BP Egypt today announced the start of drilling the
Atoll-1 well offshore Egypt. The deepwater exploration well is the
second exploration well in the North Demietta Offshore concession
after the Salamat-1 significant discovery announced by BP in 2013.
The well will be drilled using the 6th generation rig
“Maersk Discoverer” at water depth of 923 metres and reaching a
total depth of around 7400 metres targeting Oligecene Channels. The
well spudded on September 12th, 2014 and the drilling is expected to
last into next summer.
Hesham Mekawi, BP North Africa Regional President said:

exploring the deep offshore potential of the Nile Delta, which we

Atoll-1 is a high pressure/high temperature (HP/HT) well
located north of Damietta city. BP has 100% working interest in this
well. Atoll - 1 well is named after a coral reef, sometimes called a
coral atoll, which is a ring-shaped coral reef.

production from existing discoveries.
The West Nile Delta (WND) Major Project is a strategic
project for BP and its partner RWE and is also extremely critical to
Egypt as it would provide more than one billion cubic feet per day
(25% of Egypt current production).
BP is a 33% shareholder of an NGL plant extracting LPG
and propane, United Gas Derivatives Company (UGDC) in partnership
with ENI/IEOC and GASCO (the Egyptian midstream gas distribution
company).
BP is also present in the downstream sector through
Natural Gas Vehicles Company (NGVC, BP 40%) which was established in
September 1995 as the first company in Africa and the Middle East to
commercialize natural gas as an alternative fuel for vehicles.

أعلنت
شركة بي بي مصر اليوم عن بدء أعمال حفر
البئر "آتول-1"
في
منطقة اتفاقية شمال دمياط البحرية وهو
بئر الاستكشاف الثاني بهذه الاتفاقيه
بعد الاكتشاف الضخم الذى اعلنت عنه شركة
بي بي في عام 2013
من
خلال بئر"سلامات-1"
.
وسيتم
حفر البئر "آتول-1"
باستخدام
الحفار "ميرسك
ديسكفورر"،
وهو من الجيل السادس لأجهزة الحفر البحرية،
مستهدفا الطبقات الأوليجسينية في مياه
عمقها 239
متر
تحت سطح البحر ويصل العمق الكلي للبئر
إلى 7400
متر
تقريباً .
وقد
بدأت أعمال حفر البئر في 12
سبتمبر
2014
،
ومن المتوقع أن يستمر الحفر حتى نهاية
صيف 2015.
وصرح
هشام مكاوي، الرئيس الإقليمي لشركة بي
بي شمال أفريقيا :

الاستثمارات الكبيرة في البئر آتول-1
تعتبر
مثال قوي آخر على التزامنا بتلبية احتياجات
مصر من الطاقة من خلال تكثيف الانشطه
الاستكشافيه لموارد الطاقة المحتملة في
المياه العميقة في منطقة دلتا النيل
البحرية، والتي نعتقد أنها تحتوى على
احتياطات غاز على مستوى عالمي تحتاج
لتأكيدها الى استثمارات ضخمه فى حفر
الأبار العميقه.
كما
أننا نتطلع دائما إلى القيام بدور رئيسي
في تنمية قطاع الطاقة المصري وتعظيم
استخدام مواردنا الحالية للمساعدة في
الوفاء باحتياجات الطاقة المتنامية في
مصر لسنوات عديدة قادمة".
البئر
آتول-1
هو
بئر مرتفع الضغط و مرتفع الحرارة ، ويقع
في شمال مدينة دمياط .
وتمتلك
شركة بي بي مصر حصة 100٪
في هذا البئر.
وقد
سمي بئر آتول على اسم إحدى أنواع الشعاب
المرجانية و التي تسمى أحيانا جزيرة
مرجانية، وهي الشعاب المرجانية على شكل
حلقة.

على درجة عالية من الأهمية بالنسبة لمصر
لأنه سيضيف أكثر من مليار قدم مكعب من
الغاز في اليوم (25٪
من الإنتاج المصري الحالي)

من أسهم مصنع إسالة الغاز الطبيعي لاستخلاص
الغاز البترولي المسال وغاز البروبان،
الشركة المتحدة لمشتقات الغاز، بالشراكة
مع شركة إيني/أيوك

المصرية لتوزيع الغاز).
كما
أن شركة بي بي موجودة في قطاع التسويق من
خلال شركة الغاز الطبيعي للسيارات
(والمملوكة
لشركة بي بي بنسبة 40٪)
والتي
تأسست في سبتمبر عام 1995
كأول
شركة في أفريقيا والشرق الأوسط لتسويق
الغاز الطبيعي كوقود بديل للسيارات .
