Huawei and Nokia Solutions and Networks Sign Bi-lateral Agreement for Operations Support System Interoperability Initiative

Cairo, Egypt, March 10^th 2014 - Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology solutions provider, announced recently the signing of cross-license agreement for an Operations Support System Interoperability Initiative (OSSii) along with Nokia Solutions and Networks (NSN).

The OSSii aims to simplify interoperability between OSS systems in a multi-vendor environment. OSSii will provide easy access to interfaces that earlier were subject to restricted use, and will enable interoperability testing services to a wider industry community. The parties' general guiding principles for the OSSii are openness, fairness, reasonableness and non-discriminatory treatment.

In May 2013, Huawei and NSN took part in the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for OSSii. While the MoU set the general guiding principles of the initiative in the meantime Huawei and NSN reached an agreement on the technical details of configuration, performance, and fault northbound interfaces for Radio Access, Circuit Core and Packet Core.

In addition to the cross-license agreement, reciprocal testing service agreements were signed between Huawei and NSN where both companies offer interoperability testing opportunities for the licensed interfaces under OSSii. As part of the agreement, Huawei and NSN will provide testing environments and OSSii interfaces technical documents to each other for the purposes of OSSii pre-integration testing.

As a next step Huawei and NSN plan to extend the scope of the bi-lateral license agreement to include more network nodes and interfaces as well.

The signing of agreement between Huawei and NSN is an important milestone to facilitate the integration of northbound interfaces.

Operators stand to benefit greatly from the OSSii northbound integration model. Time to market will be shortened and costs will decrease, and common problems associated with current northbound integration solutions will be significantly alleviated.

هواوي ونوكيا للحلول والشبكات توقعان اتفاقًا ثنائيًا لمبادرة قابلية التشغيل البيني لنظم دعم العمليات

القاهرة، مصر، 10 مارس 2014: أعلنت مؤخرا شركة هواوي، وهي إحدى الشركات الرائدة عالميًا في مجال تقديم حلول تكنولوجيا المعلومات والاتصالات، توقيع اتفاق ترخيص مشترك لمبادرة قابلية التشغيل البيني لنظم دعم العمليات مع شركة نوكيا للحلول والشبكات.

وتهدف المبادرة إلى تسهيل قابلية التشغيل البيني بين نظم دعم العمليات في بيئة متعددة البائعين. وسوف تعمل المبادرة على تيسير الوصول إلى الواجهات البينية التي كانت قبلاً عرضة للاستخدام المقيد، كما سوف تتيح خدمات اختبار قابلية التشغيل البيني لشريحة اكبر من مجتمع الصناعة. ويلتزم الطرفان بمبادئ توجيهية عامة في المبادرة وهي الانفتاح، والعدالة، والمعقولية، والمعاملة غير التمييزية.

وقد اشتركت هواوي ونوكيا للحلول والشبكات في مايو 2013 في توقيع مذكرة تفاهم بشأن هذه المبادرة. وفي حين وضعت هذه المذكرة المبادئ التوجيهية العامة للمبادرة، توصلت هواوي ونوكيا للحلول والشبكات إلى اتفاق حول التفاصيل الفنية للضبط والأداء والواجهات العلوية للأخطاء من أجل الـRadio Access، والـCircuit Core، والـPacket Core.

وإضافة إلى اتفاق الترخيص المشترك، تم توقيع اتفاقات لخدمات الاختبار التبادلية بين هواوي ونوكيا للحلول والشبكات حيث تقوم كلتا الشركتين بتقديم فرص اختبار قابلية التشغيل البيني للواجهات البينية المرخصة بموجب المبادرة. وكجزء من الاتفاق، ستقوم الشركتان بتوفير بيئات الاختبار والوثائق الفنية للواجهات البينية للمبادرة لبعضهما البعض لأغراض اختبارات ما قبل الاندماج بالمبادرة.

وكخطوة تالية، تخطط هواوي ونوكيا للحلول والشبكات لمد نطاق اتفاق الترخيص الثنائي ليشمل المزيد من أطراف الشبكات وواجهاتها البينية أيضًا.

ويعد توقيع الاتفاق بين هواوي ونوكيا للحلول والشبكات خطوة مهمة لتيسير اندماج الواجهات البينية العلوية.

وسوف تستفيد الشركات المشغلة استفادة كبيرة من نموذج الاندماج العلوي للمبادرة حيث سيتم تقصير زمن التسويق وخفض التكاليف وتخفيف المشاكل المصاحبة للحلول الحالية للاندماج العلوي.
