The 3rdAnnual East
Coast Culinary & Cocktail Competition, which took place in Fujairah
on 9thJune, focused on the culinary highlights that the UAE’s East Coast
region has to offer its visitors. This year, in addition to three
hundred plus UAE hotel participants, the competition also included five
international teams, making it the first time that the competition
welcomed global participants.
The
competition, organized by the Emirates Culinary Guild and the World
Association of Chefs, attracted over one hundred senior chefs from
across the globe, fifty premium F&B suppliers as well as more than
two thousand visitors, many of whom were hoping to catch a glimpse of
their favourite celebrity chef in action.
The event organizers
were delighted with the wide array of top-notch culinary expertise,
which was showcased at the competition, spurring on the battle for both
individual and group trophies. The night, however, belonged to the
Miramar Al Aqah Beach Resort, who amassed a total of 3,076 points and
won a staggering 31 trophies, including the coveted Championship Trophy,
as well as 8 gold awards, 11 silver awards and 12 bronze awards.
The categories in
which the culinary teams from Miramar Al Aqah Beach Resort were
victorious included ‘Tapas, Finger Food & Canapés’, ‘Three Tier
Wedding Cake’, ‘Three Course Gourmet Arabic Dinner’ and ‘Pastry
Showpiece’, to name but a few. Other regional highlights included
victory for Media One Hotel, clinching the ‘Best Bartender’ award,
Sharjah Ladies Club winning the ‘Best in Pastry’ category whilst Best
Pastry Chef was awarded to Zabeel Palace Hospitality.
