Salama Bint Hamdan Al Nahyan Foundation conducted a session on leadership as part of the Shamsa bint Mohamed Al Nahyan Fellowship in Early Childhood Development. Dr. Maha Barakat, the session’s speaker and the Director General of the Health Authority Abu Dhabi, talked about the importance of looking at the paths taken by well-known leaders to find guidance for one’s own professional journey. She cited examples from history to illustrate how strong leadership can drive education and innovation, which can lead to the creation of a successful future for coming generations.
During the session, Dr. Maha also revealed her personal experiences and how they influenced who she is today. She highlighted challenges she faced in the past that provided openings for her to play a leadership role and make critical decisions.
Dr. Maha further stressed the value of having a mentor or patron to guide one’s career, as well as the significance of having the flexibility to take advantage of opportunities that arise. She also underscored the importance of family and taking care of one’s own physical well-being by maintaining a healthy balance between work and personal time.
