- Accelerating efforts to achieve closed-loop metal powder production and become underground resource* free by 2050
Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 15 July 2025 – Epson Atmix Corporation ("Atmix"), a group company of Seiko Epson Corporation (TSE: 6724, "Epson"), has completed construction of a new metal recycling plant at Kita-Inter Plant No. 2. Construction began in October 2023, with a total investment of approximately 5.5 billion yen in buildings and production equipment. The new facility will recycle used metals from the Epson Group's operations and the local community to produce raw materials for Atmix's metal powder products. By replacing virgin materials such as blast furnace iron with recycled metals, the plant will help conserve underground resources and reduce CO2 emissions.

Epson seeks to achieve sustainability and enrich communities, and, in Environmental Vision 2050, declares its goal of becoming carbon negative and underground resource* free by 2050. The continued expansion of mass production and mass disposal poses serious risks to the global environment and social systems. To build a sustainable society, it is essential to transition to a circular economy. Epson is committed to developing environmental technologies that support resource circulation and carbon reduction, particularly through materials innovation.
Atmix, which specializes in metal powder production, began reusing silicon wafers from Epson's semiconductor operations as raw materials in 2020. With the increasing risk of resource depletion and rising costs of virgin materials, the new plant is designed to establish a stable supply of recycled metal powders.
At Kita-Inter Plant No. 2, Atmix will recycle out-of-specification metal powders, metal scraps from its own production processes, and used molds and metal offcuts from Epson Group operations. These materials will be refined into high-quality raw materials, which will then be used at Atmix's headquarters and Kita-Inter Plant to produce metal powders using proprietary technologies. These powders will also be used in metal injection molding (MIM) components. The new refining process will enable stable production of high-quality products and contribute to the development of next-generation energy-efficient and compact devices.
The plant will also serve as a key site for promoting Epson's vision of becoming underground resource* free.

الشركة تهدف إلى الاستغناء التام عن استخدام الموارد الجوفية بحلول عام 2050
دبي، الإمارات العربية المتحدة، 15 يوليو 2025: أعلنت شركة "إبسون أتميكس" (Atmix)، المجموعة التابعة لشركة "سيكو إبسون"، عن إتمام تشييد مصنع لإعادة تدوير المعادن بدأت أعمال بنائه في أكتوبر 2023، باستثمار إجمالي يبلغ نحو 5.5 مليار ين ياباني في المباني ومعدات الإنتاج. وسيعمل هذا المرفق الجديد على إعادة تدوير المعادن المستعملة الناتجة عن عمليات مجموعة إبسون وتلك الناتجة عن المجتمع المحلي كذلك بهدف إنتاج مواد أولية لاستخدامها في منتجات "أتميكس" التي تستخدم مسحوق المعادن. وسيسهم المصنع من خلال استبدال المواد الأولية البكر مثل الحديد المنتج من الأفران العالية بالمعادن المُعاد تدويرها، في الحفاظ على الموارد الجوفية وتقليل انبعاثات ثاني أكسيد الكربون.
وتسعى إبسون إلى تحقيق الاستدامة وإثراء المجتمعات، وكانت قد أعلنت من خلال رؤيتها البيئية 2050 عن هدفها في أن تصبح شركة سالبة للكربون وتتوقف عن استخدام الموارد الجوفية المستنفذة بحلول عام 2050. ويشكل التوسع المستمر في الإنتاج الشامل والتخلص من النفايات مخاطر جسيمة على البيئة العالمية والأنظمة الاجتماعية، ولذلك وبهدف بناء مجتمع مستدام فمن الضروري الانتقال إلى الاقتصاد الدائري. وتلتزم إبسون بتطوير تقنيات بيئية تدعم دوران الموارد وخفض انبعاثات الكربون، لا سيما من خلال الابتكار في المواد.
وتختص شركة "أتميكس" في إنتاج مساحيق المعادن، وكانت قد بدأت في عام 2020 بإعادة استخدام رقائق السيليكون الناتجة عن عمليات أشباه الموصلات لشركة إبسون كمادة خام. ومن ثم وبالتزامن مع ازدياد مخاطر نضوب الموارد وارتفاع تكاليف المواد الأولية البكر، تم تصميم المصنع الجديد لتأمين إمداد مستقر من مساحيق المعادن المُعاد تدويرها.
وستقوم "أتميكس" في موقع "كيتا-إنتر رقم 2" بإعادة تدوير مساحيق المعادن الخارجة عن المواصفات والقصاصات المعدنية الناتجة عن عملياتها الإنتاجية، إضافة إلى القوالب المستعملة وبقايا المعادن من عمليات مجموعة إبسون. وسيتم تنقية هذه المواد إلى مواد خام عالية الجودة يمكن استخدامها لاحقاً في المقر الرئيسي لشركة "أتميكس" وفي مصنع "كيتا-إنتر" لإنتاج مساحيق المعادن وذلك عبر استخدام تقنيات خاصة بالشركة. كما سيجري استخدام هذه المساحيق في مكونات "القولبة بالحقن المعدني" (MIM). وستسهم عملية التنقية الجديدة في تحقيق إنتاج مستقر لمنتجات عالية الجودة، ودعم تطوير أجهزة الجيل القادم الموفرة للطاقة والمدمجة.
وتجدر الإشارة إلى أن هذا المصنع سيشكل أيضاً موقعاً رئيسياً لدعم رؤية إبسون في التوقف عن استخدام الموارد الجوفية المستنفذة.
