The Reading Club at ALHOSN University, a leading Abu Dhabi-based university dedicated to high-quality, value-based education, is organizing a cultural symposium to discuss “Flashes of Thought,” a book written by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The symposium will be conducted on Sunday, November 17, 2013 from 3:30 to 4:30 pm at Hall 105 the Women’s Campus as part of ALHOSN University’s celebrations marking the UAE’s 42nd National Day.
Sponsored by ALHOSN University, the symposium is expected to attract a large number of intellectuals and those interested in humanitarian issues and life experiences. It will be attended by several faculty members, students and guests curious about cultural and societal issues.
"Flashes of Thought" covers a variety of topics inspired by a dialogue with H.H. Sheikh Mohammed during the Government Summit held in February 2013 where he answered many questions from UAE Nationals, residents, and visitors. The book documents the session and some of its subjects as well as other new ideas and topics. The contents include achieving happiness, the Government of the Future, time management and its importance, the Arab Spring, investment in the UAE, and equestrianism, to name a few.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in his book.”
“H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed, may God protect him, describes the book as a diverse source of life experiences, leadership ideas, and humanitarian opinions from the viewpoint of a successful and seasoned Arab leader. The material should be an integral part of any cultural library, and should be read by every student at the university and all people who are interested in leadership and entrepreneurship as it contains simple thoughts and opinions. This book will also be a source of inspiration for all of us as professors, students, and staff,” he added.
Dr. Mohammed Said Hasab El Naby Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at ALHOSN and Supervisor of the Reading Club, emphasized that the book is unique in terms of language and style, simple in terms of composition, and great in terms of meanings and ideas. He added that the book also presents ideas on modernity, innovation and renewal, and presents the results of experiences gained by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid over the years. Dr. Hasab El Naby pointed out that this literature is of high cultural value and should be read by every teacher, father, mother, and all those who are interested in educational affairs, leadership and success.
Mohammed Al Marzouki from Abu Dhabi Education Council, an alumnus of ALHOSN University, will summarize and discuss the book, while Wadima Al Falahi, another distinguished graduate who took up her master's degree in the university will review the content. Both will take an intellectual tour of this valued book.
ALHOSN University’s Reading Club was established in 2010 with the aim of encouraging students to read and develop their cognitive aspects, as well as to create and promote cultural awareness among university students. The Club's activities have spread outwards to link the university with community and are playing key roles in the cultural movement being witnessed across the UAE.

ينظم نادي القراءة بجامعة الحصن، المؤسسة التعليمية الرائدة في مجال توفير التعليم النوعي والمتميز ومقرها أبوظبي، ندوة ثقافية يستعرض خلالها كتاب "ومضات من فكر" لصاحب السمو الشيخ محمد بن راشد آل مكتوم، نائب رئيس الدولة رئيس مجلس الوزراء حاكم دبي، رعاه الله، وذلك يوم الأحد (17 نوفمبر 2013) من الساعة 3:30 ولغاية الساعة 4:30 بعد الظهر في القاعة 105 بمبنى الطالبات، وتأتي هذه الفعالية في إطار احتفال الجامعة بعيد الاتحاد الثاني والأربعين.
ومن المتوقع أن تستقطب الندوة، التي تحظى برعاية خاصة من الجامعة، عدداً كبيراً من المثقفين والمهتمين بالأفكار الإنسانية والتجارب الحياتية، حيث ستشهد أيضاً حضوراً واسعاً من السادة أعضاء هيئة التدريس والطلبة وضيوف الجامعة من المهتمين بالشأن الثقافي والحضاري والمجتمعي.
ويشتمل كتاب "ومضات من فكر" على موضوعات متنوعة ومستلهمة من الجلسة الحوارية لسموه في القمة الحكومية التي عقدت في فبراير 2013، وأجاب خلالها على أسئلة كثيرة من مواطني دولة الإمارات والمقيمين فيها وزوارها، حيث جاء الكتاب توثيقاً لتلك الجلسة واستطراداً لبعض موضوعاتها، كما اتسع ليشمل أفكاراً ومواضيع جديدة لم يطرحها سموه أثناء جلسته الحوارية. ومن الموضوعات التي تناولها الكتاب، تحقيق السعادة، وحكومة المستقبل، وإدارة الوقت وأهميته، والربيع العربي، والاستثمار في الإمارات والفروسية وغيرها من الموضوعات.
وصرح سعادة الأستاذ الدكتور منذر طلال مومني، مدير جامعة الحصن قائلاً: "يسعدنا تنظيم هذه الندوة والتي تأتي ضمن احتفالات الجامعة بعيد الاتحاد، وستشكل تلك المحاضرة قيمة مضافة لفعاليات نادي القراءة. وحقيقة نحن الآن في الإمارات أمام فصل جديد من التجارب العملية الناجحة التي خاض غمارها صاحب السمو الشيخ محمد بن راشد آل مكتوم رعاه الله، وعبر عنها بكلمات مضيئة يضمها مجلد كتاب، يصفه صاحب السمو الشيخ خليفة بن زايد، حفظه الله، بأنه؛ كتاب متنوع جمع بين تجارب حياتية وأفكار قيادية، وآراء إنسانية جميلة من قائد عربي ناجح ذي تجربة ثرية. وينبغي أن يكون هذا الكتاب جزءاً أصيلاً من المكتبة الثقافية، كما ينبغي أن يقرأه كل طالب في الجامعة وكل مهتم بالقيادة والريادة وذلك لما يتضمنه من آراء وأفكار جاءت في بساطة يتمثلها كل قارئ لها، كما سيمثل هذا الكتاب مصدر إلهام لنا جميعاً من أساتذة وطلبة وموظفين".
من جانبه، أكد الدكتور محمد سعيد حسب النبي، عميد كلية الآداب والعلوم الاجتماعية والمشرف على نادي القراءة، على أن هذا الكتاب يعد فريداً من حيث الصياغة والأسلوب، بسيطاً من حيث التركيب، عظيماً من حيث المعاني والأفكار. كما يطرح الكتاب أفكاراً فيها الحداثة وفيها الابتكار وفيها التجديد، ويطرح النتائج التي تمخضت عن تجارب مقتبسة اكتسبها سمو الشيخ محمد بن راشد على مر السنين. وأشار حسب النبي إلى أن هذا الكتاب يعد قيمة ثقافية رفيعة المستوى ينبغي أن يقرأه كل معلم وأب وأم، وكل مهتم بالشأن التربوي والقيادة والنجاح.
وسيقوم بتلخيص الكتاب وعرضه كل من الأستاذ محمد المرزوقي، من مجلس أبوظبي للتعليم، وهو أحد طلبة جامعة الحصن والمتخريجين فيها، كما سيقوم بالعرض الأستاذة وديمة الفلاحي، الحاصلة على درجة الماجستير، وهي أيضاً إحدى الخريجات المتميزات من جامعة الحصن، حيث سيقوم كل منهما بسياحة فكرية في هذا الكتاب القيم.
وتم إنشاء نادي القراءة بجامعة الحصن عام 2010، بهدف تشجيع الطلبة على القراءة والمطالعة وتنمية الجوانب المعرفية لديهم، وكذلك السعي لتكوين البناء الثقافي وتعزيزه لدى الطالب الجامعي. وما لبث أن امتد نشاط النادي إلى خارج الجامعة ليسهم في ربط الجامعة بالمجتمع وليضطلع بدوره في الحراك الثقافي الذي تشهده دولة الإمارات.
