Cairo, 9th June 2015 – Lekela Power, a 60/40 joint venture between Actis and Mainstream Renewable Power with US$ 1.9 bn investments planned for Africa, announced today the signing of two Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with the New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA) for one 50 MW solar power plant in Aswan and one 50 MW wind power plant in the West Gulf of Suez under the feed in tariff scheme.
Commenting on the MOUs, Chris Antonopoulos, Lekela Power’s CEO said: “We are pleased with the two MOUs, which mark an important step for Lekela Power and its partners. We have a long-term strategic plan to deliver renewable energy in Egypt; and a great ambition to continue to grow a significant presence in the market. Egypt’s abundance of natural resources set the perfect parameters for entering into renewable energy; and presents a strategic solution to the country’s pressing energy demands”.
Lekela has already taken possession of the project land in Aswan and is preparing for site works and studies and will shortly be taking possession of the wind site in the West Gulf of Suez. Lekela Power has additional projects in the pipeline in Egypt, mainly a 250MW wind power plant in Gabal Elzeit under the BOO program, for which Lekela has submitted the lowest overall tariff of 3.961 USD cents per kWh, 2.5% below the second lowest tariff of 4.068 USD cents per kWh submitted to the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company for that project.

Barry Lynch, Managing Director of Onshore Procurement, Construction and Operations at Mainstream Renewable Power said: “These wind and solar projects meet three important criteria in terms of addressing Egypt’s growing electricity demand. They can be delivered at the scale and the speed required, as well as at a price which is cheaper than new thermal generation.”
Lekela Power’s projects will generate up to 1,000 MW of renewable energy in countries across Africa over the next five years, with 860MW at the development and construction stages and an ambitious plan to pursue further opportunities across Egypt and Africa.
ليكيلا باور توّقع مذكرتي تفاهم مع هيئة تنمية واستخدام الطاقة الجديدة والمتجددة لانتاج 50 ميجاوات من طاقة الرياح و50 ميجاوات من الطاقة الشمسية
القاهرة، 9 يونيو 2015 - أعلنت "ليكيلا باور" للطاقة المتجددة في أفريقيا ، وهي مشروع مشترك بين "أكتيس" و "ماينستريم " (60% و40% على التوالي) ، عن توقيع مذكرتي تفاهم مع هيئة تنمية واستخدام الطاقة الجديدة والمتجددة لانتاج 50 ميجاوات من الطاقة الشمسية في اسوان و 50 ميجاوات من طاقة الرياح فى غرب خليج السويس بنظام تعريفة التغذية.
وفي هذا الصدد، صرّح كريس أنتونوبولوس، المدير التنفيذي لشركة "ليكيلا باور": " نحن سعداء بهذا التعاون والذى نتطلع من خلاله الى ترسيخ اقدامنا فى قطاع الطاقة فى مصر". واضاف : "نحن لدينا خطة استراتيجية طموحة طويلة المدى للاستثمار في مجال الطاقة المتجددة في مصر ، حيث ان مصر تتمتع بزخم من الموارد الطبيعية يؤهلها للدخول في مجالات الطاقة المتعددة ، ونحن نسعى لتلبية جزء من هذه الحاجة الملحة لتلك الطاقة."
وقد استلمت "ليكيلا باور" الموقع في اسوان وتجري حالياً استعداداتها للبدء في العمل والدراسات الميدانية ، كما تستعد حالياً لاستلام موقع محطة الرياح في غرب خليج السويس . وكانت "ليكيلا باور" قد تقدمت لمناقصة مزرعة رياح جبل الزيت باقل تعريفة لانشاء المشروع بنظام البناء والامتلاك والتشغيل بقيمة 3.961 سنت امريكي للكيلوات/الساعة ، وهو يعتبر افضل العروض بلا منازع بفارق 2.5% عن افضل ثاني العروض التي تلقتها وزارة الكهرباء )4.068 سنت امريكي للكيلوات/الساعة) عن هذا المشروع.
وتعقيباً على الاتفاقية ، صرّح د. شريف الخولي ، المدير العام في شركة أكتيس في مصر: " نحن سعداء بوضع "ليكيلا باور" على خريطة الطاقة المتجددة في مصر. وتعد " ليكيلا باور" هي الشركة الثامنة للطاقة المتجددة التي تطلقها أكتيس، وثالث شراكة مع ماينستريم - وهي مطور عالمي للطاقة المتجددة . ان امتداد "ليكيلا" الافريقي الى العمق المصري يؤكد ويدعم التزام أكتيس وسجلها الحافل على الارض في مصر على مدى الثلاثة عشر عاماً ، ونحن نتطلع الى الاعلان عن العديد من الانباء الطيبة في هذه الصدد لليكيلا وأكتيس قريباً".
وأضاف باري لينش مدير عام المشتريات والانشاءات والعمليات لماينستريم :" ان مشاريع الطاقة المتجددة من شمس ورياح تعتمد على ثلاثة معايير هامة لتبلبية احتياجات مصر الملحة من الكهرباء ، فهذه التكنولوجيا قد اثبتت جدارتها على انتاج الطاقة على نطاق واسع في زمن وسعر اقل بكثير من الطاقة الحرارية ".
ومن المتوقع ان تنتج " ليكيلا باور" 1000 ميجاوات من الطاقة المتجددة من خلال مشاريع في العديد من البلدان في افريقيا خلال الخمس اعوام القادمة ، وهي تتضمن 860 ميجاوات في مراحل التطوير والانشاء – وذلك بالاضافة الى خطة طموحة للتوسع في افريقيا .
