events to showcase latest trends, emerging technologies & best practices in
fresh food & plant industries

Excellency Eng. Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director General of Dubai Municipality, today
(Sunday, November 9, 2014) led the official opening of the 6th International
Perishables Expo Middle East (WOP), the GCC’s only dedicated exhibition for
fresh edible food, and the 9th International Plants Expo Middle East
(IPM), the region’s only dedicated horticultural trade show running until
November 11, 2014 at the Dubai World Trade Center.
The
sixth edition of WOP, held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid
Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance, and Chairman of Dubai
Municipality is taking place in cooperation with Dubai Municipality and Dubai
Central Fruit and Vegetable Market, the region's largest market for fruits and
vegetables. It gathers under one roof leading local, regional and international
businessmen and industry leaders to explore emerging opportunities and discuss the
latest technological and market trends. One of the highlights of this year’s
event is the holding of the Eurofruit Business Forum, a series of 60-minute
sessions on the Middle East’s fresh produce business. The forum will discuss
carefully chosen topics designed for participants who are planning to bring
their operations to the region.
Tarek
Sibai, Project Manager, planetfair, said: “The Middle East’s fresh flower and
food industries are rapidly flourishing amidst the region’s continuously
expanding population. Both WOP and IPM Middle East 2014 will help address the
current high demand by providing a platform for all stakeholders to gain
insights into current and emerging trends. Out of these discussions and
networking opportunities, concrete actions can then be taken to help sustain
the
sectors’
significant progress. With the UAE importing AED 60 million worth of plants and
AED 3 billion worth of fresh produce, this raises the importance of the
exhibitions and is a testament to the lucrative and thriving regional markets.”
During
the event, the Ministry of Environment and Water will showcase its agricultural
services provided to customers, in addition to the achievements and initiatives
in the field of agriculture, and modern techniques used in this area. The
exhibition is being held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al
Maktoum, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of Dubai
Airports, and with the support of key entities like the UAE Ministry of
Environment and Water.

Eng. Saif Al-Shara’, Undersecretary
of Agricultural Affairs and Animal Sector, Ministry of Environment and Water,
said, “Our presence at this exhibition demonstrates our commitment to increase
more awareness on the guidelines and standards for the import and export of
agriculture-based products and flowers. In addition to that, our purpose is to see
the experiences of other countries in the agricultural field and their efforts
towards achieving sustainable development. The ministry will also showcase its e-services
and smart applications, which can speed the process of special procedures to
import and export speed."
IPM
Middle East 2014, covers the entire chain for the horticultural industry - from
greenhouse and nursery growers to garden centers and green industry suppliers
to landscape designers, architects and contractors. This year, numerous local
and regional opportunities offered by the blossoming horticultural trade will
be extensively displayed and discussed. The exhibition focuses on various
central themes, namely Plants and Flowers; Technology; Plants Maintenance;
Floristry; Plants Logistics; and Promotions, Shop Designs and Services. Furthermore,
participants will have access to a host of plants, trees, palms, landscape
equipment, hardscape products, irrigation and production equipment, business
services and garden center supplies throughout the duration of the event.
Organized
by planetfair LLC, the two simultaneous high-level events will take place until
November 11, 2014 and will host over a hundred exhibitors from Europe, the
Middle East, Africa, and Asia.

