October 27 2013: Rocco Forte Hotels has today announced the appointment of Gerold J. Held as General Manager for Hotel Astoria in St Petersburg. Mr Held takes over from Walter C. Neumann, who after a successful three years at the hotel will move to Moscow to assume his new role as CEO of Azimut Hotels.
Held has 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry; he brings a wealth of management experience to the new role and joins the company from the Grand Hotel Taschenbergpalais, Kempinski Dresden where he was General Manager. His appointment sees him returning to St Petersburg where from 2005 to 2008, he was General Manager at the Corinthia Nevskij Palace Hotel.
Commenting on the appointment, Ivan Artolli, Rocco Forte Hotels Operations Director UK, Belgium and Russia said: “We are delighted that Gerold will be taking the helm at Hotel Astoria. He brings with him a great blend of hospitality expertise and Russian market knowledge, which will prove invaluable in leading this iconic hotel.”
In his new role, Held is tasked with managing the day to day operation of the iconic 169-room luxury hotel as well as overseeing the management of sister property, the Angleterre Hotel.
Held joins Hotel Astoria at the end of its landmark centenary year during which the property has undergone a multi-million pound refurbishment, culminating in the completion of the 3,500sq ft Czar Suite, 50 junior suites and the opening of the new Astoria Café and Lichfield Bar.
A city landmark for the last century, Hotel Astoria has welcomed many illustrious guests through its doors over the years and is perfectly located on St Isaac’s Square overlooking St Petersburg’s famous cathedral, within strolling distance over the city’s numerous historic attractions.
A Russian speaker, Mr Held holds a degree in Hotel Management from Fritz Gabler Hotel and Catering Management College in Heidelberg, Germany, has completed a number of courses at Cornell University and holds an MBA in Tourism Management

عاماً جديداً لفندق «أستوريا»

دبي، الإمارات العربية المتحدة، 27 أكتوبر 2013: أعلنت فنادق "روكو فورتيه" اليوم عن تعيينها جيرولد جى. هيلد في منصب المدير العام لفندق "أستوريا" العريق في سان بطرسبرغ، حيث سيحل محل والتر سي نيومان الذي سينتقل إلى العاصمة الروسية موسكو لتولي منصبه الجديد كرئيس تنفيذي لسلسلة فنادق "أزيموت"، بعد أن قضى ثلاث سنوات ناجحة من العمل لدى الفندق.
ويتمتع هيلد بخبرة كبيرة تمتد لأكثر من 30 عام ضمن قطاع الخدمات الفندقية، وسيعمل على نقل هذه الخبرة الغنية والحافلة إلى منصبه الجديد قادماً من فندق "غراند تاشنبيرغبالايس كمبينسكي دريسدن"، حيث شغل منصب المدير العام هناك. ويعود هيلد من خلال تعيينه في هذا المنصب الجديد إلى أحضان مدينة سان بطرسبرغ، التي عمل فيها في الفترة ما بين 2005 و2008 وشغل خلالها منصب المدير العام لفندق "كورينثيا نفسكي بالاس".
وفي هذا الصدد، قال إيفان أرتولي، مدير العمليات في المملكة المتحدة وبلجيكا وروسيا لدى فنادق "روكو فورتيه": "يسعدنا تولي جيرولد إدارة فندق "أستوريا"، فهو يتمتع بخبرة واسعة وغنية في مجال الخدمات الفندقية، بالإضافة إلى معرفته العميقة بالسوق الروسية، وإن استثمار هذه الخصال في إدارة هذا الفندق الشهير تعد فرصة لا تقدر بثمن".
وسيضطلع هيلد من خلال منصبه الجديد بمسؤولية إدارة العمليات اليومية لهذا الفندق الفاخر الذي يضم 169 غرفة، بالإضافة إلى إشرافه على إدارة فندق "آنغلتر"، الملكية المرتبطة بفندق "أستوريا".
وسينضم هيلد إلى فريق عمل فندق "أستوريا" في نهاية سنته الشهيرة التي شهدت حلول الذكرى المئوية على افتتاحه، والتي خضع خلالها لعملية تحديث وتطوير بملايين من الجنيهات الإسترلينية، والتي ستنتهي بافتتاح جناح القيصر الفخم الذي
تبلغ مساحته 3,500 قدم مربع، و50 جناحاً صغيراً آخر، بالإضافة إلى افتتاح "مقهى أستوريا" جديد وحانة "ليشفيلد".
وكانت بوابة فندق "أستوريا"، أحد المعالم الحضارية للمدينة على مدى القرن الماضي، قد رحبت باستضافة العديد من الضيوف البارزين والمشاهير على مر السنين. كما يقع الفندق في مكان حيوي ومميز في ساحة القديس اسحق، فهو يطل على كاتدرائية "سان بطرسبرج" الشهيرة، ويبعد مسافة خطوات عن معظم المعالم التاريخية في المدينة.
ويتحدث هيلد اللغة الروسية بطلاقة، ويحمل شهادة البكالوريوس في إدارة الفنادق من فندق "فريتز غابلر" وكلية "إدارة المطاعم" في هايدلبرغ بألمانيا، كما أنه التحق بالعديد من الدورات التدريبية التخصصية في جامعة "كورنيل"، وهو يحمل درجة الماجستير في إدارة الأعمال في مجال إدارة الأعمال السياحية.
