Twenty-Eight Malls Named as Finalists in Middle East and North Africa Shopping Centre Industry Awards Competition


Dubai, UAE, November 3, 2013 –  Twenty-eight (28) prominent shopping malls and companies have been named as finalists in the 2013 Middle East and North Africa Shopping Centre Awards competition. Jointly sponsored by the Middle East Council of Shopping Centres (MECSC) and the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), the awards program celebrates the achievements of shopping centre owners, developers, management companies, architects, designers and retailers in the categories of design, development and successful shopping centre operation throughout the Middle East and North Africa.
In the category of Advertising the following mall has been named as a finalist:
  • The Avenues, Kuwait City, Kuwait, for their regional advertising campaign
In the category of Cause Related Marketing the following malls have been named as finalists:
  • 360 MALL, Kuwait City, Kuwait, for their entry “The Fun Way to a Healthy Lifestyle”
  • Arabian Centres, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for their entry “Dollani”
  • Arabian Center, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, for their entry “International Drug Day 2013”
  • Arabian Center, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, for their entry “Fast-a-thon”
  • Oasis Centre, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, for their entry “Oasis Wellness Festival”
  • Red Sea Mall, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, for their entry “Civil Defense Awareness Campaign”
In the category of Marketing/Sponsorship the following mall has been named as a finalist:
  • Arabian Centres, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for their entry “GWR Challenge Fair”
In the category of Public Relations the following mall has been named as a finalist:

In the category of Social Media the following mall has been named as a finalist:

In the category of Leasing the following mall has been named as a finalist:

In the category of New Retail Concept the following malls have been named as finalists:
  • Dubai Mall, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, for their entry “Goal”
  • Al Wahda Mall, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, for their entry “ISO Beauty”
  • Arabian Centres, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for their entry “BillyBeez”
  • Lamcy Plaza Mall, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, for their entry “Arabia City Check-in”
In the category of Retail Store Design the following mall has been named as a finalist:
  • Mall of Dhahran, Khobar, Saudi Arabia, for their entry “BillyBeez”
In the category of Overall Marketing the following mall has been named as a finalist:
  • Farsi Center, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, for their entry “Nahdi Pharmaices”
In the category of Renovation and Expansion the following malls have been named as finalists:
  • Al Salaam Mall, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia
  • The Avenues, Kuwait City, Kuwait
“The Middle East and North Africa is home to some of the largest and most advanced enclosed malls and shopping centres in the world and this year numerous submissions from the region for our awards competition,” explained JoAnn Laut, director of global awards, for ICSC.  Our panel of industry judges has narrowed the field down to 28 finalists and on November 25, 2103 at a Gala Dinner at The Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi Beach Resort & Marina, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, we will announce our winners.”
