Event to gather a crowd from 84 countries, including 40 ministers, 5,000 investors and 2,000 experts

The UAE Ministry of Economy, in cooperation with Strategic Marketing and Exhibitions, is holding today (Wednesday, April 24, 2013) a press conference at InterContinental Dubai Festival City, to announce the start of countdown for the opening of the 3rd edition of the Annual Investment Meeting (AIM). The event, which is being organized under the patronage of His Highness (HH) Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, will be held from April 30 to May 2, 2013 at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre (DICEC).
Expected to see great media turnout, the press conference will be headed by His Excellency (HE) Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansoori, UAE Minister of Economy; HE. Khalifa Al Dabous the Executive Vice President of Investment Corporation of Dubai government, Chief Executive Officer, Investment Corporation of Dubai (ICD), the investment arm of the Dubai Government and Dawood Al Shezawi, CEO, Strategic Marketing and Exhibitions, the organizer of the event, in wide presence of strategic sponsors.
Under the theme of “A Future International Economic Landscape in the making, implications on FDI Growth in Frontier and Emerging Countries,” AIM 2013 is poised to see record participation with confirmations from 84 countries, 40 ministers, around 5,000 investors and 2,000 experts so far.
HE Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansoori said that the success of last year’s edition of AIM has urged more presidents, ministers and investors from all over the world to participate this year.
He added that AIM 2013 will be offering new investment prospects through its new agenda of rich events, meetings, economic offerings, exhibitions and panel discussions with ministers, decision makers, investors, businessmen and academics.
The UAE Minister of Economy recalled last year’s edition, which saw outstanding participation from international and regional trade and investment communities-- creating remarkable results and revealed a cluster of promising opportunities many investors were unaware of and was later reflected across multi-billion projects. The edition also saw the signing of new investments, memorandums of understanding (MoU) and cooperation agreements, which contributed to strengthening international relations, particularly for the UAE’s trade and economic relations with the rest of the world.
Al Mansoori further added: “Since its inception two years ago, the Annual Investment Meeting has proved to be a lucrative platform for emerging businesses, which has helped create strategic alliances and new partnerships. We will make sure that this event will continue on this track, even in the years to come.”
HE Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansoori pointed out that AIM has become a leading international event that addresses the needs of rapidly emerging economies, while the world continues to fight back one of the hardest economic crises of its time; facing high rates of unemployment, heavy debts, and restricted economic growth across developed markets. As emerging markets continue to grow and attract Foreign Direct Investments (FDI), AIM provides the ideal platform to help developing countries reveal their strengths and leverage on the investment opportunities available, Al Mansoori added.
HE Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansouri said, “The UAE, which is going through an unprecedented period of growth and development, is playing host to this massive event. Taking into account the fundamental transformations occurring at the international level, which are shaping the new economic landscape on hand and the status quo of the global company that in its turn is affecting growth prospects in developing countries, while on the other hand, AIM will focus this year on the future face of globalization and its implications for foreign direct investment, as well as the investment outlook for emerging and frontier markets.”
HE Mohammed Ibrahim Al Shaibani, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Investment Corporation of Dubai (ICD), the investment arm of the Dubai Government, highlighted the growing importance of AIM for both regional and international levels.
“The event aims to strengthen trade relations and consolidate mutual trade obligations and strategic investments by global investors in high growth economies. Furthermore, AIM will play a huge role in FDI promotion and open partnership opportunities for public and private sectors by shedding light on the economic fundamentals of the 84 countries participating in the event,” added Al Shaibani.
Dawood Al Shezawi, CEO of Strategic Marketing & Exhibitions, organizer of the event in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy, said, “The Annual Investment Meeting will take place on the 30th of April 2013, under the theme “The global economic landscape, its implications for foreign direct investment and the investment outlook for emerging and frontier markets.” AIM meets the urgent needs for holding a FDI meeting driven by developing markets, in light of the growing interests of these markets in attracting regional and international investors, as well as the dynamics and huge economic growth potential of these markets, especially under the unprecedented global economic crisis.”
Al Shezawi added, “The Annual Investment Meeting, which runs for three days, will focus on developing markets and FDI. The event will represent a catalyst for FDI and will play an important role in the promoting the growth of the developed economies, in addition to building relationships with partners and leaders in semi-industrial countries.”
