Dubai, 27 January, 2015 – In
the spirit of Valentine’s Day, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT)
has joined forces with Suvarnabhumi Airport, Phuket International
Airport and the Immigration Bureau to ensure that any loving couples
visiting the kingdom to enjoy nuptials and honeymoons will be fast
tracked through the immigration process during the month of February.
The initiative was first launched in 2013.
TAT
Governor, Mr. Thawatchai Arunyik said, “Thailand, with its natural
beauty, warm weather and long welcoming beaches, has always been a
romantic destination and popular with honeymooners and couples looking
for a memorable getaway together. And over the years, we have been happy
to welcome newly-weds coming to spend their first precious days as man
and wife here in the kingdom. To make the experience more memorable this
year, we’ll be ensuring that all couples enjoy a swift, smooth and warm
arrival during February, the official month of love.”
Throughout February,
from 05.00-24.00 hrs, all couples travelling together – newlyweds,
honeymooners and loving partners – are invited to register their
arrival, so as to be eligible for special souvenirs and privileges, one
of which is use of the Airports’ Premium Lane, which offers a fast-track
immigration service. In addition, their names will be entered into a
lucky draw, so that they get the chance to win some amazing prizes
including accommodation, spa treatments, and vouchers to enjoy some of
the kingdom’s famous fine dining.
Registered couples can
use the two special registration counters at Suvarnabhumi Airport: one
is located at the East Concorde (which receives passengers from Gates A,
B, C and D) while the second is situated at the West Concorde (which
receives passengers from Gates E, F and G); both are located at the end
of the moving walkways.
At Phuket
International Airport, couples will find the romantic registration
counter in the main Passenger Hall (connected to the aerobridge). This
can also be easily found by travellers arriving from the bus gate.
Couples celebrating
their love this February will always have a reminder of their Thai
nuptials as TAT is setting up special photo booths at the registration
counters to ensure that the newlyweds and honeymooners can take home an
extra-special memento of their trip.
Thailand has long been
one of the world’s most popular honeymoon destinations, offering a
range of romantic accommodation to suit newly-weds from luxurious suites
to pool villas as well as honeymoon packages and spa treatments for
couples. It is possible to get married here and enjoy uniquely Thai
experiences; such as, the ride on the back of an elephant or underwater
weddings among the coral and fish.
This annual initiative
to fast-track couples is merely the latest in a range of measures aimed
at enhancing Thailand’s romantic appeal.
