Dedicated teams from the Dubai Maritime
City Authority (DMCA) continue to ensure compliance with new jet ski usage
guidelines and designated mooring areas across the emirate. The group is
conducting constant follow-up patrols along the coastline to maintain smooth
and successful maritime operations and enable users to make the most of the
local marine environment and its best services.
Amer Ali, Executive Director, Dubai
Maritime City Authority, said: “The authorization of open jet ski use in Dubai
requires corresponding support from our dedicated teams to ensure that all
users are provided proper support, assistance and advice whenever needed. The
mission of DMCA’s teams is to directly supervise the new policies on jet ski
use and designated mooring areas and ensure proper use of buoy systems, while
also coordinating with the Dubai Police, Coast Guard, Dubai Municipality and
all industry-related entities to guarantee the desired results.”
“Maritime safety is instrumental to raising
confidence in the local maritime sector and improving its competitiveness on
the way to positioning Dubai among the world’s leading maritime destinations.
Safety-oriented initiatives pave the way for us to create a secure and vibrant
maritime industry that is able to drive the emirate’s economic development and
excellence,” Ali added.
A 300-metre zone has been designated for
jet skis plying Dubai’s beaches at the Dubai Marina, Umm Suqeim 1 and 2 and
Jumeirah 2 and 3. The new guidelines are the result of DMCA’s ongoing
collaboration with the Dubai Municipality, Dubai Police, Coast Guard, and other
relevant entities.
“During our visits to buoys and navigations
systems, we seriously considered feedback from members of marine clubs and
water-sports enthusiasts to maintain safe navigation within marine club areas
and ports,” concluded Ali Al-Dabbous, Executive Director of Operations, Dubai
Maritime City Authority.