"المعرض الدولي السادس للخضار والفواكه في الشرق الأوسط
2014" (WOP 2014)، الفعالية الوحيدة المتخصصة في مجال
الفواكه والخضار في دول مجلس التعاون الخليجي؛ و"المعرض الدولي التاسع للزهور والنباتات في الشرق
الأوسط" (9th International
Plants Expo Middle East)، الحدث
الدولي الوحيد المتخصص بالنباتات والبستنة على مستوى المنطقة، حيث سيستمر المعرضان
لغاية 11 نوفمبر/تشرين الأول الجاري في مركز دبي التجاري العالمي.
وتقام الدورة السادسة من "المعرض الدولي للخضار
والفواكه في الشرق الأوسط 2014"، تحت رعاية سمو الشيخ حمدان بن راشد آل مكتوم
نائب حاكم دبي وزير المالية رئيس بلدية دبي، وبالتعاون مع بلدية دبي وسوق دبي المركزي للخضار والفواكه، أكبر سوق للفواكه
والخضار على مستوى المنطقة. ويجمع المعرض تحت سقف واحد أبرز رجال
الأعمال ورواد هذا القطاع على المستويات المحلية والإقليمية والدولية لاستكشاف
الفرص المتاحة ومناقشة أحدث الاتجاهات التقنية والتسويقية. ومن بين أبرز فعاليات
المعرض منتدى أعمال
"يوروفروت" (Eurofruit Business
Forum)، وهو عبارة
عن سلسلة من الجلسات مدة كل منها 60 دقيقة تتطرق إلى مواضيع هامة في قطاع المنتجات
الطازجة في الشرق الأوسط، حيث سيتم مناقشة عديدة بهدف مساعدة
المشاركين الراغبين بتوسيع نطاق أعمالهم التجارية في المنطقة.
وبدوره قال
طارق سباعي، مدير المشاريع لدى شركة "بلانيت فير": "يشهد قطاعا
الأغذية والنباتات الطازجة ازدهاراً مطرداً في ظل التنامي المستمر لعدد السكان في
المنطقة. وسيسهم "المعرض الدولي السادس للخضار والفواكه في
الشرق الأوسط 2014" و"المعرض
الدولي التاسع للزهور والنباتات في الشرق الأوسط" في تلبية الطلب المتنامي من
خلال توفير منصة لكافة الجهات المعنية تتيح لهم الاطلاع على الاتجاهات الحالية
والناشئة في هذين القطاعين. ومن خلال ما سيتمخض عن هذه النقاشات وفرص التواصل،
يمكن اتخاذ إجراءات ملموسة للمساعدة في الحفاظ على التقدم الكبير الذي تم إحرازه في
هذين القطاعين. واستوردت دولة الإمارات ما قيمته 60 مليار درهم من
النباتات والزهور و3 مليارات درهم من الخضروات والفواكه الطازجة، حيث إن من شأن
ذلك أن يعزز من أهمية هذين المعرضين ويعد دليلاً على ربحية وإزدهار الأسواق
الإقليمية".
أما "المعرض
الدولي التاسع للزهور والنباتات في الشرق الأوسط 2014"، الذي يعقد تحت رعاية
سمو الشيخ أحمد بن سعيد آل مكتوم، رئيس هيئة دبي للطيران المدني ورئيس مجلس إدارة
مؤسسة مطارات دبي، وبدعم ومشاركة وزارة البيئة والمياه، حيث
تشارك الوزارة في المعرض بجناح
تستعرض من خلاله الخدمات الزراعية المقدمة للمتعاملين، بالإضافة إلى إنجازاتها
ومبادراتها في المجال الزراعي، والتقنيات الحديثة التي تستخدمها في هذا المجال.
وأفاد سعادة المهندس
سيف الشرع وكيل الوزارة المساعد للشؤون الزراعية والحيوانية في وزارة البيئة
والمياه، "تاتي رعاية ومشاركة الوزارة في المعرض في إطار تعريف المتعاملين
بالإجراءات والاشتراطات الخاصة باستيراد وتصدير المنتجات الزراعية والنباتية،
والزهور بشكل خاص. وكذلك بهدف الاطلاع على تجارب الدول الأخرى في المجال الزراعي،
والاستفادة منها لدفع عجلة التنمية المستدامة لمجتمع المزارعين. وكما ستقوم
الوزارة بعرض خدماتها الإلكترونية وتطبيقاتها الذكية بما يساهم في سرعة إنهاء
الإجراءات الخاصة بالاستيراد والتصدير".
وسيغطي
المعرض كامل سلسلة قطاع البستنة، ابتداء
من البيوت الزجاجية ومستنبتات المشاتل الزراعية مروراً بمراكز الحدائق وموردي قطاع
النباتات والزهور ومصممي الحدائق ووصولاً إلى المهندسين المعماريين والمقاولين.
وسيتم خلال دورة هذا العام عرض ومناقشة عدد من الفرص المتاحة على الصعيدين المحلي
والإقليمي والتي يتيحها قطاع تجارة النباتات والزهور المتنامي. كما سيركز هذا المعرض على مواضيع تشمل النباتات والزهور،
والتكنولوجيا، والمحافظة على النباتات، والتزيين بالزهور، والخدمات اللوجستية
للنباتات، والعروض الترويجية وخدمات وتصميم متاجر النباتات. وعلاوة على ذلك، سيتاح
للمشاركين إمكانية الاطلاع على مجموعة من النباتات والأشجار وأشجار النخيل ومعدات
تنسيق الحدائق ومنتجات العناصر الصلبة المستخدمة في تزيين الحدائق ومعدات الري
والإنتاج والخدمات التجارية وتوريدات مراكز الحدائق.
ويستمر المعرضان، اللذان تنظمهما شركة "بلانيت
فير" (Planetfair)، ولغاية 11 نوفمبر/تشرين الثاني الجاري،
حيث يستضيفان ما يزيد على 100 عارض من أوروبا والشرق الأوسط وأفريقيا وآسيا.