Al Shezawi stressed that AIM will provide a solid base for companies and investors looking for viable projects and attractive returns for their investments. He noted that the event will feature a busy schedule full of bilateral meetings, exhibitions, seminars and workshops, in addition to the recently launched ‘Investment Awards.’

84 دولة و40 وزير و5 آلاف مستثمر و 2000 خبير يجتمعون تحت مظلة الملتقى
دبي – الإمارات العربية المتحدة، 23 أبريل 2013: تعقد وزارة الاقتصاد بالتعاون مع شركة (الاستراتيجي) يوم غد الأربعاء 24 أبريل مؤتمراً صحفياً في فندق الانتركونتننتال - فستيفال سيتي في دبي، تعلن عبره بدء العد التنازلي لإطلاق ملتقى الاستثمار السنوي في دورته الثالثة والذي يحظى برعاية كريمة من صاحب السمو الشيخ محمد بن راشد آل مكتوم نائب رئيس الدولة رئيس مجلس الوزراء حاكم دبي رعاه الله، في الفترة ما بين 30 إبريل وحتى 2 مايو 2013 في مركز دبي الدولي للمؤتمرات والمعارض .
ويترأس المؤتمر الصحفي معالي سلطان بن سعيد المنصوري، وزير الاقتصاد، والسيد خليفة الدبوس، نائب الرئيس التنفيذي في مؤسسة دبي للإستثمارات الحكومية، وداوود الشيزاوي، الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة “الاستراتيجي"، الشركة المنظمة للحدث. كما يحضر المؤتمر عدد كبير من الرعاة الاستراتيجيين للملتقى .
ويتوقع أن يشهد المؤتمر حضوراً إعلامياً كبيراً وخاصة أن ملتقى الاستثمار السنوي في دورته الثالثة سيكون الأكبر في تعداد المشاركين في هذا العام مع تأكيدات 84 دولة و40 وزير ونحو 5 آلاف مستثمر و2000 خبير على حضور الملتقى والذي ستنطلق فعالياته هذا العام تحت عنوان "المشهد المستقبلي للاقتصاد العالمي، وأثاره على الاستثمار الأجنبي المباشر والتوقعات الاقتصادية للأسواق الحدودية والناشئة".
وعلى هامش إطلاق ملتقى الاستثمار السنوي، قال معالي سلطان بن سعيد المنصوري ان النجاح الكبير الذي حققه ملتقى الاستثمار السنوي في العام الماضي كان محفزاً لمشاركة أوسع لرؤساء ووزراء ومستثمرين من مختلف دول ومناطق العالم في الملتقى في دورته الثالثة هذا العام. وأضاف أن ملتقى الاستثمار السنوي سيسهم في فتح آفاق جديدة للمستثمرين من العالم وخاصة أنه يمتلك هذا العام برنامجاً قيماً وغنياً بالفعاليات والاجتماعات والعروض الاقتصادية والمعارض وجلسات النقاش مع وزراء وصناع قرار ومستثمرين ورجال أعمال وأكاديميين.
ولفت المنصوري ان ملتقى الاستثمار السنوي في دورته الماضية كان قد نال إعجاب المشاركة الواسعة والبارزة في أعماله من المجتمعات الاستثمارية والتجارية الإقليمية والدولية مما قاد إلى نتائج ملموسة ومادية والى استكشاف فرص واعدة في أسواق العالم كان الكثير من المستثمرين غائبين عنها، ترجمت فيما بعد إلى مليارات الدولارات من المشاريع. هذا إلى جانب الاستثمارات الجديدة التي خلقت ومذكرات التفاهم واتفاقيات التعاون التي وقعت والتي قادت إلى تعزيز أكبر في العلاقات ما بين بلدان العالم وعلى رأسها العلاقات التجارية والاقتصادية لدولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة مع بلدان العالم .
