Delegation attends Dubai’s first fully integrated sustainable community during World Green Building Week
Dubai, UAE, September 28 2015: The Sustainable City was the location for a special visit from Emirates Green Building Council (EmiratesGBC) recently. The newly launched development from Diamond Developers, which is Dubai’s first fully sustainable community, hosted higher management from the independent forum aimed at conserving the environment by strengthening and promoting green building practices. “We were honoured and delighted to receive representatives from EmiratesGBC at The Sustainable City, as the occasion gave us the chance to showcase the latest developments of our integrated sustainable community. It also opened the floor to discuss potential collaboration opportunities that will benefit the environment and provide Dubai’s citizens with sustainable options to enhance the quality of their lives. Diamond Developers is a keen supporter of EmiratesGBC and has been a member of the organisation since 2013,” said Faris Saeed, CEO, Diamond Developers.
EmiratesGBC’s site visit was organised to coincide with the start of World Green Building Week 2015, which runs from September 21-27 under the theme ‘Powering Positive Change.’ The week aims to broaden public conversation of the role that buildings play in creating a sustainable future. The awareness initiative has expanded globally since its inception, with organisations across the world now connecting to promote new standards in sustainable development.
The visit saw a brief introduction being given by Diamond Developers about The Sustainable City followed by a guided tour around the development, which is being constructed around the three pillars of sustainability; social, environmental and economic. The five million square feet project was conceived to be a world-class example of what can be achieved through a commitment to sustainability and features a raft of initiatives to both conserve resources and save money, including energy efficient home design, use of eco-friendly building materials and solar panels placed on the roofs of residential units. In terms of social living, the development places a priority on nature, green spaces, health, education and recreational activities for its residents, with an emphasis on enabling a sustainable lifestyle that is allied to a strong sense of community.
The Sustainable City' (TSC) is on course to complete Phase one by Q4 2015. Phase one of the project comprises Five residential clusters of 100 villas each, a community mall, a central green spine, an Equestrian Centre, horse, bicycle, walking and jogging tracks, and all project infrastructural works.
Phase Two of the Sustainable City, which is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2016, places a strong focus on education. In addition to its eco-resort and country club, the development will feature a nature-inspired ‘Green School’ from Kindergarten to Grade 8, while research on sustainability including training, workshops and seminars will be undertaken at the Innovation Centre, a major knowledge resource centre established to advance sustainable practices in the built environment through applied research and development. There will also be a Science Museum where students from the school will be encouraged to act as ambassadors for visitors.

مجلس الإمارات للأبنية الخضراء يزور المدينة المستدامة
زيارة الوفد لأول مجتمع مستدام متكامل في دبي تأتي خلال الأسبوع العالمي للأبنية الخضراء
[دبي - الإمارات العربية المتحدة، 28 سبتمبر 2015] - كانت المدينة المستدامة مسرحًا لزيارة خاصة قام بها مجلس الإمارات للأبنية الخضراء مؤخرًا، حيث استقبل هذا المشروع الذي أطلقته "دايموند ديفلوبرز" حديثًا ليكون أول مجتمع مستدام بالكامل في دبي، الإدارة العليا لهذا المنتدى المستقل الذي يهدف إلى الحفاظ على البيئة من خلال تعزيز وتشجيع ممارسات الأبنية الخضراء.
وقال فارس سعيد، الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة "دايموند ديفلوبرز": "لقد تشرفنا باستقبال ممثلي مجلس الإمارات للأبنية الخضراء في المدينة المستدامة، وأتاحت لنا هذه المناسبة تسليط الضوء على أحدث التطورات في مشروعنا المستدام والمتكامل. وكانت هناك فرصة لمناقشة آفاق التعاون المحتملة لتعزيز البيئة وتوفير خيارات وحلول مستدامة.. إن دايموند ديفلوبرز توفر دعمها الكامل للمجلس، لاسيما وأنها عضو فيه منذ العام 2013".
