Barloworld’s new 22,000 sq ft cool storage warehouse can accommodate over 7,000 pallets
[UAE, July 8, 2013] Barloworld Logistics, a leading provider of logistics and supply chain management solutions, recently inaugurated a new cold storage warehouse inside the Jebel Ali Free Zone in response to the UAE’s growing logistics requirements. Advocate Dumisa Ntsebeza, Chairman of Barloworld Limited, personally led the inauguration of the warehouse.
With the industrial sector now contributing 19 per cent of the national GDP, increasing focus is being directed towards support services and facilities for industrial activities. In Dubai, the region’s recognized transport and logistics hub, there has been a sharp rise in demand for specialized facilities to store sensitive products such as food and medicine.
“The logistics landscape of Dubai and the UAE in general continues to diversify amidst the growing scope and influence of the industrial sector. This requires tailored services and facilities that can meet demand while maintaining operational excellence. Barloworld’s new warehouse aims to satisfy an important niche of logistics service while exceeding operational demands and setting an example in sustainability as well,” said Frank Courtney, Barloworld Logistics Chief Executive for the EMEA region.
Barloworld’s 22,000 sq ft cold storage warehouse can maintain temperatures of between 18 and 22 degrees Celsius to carry a host of temperature and humidity-sensitive products such as food and pharmaceuticals. The facility can accommodate more than 7,000 pallet positions and features multiple loading bays for efficiently loading and unloading goods. The high standard of housekeeping employed for the facility surpasses all food safety requirements as well.
Like all Barloworld Logistics warehouses, the new facility has 24-hour CCTV monitoring and onsite security to ensure that goods are safe, don’t incur shrinkage, and are not compromised in any manner. The combination of the Infor10 Warehouse Mobility software and Barloworld’s own web portal enables customers to track their products in real-time and receive customized reports.
Moreover, the warehouse is regarded as the most environmentally-friendly in Barloworld Logistics’ Middle East operations. It incorporates skylights that make use of sunlight without affecting temperature and induction lighting which consumes only 20 per cent of the electricity used by normal lighting at night. The warehouse forklifts operate on bio diesel and come with chargers that use 22 per cent less electricity than regular models. Finally, a water harvesting system captures all the water from the dehumidifier for future use in toilets and gardens.
There were many company officials in attendance; such as Clive Thomson, CEO of Barloworld Limited; Martin Laubscher, CEO of Automotive and Logistics; Steve Ford, CEO of Barloworld Logistics; Frank Courtney, CEO of Barloworld Logistics EMEA, and Brian Phillips - Financial Director of Barloworld Logistics EMEA. Staff from Barloworld Logistics Dubai participated in the event as well.
Barloworld Logistics' key competencies include all of the traditional supply chain and logistics functions, from demand planning, freight forwarding and clearing and inventory solutions, procurement, dedicated transport services, transport management services and warehousing and distribution. الإمارات، 8 يوليو، 2013 - افتتحت "بارلوورلد لوجيستكس" (Barloworld Logistics)، إحدى الشركات الرائدة في مجال توفير حلول الخدمات اللوجستية وإدارة سلسلة الإمداد، مؤخراً مرفقاً جديداً للتخزين المبرد داخل المنطقة الحرة بجبل علي استجابة لتنامي احتياجات قطاع الخدمات اللوجستية في دولة الإمارات. وقام المحامي دوميسا نتسبيزا، رئيس مجلس إدارة شركة "بارلوورلد المحدودة" بالافتتاح الرسمي لمرفق التخزين الجديد.
وفي ظل مساهمة القطاع الصناعي حالياُ بنحو 19% من إجمالي الناتج المحلي في دولة الإمارات، يتزايد التركيز على خدمات ومرافق الدعم الخاصة بالأنشطة الصناعية. ففي دبي، المركز المعروف على مستوى المنطقة في مجال خدمات النقل والعمليات اللوجستية، هناك ارتفاع حاد في حجم الطلب على المرافق المتخصصة لتخزين المنتجات الحساسة مثل الغذاء والأدوية.

