Iconic Irish rocker Sir Bob Geldof, who was in Dubai recently to celebrate St. Paddy’s Day at the Irish Village, took time out of his busy schedule to pay tribute to the Transguard Group’s ‘Star of the Year’, Saiful Islam.
Saiful, a member of Transguard’s cleaning team, who has worked for the group since 2008, was recognised for his sterling work at Dubai Mall last year, when his quick thinking, averted what could have been a catastrophic fire.
“I noticed smoke coming from a car in the Fashion car park of Dubai Mall. Upon closer inspection, I could see flames, so I immediately raised the alarm,” said Saiful.
“It was 10.30pm on a Thursday night (10th April) so the car park was completely full and I was worried that the flames might spread to the other cars – so I dashed over to get the nearest fire extinguisher and put out the fire,” he added.
For his selfless exploit, Saiful was handed a cash reward, a return flight ticket home to Bangladesh and a trophy to commemorate the occasion, presented to him by Sir Bob Geldof himself.
During the same presentation, Raja Sajjad, a Transguard employee for the past six years, was acknowledged for his honesty. Raja was on cleaning duty in the Downtown area of Dubai, when he found a wallet containing AED17,000 and numerous credit cards. He handed it over to his supervisor who called the owner to collect it. Raja was given a cash reward and a trophy.
Commenting on the awards, John Nolan, Managing Director, Transguard Group, said: “I feel immensely proud that we have fine ambassadors such as Saiful and Raja, working for Transguard. And I’m delighted that they had the chance to meet Sir Bob Geldof, a man who knows a thing or two about corporate social responsibility.”

أقامت ترانسغارد، احدى شركات مجموعة الامارات،حفل تكريم لأثنين من موظفيها، حيث منحت سيف الاسلام جائزة " نجم العام"، و يعمل سيف الاسلام كموظف تنظيف في المجموعة منذ عام 2008، و جاء تكريمه على الشجاعة التي بذلها في السيطرة على حريق قبل أن يتحول كارثياَ في دبي مول.
و قال سيف الاسلام، موظف تنظيف في ترانسغارد:" في يوم الخميس الموافق 10 أبريل في الساعة 10 و النصف مساءاَ، اشتممت رائحة دخان من احدى السيارات المتوقفة في كراج دبي مول، و خوفاَ من حصول امراَ لا تحمد عقباه بادرت بقرع جرس الانذار و اخذ مطفئة الحريق و المبادرة باخماد النيران المشتعلة في السيارة".
و تم تكريم الموظف راجا سجاد على امانته حين وجد محفظة تحتوي على مبلغ 17 الف درهماَ و عدداَ من بطاقات الائتمان في منطقة داون تاون دبي أثناء عمله و قام بتسليمها للشخص المسؤول الذي قام بدوره بالاتصال بصاحب المحفظة لتسليمها له.
و قال جون نولان، العضو المنتدب لشركة ترانسغارد:" أشعر بالفخر بوجود سفراء لدينا مثل سيف الاسلام و راجا سجاد، و انا مسرور بوجودهم اليوم بيننا لتكريمهم و تعزيز دور المسؤولية الاجتماعية للشركة".