وأضاف معاليه: "أن ملتقى الاستثمار السنوي الذي تحتضنه دبي أثبت على امتداد العامين الماضيين منذ انطلاقته بأنه كان الأرضية الخصبة والمثمرة بالنسبة لشركات الأعمال الحديثة النشأة، و التحالفات الاستراتيجية و الشراكات الجديدة وهو ما سنحرص على استمراريته خلال أعمال الملتقى هذا العام والأعوام المقبلة بإذن الله." وأكد على أن ملتقى الاستثمار السنوي أصبح اليوم حدثاً دولياً راسخاً يقام بشكل يتناسب مع تلبية احتياجات الاقتصادات الصاعدة التي تشهد نمواً سريعاً، في الوقت الذي يستمر فيه العالم في صراعه ضد واحدة من أكثر الأزمات الاقتصادية صعوبة، و التي أدت إلى تسجيل نسب عالية في البطالة، خلق ديون ثقيلة، و تقييد النمو الاقتصادي في الأسواق الناضجة، في حين تواصل الأسواق الناشئة نموها وتوجيهها للاستثمار الأجنبي المباشر. كما أثبت ملتقى الاستثمار السنوي بأنه الفرصة الأمثل التي تساعد دول العالم النامي على إظهار نقاط قواها وفرص الاستثمار المتاحة فيها.
واستطرد المنصوري قائلاً بأن دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة، وباعتبارها البلد الذي يشهد نمواً غير مسبوق ومتواصل، هي البلد المستضيف صاحب الاختيار والمبادرة لهذا الحدث المهم . أخذاً بعين الاعتبار التحولات الأساسية التي تحدث على الصعيد الدولي، و التي تقوم في الوقت الحالي بتحديد ملامح المشهد الاقتصادي العالمي الجديد من جهة، و الحالة الراهنة للاقتصاد العالمي، التي يبدو أنها توسع من رقعتها تدريجيا و تؤثر على توقعات النمو في دول العالم النامي، من جهة أخرى. وقال إن ملتقى الاستثمار السنوي سيركز هذا العام على محور النقاش المتعلق بالوجه المستقبلي لنظام العولمة وآثارها على الاستثمار الأجنبي المباشر و التوقعات الاستثمارية للأسواق الناشئة والحدودية.
من جانبه، أكد معالي محمد ابراهيم الشيباني، عضو مجلس الإدارة والمدير التنفيذي لدى مؤسسة دبي للإستثمارات الحكومية، على الأهمية المتزايدة لملتقى الاستثمار السنوي إقليمياً ودولياً. وأضاف إلى أن الملتقى يهدف إلى تعزيز العلاقات التجارية وتجديد الالتزامات التجارية المتبادلة، وتوطيد الاستثمارات الاستراتيجية العالمية من قبل المستثمرين نحو اقتصادات عالية النمو، ويعمل الملتقى على تشجيع الاستثمار الأجنبي المباشر وكشف فرص الشراكة بين القطاعين العام والخاص من خلال عرض مقومات اقتصادات البلدان الممثلة فيه بنحو 84 دولة من مختلف مناطق العالم.
وقال داوود الشيزاوي: "يأتى إطلاق ملتقى الاستثمار السنوي بسبب الحاجة الماسة لتنظيم منتدى للاستثمارات الأجنبية المباشرة التي تقودها الأسواق الناشئة في ظل تزايد اهتمام تلك الأسواق كمستثمرين إقليميين ودوليين بسبب النمو الاقتصادي الكبير وديناميكية تلك الأسواق، خاصة في ظل الأزمة الاقتصادية العالمية غير المسبوقة."
وأضاف بأن الملتقى سيركز على الأسواق الناشئة والاستثمارات الأجنبية المباشرة، مشيراً إلى أن الحدث يعتبر محفزاً للاستثمارات الأجنبية المباشرة وسيسهم في نمو الاقتصاديات المتقدمة ذات النمو السريع وفي بناء علاقات مع الشركاء والقيادات في البلدان شبه الصناعية .
وأكد الشيزاوي على أن الملتقى سيوفر قاعدة راسخة للشركات والمستثمرين الباحثين عن مشاريع مجدية وتحقيق عوائد مجزية لاستثماراتهم في بلدان ومناطق العالم، مشيراً إلى أن الملتقى هذا العام سيكون غنياً بالفعاليات واللقاءات والاجتماعات الثنائية والعروض الاقتصادية والمعارض إضافةً لجائزة الاستثمار والتي تم استحداثها لأول مرة في دورات الملتقى.
