On
Friday, Roche celebrated a decade of commitment to vulnerable children
with the tenth annual Roche Children’s Walk. All over the world, at 123
sites of the Roche Group, employees collected donations for HIV/AIDS
orphans and educational initiatives in Southern Malawi , as well as for
local charities.
The
walk is an important flagship among Roche’s philanthropic activities.
Since the first Children’s Walk Roche employees and the company have
raised funds to provide 17,000 orphans in Malawi with food, clothes and
education in a cooperation with the European Coalition of Positive
People (ECPP), as well as UNICEF Switzerland and UNICEF Malawi.
Roche’s
CEO Severin Schwan said: “This year marks ten years of the Roche
Children’s Walk, an ongoing commitment to a common cause by Roche
employees. As sustainable behaviour is something that is engrained in
the way we do business day to day, we are committed to raise awareness
for those in society who are most vulnerable.”

Nawaya Network; an NGO that empowers disadvantaged youth by connecting
them to various resources to develop their talents and passions.
Throughout the donation, Roche will reinforce Nawaya’s vision to create
an interconnected global community committed to developing the hidden
potential of disadvantaged youth around the world” commented Abed Al
Rahman Sabra, Country Manager of Roche Lebanon.

The
first Roche Children’s Walk took place in 2003. Since then, 115,000
employee walkers from over 100 Roche sites have participated and raised
over 9,6 million Swiss francs to provide lasting assistance to over
17,000 orphans in Malawi.
Every
cent raised in the Roche Children’s Walk goes to the cause. Roche
doubles the donations collected by employees. Since Roche also assumes
all Walk and funding administrative expenses, no donations are spent on
bureaucracy or fundraising costs. External audits ensure that all funds
are used to benefit the children.
احتفلت
روش يوم الجمعة بمرور عقدٍ على التزامها رعاية الأطفال المعرضين للخطر، من
خلال إحياء مسيرة روش للأطفال للسنة العاشرة على التوالي. كما جمع
الموظفون من مختلف أنحاء العالم من خلال 123
موقعاً لشركات روش التبرعات من أجل الأيتام الذين يُعانون من فيروس نقص
المناعة البشرية (الإيدز) إضافة إلى المبادرات التعليمية في جنوب ملاوي،
فضلاً عن الجمعيات الخيرية المحلية.
وتُعتبر
المسيرة من الأنشطة الخيرية الرئيسية التي تقوم بها شركة روش تجاه
الأطفال. فمنذ مسيرة الأطفال الأولى لشركة روش، جمع الموظفون والشركة
التبرعات لتوفير الغذاء والملبس والتعليم لحوالى 17 ألف يتيم في مالاوي
بالتعاون مع التحالف الأوروبي للأشخاص الإيجابيين (ECPP)، وكذلك منظمة الأمم المتحدة للطفولة (اليونيسف) في سويسرا واليونيسيف في مالاوي.
وحول
الموضوع، قال الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة روش، سيفيرين شفان: "يُمثل هذا العام
الذكرى العاشرة لمسيرة روش للأطفال والالتزام المستمر تجاه قضية مشتركة
يتحلق حولها موظفو الشركة. وبما أن السلوك المستدام متأصل في الطريقة التي
نؤدي بها عملنا يومًا بعد يوم، فنحن ملتزمون برفع مستوى الوعي حول أولئك
الأكثر عرضة للخطر في المجتمع".
من
جهته علق عبد الرحمن صبره، مدير شركة روش في لبنان، قائلاً: "منذ العام
الماضي، يساهم موظفو شركة روش في لبنان في دعم جمعية نوايا، وهي منظمة غير
حكومية تعمل على تمكين الشباب المحرومين من خلال تزويدهم بوسائل مختلفة
لتنمية مواهبهم وتحقيق طموحاتهم. وطوال مدة التبرع، ستعزّز روش رؤية
"نوايا" لخلق مجتمع عالمي مترابط يلتزم بتطوير الإمكانات الكامنة عند
المحرومين الصغار في مختلف أنحاء العالم".
يذكر أن شركة روش نظّمت مسيرتها الأولى للأطفال في العام 2003. ومذّاك، شارك 115 ألف موظف في المسيرة من أكثر من 100 موقع يحتضن شركة روش فجمعوا ما يزيد على 9,6 مليون فرنك سويسري لتقديم مساعدة دائمة إلى أكثر من 17
ألف يتيم في مالاوي. ويعود ريع حملة مسيرة روش للأطفال إلى دعم القضية،
بينما تُضاعف روش التبرعات التي يجمعها الموظفون. وبما أن روش تتحمل كافة
النفقات الإدارية للمسيرة والتمويل، لذا لا يتم إنفاق أي من التبرعات على
تكاليف بيروقراطية أو لجمع التبرعات. بل يضمن المدققون المستقلون استخدام
جميع الأموال في سبيل مساعدة الأطفال.
