Facility designed to advance progress in sustainability announced during The UAE Innovation Week
Dubai, UAE, November 26, 2015: Diamond Developers has announced the launch of 'The Diamond Innovation Centre,' a dedicated facility designed to advance progress in the field of sustainability. Announced in line with the UAE Innovation week 2015, the new initiative is part of The Sustainable City - the region’s first fully integrated sustainable community has been established to explore and promote the best ideas around the safeguarding of important natural resources.
The first institution of its kind in the UAE, The Diamond Innovation Centre will facilitate the study of environmentally-friendly and renewable practices and forms a major component of The Sustainable City’s offerings. Established to be a world-class knowledge resource institution that promotes best practices in sustainability through applied research and development, The Diamond Innovation Centre will host innovative study programmes, provide professional training and be at the forefront of formulating international standards and measurements.

Among the solutions that The Diamond Innovation Centre will accomplish are the research for new sustainable approaches to elevate The Sustainable City’s role in the educational sector and to develop a reputation for the provision of premium training courses, sustainability consulting services and sustainability exhibitions and conferences. It also intends to provide scholarships to students in universities and to arrange reciprocal study programmes with other similar centres.
“The Diamond Innovation Centre will showcase the latest global advancements in the field of sustainability as well as offer consulting services to both students and industry professionals looking to further their knowledge in the sustainability industry. The Centre will be the first negative lifecycle footprint building in the region, over its 50-year lifespan, the building will produce 140% of its energy requirements, covering its operational consumption while offsetting its manufacturing, construction and demolition carbon emissions,” added Saeed.
The Diamond Innovation Centre is one of the central components of Phase Two of The Sustainable City, which has been designed around the three pillars of sustainability; Economic, Environmental and Social. The facility will have a smart control room, which will monitor the city’s performance and strive to enhance its functions and operations. Also included in The Sustainable City’s second phase, which is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2016, is an eco-resort, a country club, a green school and a science museum.

[دبي – الإمارات العربية المتحدة، 26 نوفمبر 2015] – حرصًا منها على المشاركة الفعالة في أسبوع الإمارات للابتكار الذي يستمر طوال هذا الأسبوع حتى الثامن والعشرين من الشهر الجاري، أعلنت "دايموند ديفلوبرز" الشركة المطورة للمشروع، عن إطلاق "مركز دايموند للإبتكار" الذي سيكون أحد المكونات الرئيسية لهذا المشروع العالمي الفريد.
وقال فارس سعيد، الرئيس التنفيذي والشريك المؤسس لشركة "دايموند ديفلوبرز": "بما أننا ننتمي إلى نسيج دولة الإمارات، فإننا نبدي أعلى درجات الحرص على دعم مبادراتها الوطنية في شتى المجالات. وخلال أسبوع الإمارات للابتكار 2015، يطيب لنا أن ننضم إلى الفعاليات الوطنية بالإعلان رسميًا عن "مركز دايموند للإبتكار" لأول مرة في المدينة المستدامة. وسنعمل خلال السنوات المقبلة مع طيف واسع من المؤسسات الأكاديمية ومراكز الأبحاث لتطوير الحلول البيئة والعمرانية المبتكرة التي ستساعد الإمارات على التحول إلى مركز عالمي لتقنيات الاستدامة".
وأضاف سعيد: "إن تدشين هذا المركز يهدف في المقام الأول إلى تعزيز دور الابتكار باعتباره القوة الدافعة الرئيسية لإنشاء مشروع ريادي بهذا الحجم، وسنعمل مع كافة المؤسسات الوطنية لنقل تجربتنا ومشاركة أفكارنا، لتظل الإمارات في طليعة دول العالم في كافة الميادين ذات الصلة بابتكارات المباني الخضراء والحفاظ على البيئة. لذلك، أردنا الاحتفاء بهذا الأسبوع بطريقة إبداعية تؤكد على الدور الرئيسي الذي يلعبه الابتكار في الرؤية الشاملة لهذا المشروع".
وتم إنشاء مركز الابتكار ليكون مؤسسة عالمية تتخذ من دولة الإمارات مقرًا لها، لتوفير المعارف الداعمة لأفضل الممارسات في مجال الاستدامة، وذلك من خلال البحوث التطبيقية والتطوير، إلى جانب الاعتماد على البرامج الدراسية المبتكرة، وتوفير التدريب المهني. وسيتولى المركز وضع المعايير والمقاييس الدولية، وإطلاق البحوث المتطورة التي تسهم في إيجاد الحلول الجديدة في مجال الإستدامة. ومن الجدير بالذكر أنه من المتوقع أن ينتج المركز ١٤٠٪ من الطاقة الكهربائية ليعوض الفائض منها على مدار الـ٥٠ عاما المقبلة ما تم استهلاكه من طاقة ومواد خام لتصنيع وبناء كل مرافق المدينة.
وسيسهم المركز في الارتقاء بدور المدينة المستدامة في القطاع التعليمي، حيث سيتبنى الخطط المتقدمة لتوفير الدورات التدريبية المتميزة، مع تقديم الخدمات والاستشارات في مجال الاستدامة، إلى جانب الإسهام في تنظيم المعارض والمؤتمرات ذات الصلة بهذا الموضوع. وعلاوة على ذلك كله، يعتزم المركز أيضًا تقديم المنح الدراسية للطلاب في الجامعات الأخرى.
وتم الانتهاء من تصميم مركز الابتكار مؤخرًا، ليتم الإعلان عن عملياته لأول مرة، وسيركز جهوده على إبراز التطورات العالمية في مجال الاستدامة، وتقديم الخدمات الاستشارية للطلاب والمتخصصين. وسيشتمل المركز على غرفة التحكم الذكية لرصد أداء المدينة، مع السعي الدؤوب من جانب القائمين عليه إلى تعزيز مهامه وعملياته، علماً أنه قد تم الموافقة على التصميم النهائي للمركز، ويتوقع الانتهاء من أعمال الإنشاء مع في العام 2017.
