Richcomm
Global Services (DMCC) announced that it will be hosting the second
edition of the Global Commodity Outlook Conference (GCOC) on February 8,
2015. The annual conference will provide an overview of commodities and
the macro-economy and the projections for the year ahead.
The
GCOC is the first and the only inter-active business seminar dedicated
to the commodities sector in the Middle East. The conference is held in
association with the DMCC (Dubai Multi Commodities Centre), Dubai Gold
and Commodities Exchange (DGCX) and Thomson Reuters, with the support of
Dubai Gold and Jewellery Group (DGJG).
Paresh
Kotecha Chairman & MD of Richcomm, said: "Following the success of
last year's forum and the positive feedback from the marketplace and
industry players, we are confident that the second edition of the
conference will encourage rich dialogue and debate on the commodities
market. This year, we have an impressive line-up of expert speakers and
we are expecting senior attendance from across the region and from key
global markets."
Global
analysts predict 2015 to be a challenging year for the commodity
market. Geopolitical conflicts such as the Ukraine standoff, instability
across Iraq, Syrian and North Africa weigh heavily on the commodity
sector. From an economic view point, China's slowdown, Europe's
potential deflation, the risk of Greece's exit, and Britain's EU
referendum haunt the markets. Analysts are also divided on the question
of India's sustained growth and gold's re-emergence as the ultimate
store of wealth in an environment of monetary printing.
"We
are expecting a challenging year for the commodities market especially
with oil prices being at an all-time low. In addition, the over-supply
of some agriculture commodities and issues related to food security are
also some of key challenges foreseen this year. For the Middle East in
particular, food security is a key theme in the current scenario. The
conference will address some of these issues," added Kotecha.
The
GCOC brings together professionals from different commodity sectors,
ranging from agriculture to base and precious metals, as well as senior
economists to discuss the global market. Key subjects that impact the
global commodity trade such as U.S. and EU monetary policies, market
movers such as energy, equities, property prices, interest rates and
global weather, will be covered at the one-day conference, along with
global production and price outlook. The conference will also discuss
the impact of oil prices on both commodities and in major economies.
The
event is aimed at professionals in the commodity business, as well as
investors, and will be beneficial for business planning in 2015. An
emphasis will be placed on networking, as it is important for the
stakeholders to have a constant professional dialogue with each other to
develop and drive the industry forward.
Some
