Oman registers 17 percent increase in GCC tourists in 2014 with 701,311 visitors in the first three quarters

Moving forward to attract more tourists during the upcoming tourism season, Oman Ministry of Tourism in collaboration with Oman Air, the national carrier airline of Oman, recently held a promotional event at the Conrad Hotel Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The event aimed to reinforce the joint venture between both parties to promote Oman as the leading tourist destination for short breaks. The session included informative and interactive presentations on Oman’s tourism infrastructure and facilities along with the announcement of attractive and cost-effective holiday packages designed for GCC visitors, including luxury hotel stays and return tickets from Oman Air.
Oman has emerged as one of the top destinations among GCC travellers for short breaks, registering a 17 per cent increase in GCC Citizens numbers at the end of 3rd quarter. According to the latest statistics by the National Centre for Statistics and Information, over 701,311 inbound tourists from the GCC visited the Sultanate until September 2014. The proactive measures undertaken by the Omani government to sustain the seamless expansion in the country’s tourism sectors have complemented this growth. The country has witnessed a spurt in developing activities in its infrastructural facilities, including airports, roads and rail networks, and maritime sectors.
Salem Adi Al Mamari, Director General of Tourism Promotion, Oman Ministry of Tourism, said: “Compared with other countries, Oman offers a wide range of variety in its geographical features, making it an attractive destination for all-year-round tourism. From ancient forts to most modern hotels, beaches to mountains, cuisines to spas, and recreation to relaxation, we have something to satisfy the needs of even the most discerning travellers. Besides, the Sultanate boasts of the world-class airports, wide network of highways, superior ports to make the travel inside and outside the country more smoothly. We have partnered with Oman Air to offer economical and interesting travel packages to attract potential travellers to see our country as well as remind the existing travellers to visit again.”
Oman Air, the national airlines of Oman, were present as the official airline for the Sultanate of Oman. Underlining the airline’s commitment to service excellence, Oman Air’s Business Class seat on board its A330 fleet has been voted by Skytrax as the Best Business Class Seat in the world for two years in a row, in 2011 and 2012. في خطوة تهدف إلى جذب المزيد من السياح خلال الموسم السياحي القادم، نظمت وزارة السياحة العُمانية بالتعاون مع الطيران العُماني، الناقل الوطني لسلطنة عُمان، فعالية ترويجية في فندق كونراد في دبي، الإمارات العربية المتحدة. وتهدف هذه الفعالية الى تعزيز التعاون المشترك بين الجانبين لترويج السلطنة كوجهة سياحية رائدة للزيارات القصيرة في دول مجلس التعاون. وتضمنت الفعالية عروضاً تقديمية تفاعلية غنية بالمعلومات حول البنية التحتية والمرافق السياحية للسلطنة إلى جانب الإعلان عن عروض جذابة ومنخفضة التكاليف للعطلات المعدة للسياح والزوار من دول مجلس التعاون الخليجي، بما في ذلك الإقامة بالفنادق الفاخرة وتذاكر السفر المقدمة من الطيران العُماني.
وتبرز سلطنة عُمان كواحدة من أفضل الوجهات السياحية للزيارات القصيرة بالنسبة للسياح من دول المجلس، إذ تم تسجيل زيادة بنسبة 17% وفقاً لآخر إحصائيات المركز الوطني للإحصاء والمعلومات، بما يمثل 701.311 سائح من دول مجلس التعاون قاموا بزيارة السلطنة حتى شهر سبتمبر
الماضي. وساهمت التدابير الاستباقية التي قامت بها الحكومة العُمانية للحفاظ على التوسع السلس في القطاع السياحي للسلطنة في استكمال هذا النمو. كما شهدت السلطنة نقلة نوعية على كافة الاصعدة بما في ذلك المطارات وشبكة الطرق والسكك الحديدية والقطاع البحري.
وقال سالم بن عدي المعمري مدير عام الترويج السياحي في وزارة السياحة العُمانية: "تتميز سلطنة عُمان بالتنوع الكبير في خصائصها الجغرافية والطبيعية، مما يجعلها وجهة سياحية جاذبة على مدار العام. و يجد السائح كافة احتياجاته من خلال الانماط السياحية المتعددة مثل الحصون التاريخية والمواقع الاثرية والطبيعية والشواطئ والجبال، والمنتجعات الصحية إلى الفنادق الحديثة ومناطق الاستجمام والترفيه وكذلك المأكولات العمانية المتميزة في سلطنة عُمان. وتمتلك السلطنة مطارات عالمية المستوى وشبكة واسعة من الطرق السريعة والموانئ الممتازة، مما يجعل السياحة في السلطنة متعة حقيقية وتجربة فريدة لا تنسى. وقمنا بالتعاون مع الطيران العُماني بتقديم عروض سياحية اقتصادية مميزة لاستقطاب المزيد من السياح المحبين لزيارة بلدنا وكذلك العملاء الحاليين لتكرار زيارة السلطنة مجدداً".
واكد الطيران العُماني على التزام بتقديم خدمة مميّزة، حيث تم اختيار مقاعد درجة رجال الأعمال في الطيران العُماني على متن طائرتها "أيه 330" (A330) كأفضل مقاعد لدرجة رجال الأعمال في العالم من قبل "سكاي تراكس" (Skytrax) لعامين على التوالي 2011 و2012. ويمكن للمسافرين على متن خطوط الطيران العُماني الآن الحصول على مستوى جديد بالكامل للخدمة على الأرض مع مرفق إجراءات السفر المتميز والمخصص حصرياً للدرجة الأولى ودرجة رجال الأعمال، بالإضافة إلى قاعات الطيران العُماني الراقية في مطار مسقط الدولي.
