Adoption of Symantec
DeepSight System highlighted as means to access real-time information about
emerging threats

29, 2013- Dubai
Smart Government (DSG) has recently organized an introductory workshop to
highlight its latest services and solutions complementing the Dubai Government’s
Information Security Regulation (ISR). The workshop, which was attended by
representatives of information security sector in all Dubai government
entities, is aimed at boosting investments in Information and Communication
Technology (ICT) infrastructure development, promoting government performance
and achieving a high status within the global knowledge economy.
The
workshop complements the efforts exerted by DSG to fulfil its obligations after
the Information Security Committee has earlier this year adopted DSG’s
Information Security Regulation in implementation of resolution No. 13 for 2012
on information security at Dubai Government which was issued by the Dubai
Executive Council. The aim was to enhance information security and protect its technical
systems in line with an integrated framework and a unified strategy for
information security that will ensure the creation of a secure and reliable
environment to preserve government information efficiently as well as maintain
customer data privacy.

Ahmed Bin Humaidan, Director-General, Dubai Smart Government, said: “The
introductory workshop addressed major strategic themes to create an integrated
digital environment to process government transactions according to the highest
standards of security, reliability and transparency. Spreading information
security culture between local government entities and strengthening mechanisms
for notification of emergency incidents affecting the security infrastructure
are the top most agenda of DSG, which has recently adopted the ISR to
accelerate the transition towards the smart government model.”
“Our
co-operation with two major information security companies, Symantec and
Zeroday comes as part of our commitment at DSG to enhance digital security and
adopt proactive methodologies to reduce IT-related threats. On our part, we pledge
to continue to implement the latest technologies to improve the level of
information security within the framework of government entities in Dubai in
support of the Dubai Smart City project in line with the directives of H.H.
Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister
and Ruler of Dubai,” concluded Bin Humaidan.
Furthermore,
the workshop shed light on the importance of spreading awareness about
information security among government employees and clients and improving the mechanism
of notification among government entities about emergency incidents that affect
the privacy and confidentiality of data. DSG also highlighted the leading
initiatives that will serve the efforts to provide government entities with the
information and preventive measures to reduce the risk of information security
violations, including the adoption of the Symantec DeepSight System as a
unified and reliable source to access real-time information about all emerging
threats and use such information for taking proactive standby measures with the
aim of preserving the security infrastructure of DSG and Dubai government
entities.
DSG representatives
also discussed the security awareness programme and the spread of security
information culture among the employees of government entities which is based
on the Apprenticeship Training Programme and is to be implemented by early 2014
in co-operation with Zeroday, a leading information security service provider.
The program includes training selected government groups in Dubai in various
aspects relating to processing, management, updating, storing, and transferring
of information available to them according to the highest standards of
reliability and confidentiality. Trainees will receive cccredited certificates
upon successfully completing the training course, qualifying them to train and
educate all the employees at the government entity, which the trainee belongs
to. Further, DSG aims to carry out a comprehensive assessment to measure the
efficiency and readiness of the awareness programmes in local government
departments.

