safety in Dubai

Dubai Maritime City
Authority (DMCA) launched its latest line of educational and training
campaigns for floating restaurants in the emirates of Dubai. The
drive, which falls in line with the ongoing efforts to promote
maritime safety under best international practices, is aimed at
raising awareness about safe operations of the floating restaurants.
Held periodically in
Arabic, English and Urdu, the campaign includes training of the staff
and crew to handle emergency situations, disaster response
management, installation and maintenance of emergency signs, defining
of escape routes for emergency evacuations, appropriate evacuation
procedures, and proper use of life jackets and rafts. The campaign
also tackles subjects related to maritime safety, including effective
internal and external communication, fire-fighting policies, and
means of preventing marine pollution caused by operational oil
spills, among others.
Amer Ali, Executive
Director of DMCA, said: “The new awareness campaign complements
DMCA’s efforts to consolidate Dubai’s leading position as an
attractive international tourist, business, and investment
destination which offers new opportunities across various segments of
marine tourism.”
Last year, DMCA
launched a Cruise Logbook which is a key addition to regulating the
floating restaurant industry in Dubai. The Cruise Logbook is a
standardized record book that urges owners of these restaurants to
record all their vessel operations as a unified source of documented
information. This measure helps marine operators to improve their
management and technical competencies, while offering advanced and
high-quality services that meet maritime safety and security
standards.
“Floating
restaurants are a key segment of the investment landscape in Dubai’s
tourism and maritime industry. This has prompted us to lay down a
clear framework to ensure their safe and secure operations. Our
campaign also makes sure that floating restaurants adhere to the
stringent standards of Maritime Sector Strategy (MSS) aimed at
creating a vibrant and secure maritime industry,” concluded
Mohammed Al Bastaki, Director of Maritime Operations, DMCA.

دوري على
مدى العام،
ويتم تقديمها
باللغة
العربية
والإنجليزية
والهندية
(الأوردو)،
إجراءات
التدريب
على الحالات
الطارئة
وإخلاء
السفن
والاستجابة
للطوارئ
وتعزيز
جاهزية
الطواقم
والسفن وسبل
ارتداء
سترات
وطوافات
النجاة
ومخارج
النجاة
وإشارات
الطوارئ.
وتتمحور
الحملة أيضاً حول الاتصالات الداخلية
والخارجية الفعّالة وسياسات منع ومكافحة
الحرائق وإجراءات معالجة التلوّث البحري
بالمشتقات النفطية وغيرها من القضايا
الأخرى ذات الصلة بالسلامة البحرية.
وقال
عامر علي، المدير التنفيذي لـ "سلطة
مدينة دبي الملاحية"،
أنّ الحملة التوعوية الجديدة "تمثل
استكمالاً لسعي السلطة البحرية لتعزيز
المكانة الريادية لإمارة دبي كوجهة جاذبة
للسياح ورجال الأعمال والمستثمرين
الدوليين الذين يتطلعون إلى الإستفادة
من الفرص الإستثمارية الجديدة المتاحة
في مختلف المجالات ذات الصلة لا سيّما
السياحة البحرية."
وتجدر
الإشارة الى أنّ "سلطة
مدينة دبي الملاحية"
أطلقت
في العام الماضي سجل عمليات الوسائل
البحرية الذي شكّل نقلة نوعية على صعيد
تنظيم عمل المطاعم العائمة باعتباره
كتيّب موحّد من شأنه تشجيع مشغلي الوسائل
البحرية على تسجيل كافة العمليات البحرية
لاستخدامه لاحقاً كمصدر شامل للمعلومات
الموثقة التي تنطوي على نتائج إيجابية
من الناحية التنظيمية والإدارية والفنية،
فضلاً عن تحسين جودة الخدمات المقدمة
والارتقاء بمعايير السلامة البحرية.
وقال
محمد البستكي، مدير إدارة العمليات
البحرية في السلطة:
"باتت
المطاعم العائمة إحدى الملامح المميزة
لمجتمع الاستثمار والقطاع السياحي والبحري
على السواء، وهو ما يحتّم وضع إطار عمل
واضح لضمان سلامة عملياتها التشغيلية،
بما ينسجم مع محاور استراتيجية القطاع
البحري الرامية إلى خلق قطاع بحري متجدد
وآمن في إمارة دبي."