وتتزامن زيارة المجلس للموقع مع بداية الأسبوع العالمي للأبنية الخضراء 2015، الذي يقام خلال الفترة من 21-27 سبتمبر تحت شعار "تمكين التغيير الإيجابي". ويهدف الأسبوع إلى تشجيع النقاش بين مختلف شرائح المجتمع حول الدور الذي تلعبه المباني في خلق مستقبل مستدام. وتمت توسعة نطاق هذا المؤتمر ليكون بمثابة مبادرة عالمية للتوعية منذ تنظيم دورته الأولى، وأصبحت المنظمات في جميع أنحاء العالم تربط به الآن للتشجيع على إرساء معايير جديدة في مجال التنمية المستدامة.
وشهدت الزيارة قيام دايموند ديفلوبرز بتقديم عرض موجز حول المدينة المستدامة، وتلا ذلك جولة تعريفية في أرجاء المشروع الذي يتم تطويره حول الركائز الثلاث للاستدامة، وهي الاجتماعية والبيئية والاقتصادية. وتم تصميم هذا المشروع البالغة مساحته خمسة ملايين قدم مربع ليكون نموذجًا عالميًا إزاء ما يمكن تحقيقه من خلال الالتزام بالاستدامة، في الوقت الذي يضم مجموعة كبيرة من المبادرات للحفاظ على الموارد وتوفير المال، بما في ذلك التصميم الذي يضمن كفاءة استهلاك الطاقة في المنازل، واستخدام مواد البناء الصديقة للبيئة، ونشر الألواح الشمسية على أسطح الوحدات السكنية. أما بالنسبة إلى المعيشة الاجتماعية، فإن المشروع يعطي الأولوية للطبيعة والمساحات الخضراء والصحة والتعليم والأنشطة الترفيهية للمقيمين فيه، مع التركيز على تمكين نمط الحياة المستدامة المتناغمة مع الشعور القوي تجاه المجتمع.
وستكتمل المرحلة الأولى من "المدينة المستدامة" في الربع الرابع من العام الجاري 2015. حيث تضم خمسة تجمعات سكنية، يشتمل كل واحد منها على 100 فيلا ومركز تسوق ومنطقة مركزية خضراء، إضافة إلى مركز للفروسية، ومسارات مخصصة لركوب الخيول وقيادة الدراجات الهوائية وممارسة رياضة المشي والجري، وجميع أعمال البنية التحتية للمشروع.
أما المرحلة الثانية من المشروع المقرر اكتمالها في نهاية العام 2016، فسيكون تركيزها الأساسي على التعليم؛ فبالإضافة إلى المنتجع البيئي والنادي الريفي، سيضم المشروع "مدرسة خضراء" مستوحاة من الطبيعة من مرحلة رياض الأطفال وحتى الصف الثامن، في حين سيتم إجراء البحوث المتعلقة بالاستدامة في مركز الابتكار الذي سيوفر فرص التدريب وورش العمل والندوات، إضافة إلى مركز الموارد للمعرفة الرئيسية الذي تم إنشاؤه لتعزيز الممارسات المستدامة في البيئة العمرانية من خلال البحوث التطبيقية والتنمية. وسيستضيف المشروع أيضًا متحف العلوم لتشجيع طلاب المدرسة ليكونوا سفراء مرافقين لزوار المدينة.
وقال خالد بشناق، نائب رئيس مجلس الإدارة في مجلس الإمارات للأبنية المستدامة: "سعدنا بتلقي الدعوة لمشاهدة الإنجازات الهائلة التي حققتها دايموند ديفلوبرز في مدينة مستدامة تسعى إلى الاعتماد على موارد الطاقة الذاتية، وتوفير أفضل المرافق لسكانها مع الحفاظ على البيئة في الوقت ذاته. إن هذا المشروع لا يعمل على تحويل رؤية المعيشة المستدامة في دبي إلى واقع ملموس فحسب، ولكنه يضع معيارًا لشركات التطوير العقاري الأخرى. لذا فإننا نعمل على تعزيز علاقتنا مع الشركة، والارتقاء بها إلى مستوى أعلى".