ويمكن لمرفق التخزين المبرد الجديد أن يحافظ على حرارة تتراوح ما بين 18 و22 درجة مئوية بما يسمح بتخزين مجموعة من المواد الحساسة للحرارة والرطوبة مثل الأغذية والأدوية. كما يمكنه استيعاب أكثر من 7.000 مكان مخصص للحاويات ويتميز بأقسام متعددة لتحميل وتفريغ البضائع بكفاءة عالية. أما إدارة المرفق المصنفة وفق أعلى المعايير فهي تلبي متطلبات السلامة الغذائية كذلك".
وشأنه شأن كافة مرافق التخزين لشركة "بارلوورلد لوجيستكس"، يحتوي المرفق الجديد على نظام مراقبة على مدار الساعة بتقنية الدائرة التلفزيونية المغلقة، بالإضافة إلى الخدمات الأمنية في الموقع لضمان سلامة المواد وعدم تعرضها للخطر بأي طريقة كانت. كما يتيح برنامج "إنفور 10 ويرهاوس موبيليتي" (Infor 10 Warehouse Mobility) إلى جانب بوابة الإنترنت التابعة لشركة "بارلوورلد" للعملاء تتبع منتجاتهم بشكل فوري والحصول على تقارير مفصلة حولها.
وعلاوة على ذلك، يعتبر مرفق التخزين الجديد الأكثر أماناً من الناحية البيئية ضمن عمليات "بارلوورلد لوجيستكس" في الشرق الأوسط، حيث يحتوي على مناور تستفيد من ضوء الشمس دون التأثير على درجة الحرارة وتساهم في توفير إضاءة تستهلك فقط 20% من إجمالي الطاقة المستخدمة بواسطة الإضاءة الليلية العادية. كما تعمل الرافعات الشوكية في هذا المرفق على الوقود الحيوي وهي مزودة بشواحن تستخدم طاقة كهربائية أقل بنسبة 22% مقارنة بالطرازات المألوفة. وأخيراً، يقوم نظام لتجميع المياه بجمع كافة المياه من العادم لاستخدامها مستقبلاً في الحمامات وري الحدائق.
وحضر حفل افتتاح المرفق الجديد عدد من المسؤولين في الشركة بمن فيهم كليف تومسون، الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة "بارلوورلد لوجيستكس"؛ ومارتن لوبشر، المدير التنفيذي لقسم العمليات اللوجستية؛ وستيف فورد، الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة "بارلوورلد لوجيستكس"؛ وفرانك كورتني، المدير التنفيذي لشركة "بارلوورلد لوجيستكس" في أوروبا والشرق الأوسط وأفريقيا؛ وبرايان فيليبس، المدير المالي لشركة "بارلوورلد لوجيستكس" في أوروبا والشرق الأوسط وأفريقيا. كما شاركت مجموعة من موظفي شركة "بارلوورلد لوجيستكس دبي" في هذا الحفل.
وتشتمل الكفاءات الأساسية لشركة "بارلوورلد لوجيستكس" على كافة الوظائف التقليدية لسلسلة الإمداد والعمليات اللوجستية، بدءاً من إعداد الطلب وحلول الشحن والتخليص والمخزون، مروراً بالمشتريات وخدمات النقل المتخصصة ووصولاً إلى خدمات إدارة النقل والتخزين والتوزيع. وتم تزويد مكاتب الشركة في الشرق الأوسط برخص التخليص والتصديق الجمركي وفق اعتماد "آيزو 9001" (ISO 9001). كما يوجد أربعة مخازن بطاقة استيعابية إجمالية تبلغ أكثر من 23.000 مكان مخصص للحاويات والتي يمكنها تخزين البضائع الجافة، بالإضافة إلى البضائع والشحنات ذات الطبيعة الحساسة للحرارة التي تتراوح من 18 إلى 40 درجة.