حكومة دبي حول خدمات أمن المعلومات وتختار منصة أمنية من "سيمانتك"
[الإمارات، 29 ديسمبر 2013] - تعزيزاً للاستثمار في تطوير البنى التحتية لتكنولوجيا المعلومات
والاتصالات، ودفع عجلة تطوير الأداء الحكومي للوصول إلى الريادة العالمية ضمن
اقتصاد المعرفة؛ نظّمت "حكومة دبي الذكية" أخيراً ورشة عمل تعريفية بحضور
ممثلي قطاع أمن المعلومات في جميع جهات حكومة دبي، لاستعراض أحدث الخدمات والحلول
المتضمّنة في "نظام أمن المعلومات لحكومة دبي".
ويأتي تنظيم الورشة استكمالاً للجهود التي تبذلها حكومة دبي الذكية للوفاء بالتزاماتها، بعد أن اعتمدت
لجنة أمن المعلومات في وقت سابق من هذا العام نظام أمن المعلومات المعدّ من قبل
الدائرة؛ وذلك تنفيذاً لقرار المجلس التنفيذي رقم 13 لسنة 2012 بشأن أمن المعلومات
بحكومة دبي، والذي يهدف إلى تعزيز مستويات أمن المعلومات وحماية الأنظمة التقنية
لديها، وفق إطار عمل متكامل واستراتيجية موحّدة لأمن المعلومات تضمن خلق بيئة آمنة
وموثوقة لتخزين المعلومات الحكومية وحفظها بكفاءة وفعالية عاليتين، والحفاظ على
خصوصية وسرية بيانات المتعاملين.
وتمحورت الورشة حول أهمية نشر ثقافة أمن المعلومات بين أوساط موظفي
الجهات الحكومية والمتعاملين معها، وآلية إخطار تلك الجهات بالحوادث الطارئة المؤثرة
في سرية المعلومات وخصوصيتها.
واستعرضت الدائرة أبرز المبادرات التي تصب في خدمة
الجهود الرامية لتزويد الجهات الحكومية بالمعلومات والتدابير والإجراءات الوقائية التي
تكفل التقليل من مستوى المخاطر المحتملة على صعيد أمن المعلومات، وفي مقدمتها
اختيار المنصة الاستقصائية الأمنية "ديب سايت" من "سيمانتك"؛ كأحد
المصادر الموحدة التي ستعتمد عليها الدائرة
للحصول على معلومات آنية حول التهديدات الناشئة والاستفادة منها في اتخاذ
إجراءات احتياطية استباقية للمحافظة على البنية التحتية الأمنية لدى "حكومة
دبي الذكية"، وجهات حكومة دبي.
كما استعرض ممثلو "حكومة دبي الذكية" برنامج التوعية
الأمنية ونشر ثقافة أمن المعلومات بين موظفي الجهات الحكومية القائم على منهجية "تدريب المتدرّب"، والمقرر تطبيقه اعتباراً
من بداية العام 2014 بالتعاون مع شركة "زيروداي"؛ أحد مزودي
خدمات أمن المعلومات. وينطوي البرنامج على إخضاع مجموعات مختارة من الكوادر
الحكومية في إمارة دبي لتدريب مكثّف حول مختلف الجوانب المتعلقة بمعالجة الكم الهائل من المعلومات المتوافرة لدى الجهات الحكومية، وإدارته
وتحديثه وتخزينه ونقله، وفق أعلى معايير الموثوقية والسرية. وسيحصل المتدربون في
نهاية البرنامج على شهادات معتمدة تؤهلهم لتدريب وتثقيف كافة العاملين
في الجهة الحكومية التي يتبع لها المتدرب. حيث تعتزم "حكومة دبي الذكية"
في مراحل لاحقة إجراء تقييم شامل لقياس مدى كفاءة وجهوزية تطبيق برامج التوعية في
الدوائر الحكومية المحلية.
وتعليقاً على الحدث، قال سعادة أحمد بن حميدان، مدير عام
"دائرة حكومة دبي الذكية": "تناولت الورشة محاور رئيسة ذات أهمية
استراتيجية، وذلك في إطار الجهود الرامية إلى خلق بيئة رقمية متكاملة لمعالجة
المعاملات الحكومية وفق أعلى معايير الأمن والموثوقية والشفافية، باعتبار نشر ثقافة
أمن المعلومات بين أوساط الجهات الحكومية المحلية وتعزيز آليات الإخطار بالحوادث
الطارئة تأتي في مقدمة أولويات
"حكومة دبي الذكية" التي تبنّت أخيراً "نظام أمن المعلومات لحكومة دبي"، والذي شكل إضافة نوعية للجهود الرامية إلى دعم مسيرة التحوّل
المتسارع نحو نموذج الحكومة الذكية".
وأضاف سعادته قائلاً: "يأتي تعاوننا مع اثنتين من
أبرز الشركات الرائدة في مجال أمن المعلومات: "سيمانتك"
و"زيروداي"، كجزء من التزامنا في "حكومة دبي الذكية" بالتعاون
مع القطاع الخاص لتعزيز الأمن الرقمي وتبني منهجيات استباقية للحد من التهديدات الناشئة
ذات الصلة بتكنولوجيا المعلومات. ونحن نلتزم بتبني أحدث التقنيات القادرة على
الارتقاء بمستوى الأمن المعلوماتي في إطار تكامل الأدوار بين الجهات الحكومية في إمارة دبي
دعماً لمشروع "دبي.. مدينة ذكية"
