Aluminium Middle East 2013 gains support from key regional aluminium industry bodies including Gulf Aluminium Council
[Dubai, April 10, 2013] GCC governments are now moving to attract international investors in the downstream aluminium industry, seeking to further utilize aluminium in diversified industries, according to Mahmoud Al Daylami, General Secretary of Gulf Aluminium Council. The aggressive positioning of the GCC region also reflects the growing dynamism in the global aluminium industry, which is on track to achieve an 8.4 per cent growth in 2013 compared to 3.7 per cent in 2012.
The surging demand in key international markets such as China and the rest of Asia, North America, Latin America, East Europe and the Middle East is fuelling the optimism among aluminium manufacturers and investors in the GCC, as up to 80 per cent of the region’s aluminium production is exported worldwide. Moreover, the sustained growth in construction activities is likewise creating new business opportunities with up to 80 per cent of aluminium supplied in the region being used in the construction sector.
Aluminium smelters operating in the GCC are Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) in Bahrain, Dubai Aluminium (Dubal) in Dubai, Emirates Aluminium (EMAL) in Abu Dhabi, Qatar Aluminium (Qatalum) in Qatar and Sohar Aluminium in Oman. These smelters have collectively produced 3,739,290 tonnes of primary aluminium in 2012, which account for nine per cent of total world production, compared to 3,488,357 in 2011.
With the aggressive expansion drive in the region, the GCC is expected to account for 13 per cent of the world’s total aluminium production by the end of 2013. Moreover, GCC countries are expected to collectively boost aluminium production capacity by up to 40 per cent to reach 5 million metric tons by 2014, from around 3.7 million tons in 2012.
Mahmoud Al Daylami, General Secretary of Gulf Aluminium Council, said: “The growth potential of the GCC’s aluminium industry remains exceptionally high and the government’s proactive efforts to expand the industry towards the downstream sector is expected to unlock more growth opportunities in the future. The upcoming Aluminium Middle East 2013 in Dubai will therefore serve as a very important platform to identify various challenges and explore new possibilities to sustain the long-term growth of the region’s aluminium industry. The Gulf Aluminium Council is supporting this initiative as the continuing success of Aluminium Middle East serves as a strong manifestation of the region’s enormous growth potential and the level of attention that the GCC has received from global industry players and investors.”

دول الخليج تطرح فرصا استثمارية في مجالات صناعات الألمنيوم التحويلية
"معرض ألمنيوم الشرق الأوسط 2013" يحظى بدعم هيئات صناعة الألمنيوم الإقليمية من بينها "المجلس الخليجي للألمنيوم"
دبي، 10 أبريل، 2013 - كثّفت دول مجلس التعاون الخليجي جهودها لجذب مستثمرين دوليين جدد في مجالات صناعات الألمنيوم التحويلية وإدخال الألمنيوم في الصناعات المتنوعة على نطاق أوسع، وذلك وفقاً لما صرّح به محمود الديلمي، الأمين العام لـ "المجلس الخليجي للألمنيوم". وتعكس المساعي الخليجية لطرح فرص استثمارية واعدة في مجالات صناعة الألمنيوم نمو هذه الصناعة على المستوى العالمي، حيث من المتوقع أن تنمو صناعة الألمنيوم العالمية 8.4% هذا العام مقارنة بـ 3.7% في العام 2012.
ويسهم الطلب المتزايد في الأسواق الدولية الرئيسية مثل الصين وبقية آسيا وأمريكا الشمالية وأمريكا اللاتينية وأوروبا الشرقية والشرق الأوسط في زيادة التفاؤل في أوساط مصنعي الألمنيوم والمستثمرين على مستوى دول مجلس التعاون الخليجي، حيث يصدر 80% من إنتاج المنطقة من الألمنيوم إلى جميع أنحاء العالم. علاوة على ذلك، يسهم النمو المستدام لقطاع الإنشاءات في فتح آفاق استثمارية جديدة، حيث يذهب 80% من الألمنيوم المورد في المنطقة إلى الأعمال الإنشائية.
وتحتضن منطقة الخليج 5 مصاهر رئيسية للألمنيوم هي: شركة ألمنيوم البحرين (ألبا) في البحرين، ودبي للألمنيوم (دوبال) في دبي، وشركة الإمارات للألمنيوم (إيمال) في أبوظبي، وشركة قطر للألمنيوم (كاتالوم) في قطر، وصحار للألمنيوم في عمان. وتمكنت هذه المصاهر الخمسة في العام 2012 من إنتاج 3,739,290 طن من الألمنيوم الأولي، أي نحو 9% من الإنتاج العالمي من الألمنيوم، مقارنة بـ 3,488,357 طن في العام 2011.
وفي ضوء عمليات التوسع بصناعة الألمنيوم على مستوى دول مجلس التعاون الخليجي، يتوقع أن تستحوذ المنطقة على حصة تعادل 13% من الإنتاج الإجمالي العالمي من الألمنيوم بنهاية العام 2013. كما تسعى دول الخليج إلى زيادة الطاقة الإنتاجية من الألمنيوم بما يصل إلى 40% أو ما يعادل 5 مليون طن متري بحلول عام 2014، مقارنة بـ 3.7 مليون طن متري في العام 2012.
وأفاد الديلمي بأنّ آفاق النمو بصناعة الألمنيوم الخليجية لا تزال واعدة وأنّ الجهود الإستباقية للحكومات الخليجية لتوسعة القطاع وطرح فرص استثمارية في مجالات صناعات الألمنيوم التحويلية ستفتح المزيد من آفاق النمو في المستقبل، مشيراً إلى أنّ هذه الجهود تؤكد مكانة المنطقة كمركز رئيسي لصناعات الألمنيوم.
ولفت الديلمي إلى أنّ الدورة المقبلة من "معرض ألمنيوم الشرق الأوسط 2013" بدبي تمثل منصة تفاعلية متخصصة لتحديد كافة التحديات ومناقشة أحدث القضايا والمستجدات بصناعة الألمنيوم واستعراض الفرص الاستثمارية الجديدة المتاحة، وذلك بهدف الحفظ على نمو قطاع الألمنيوم في المنطقة على المدى الطويل، مؤكداً دعم "المجلس الخليجي للألمنيوم" لنشاطات المعرض. وقال: "إنّ النجاح المتواصل لـ "معرض ألمنيوم الشرق الأوسط" يرسل رسالة قوية مفادها بأنّ منطقة الخليج العربي تمتلك إمكانات نمو هائلة وتزخر بفرص إستثمارية واعدة وأنّها محط أنظار صنّاع القرار وكبار المستثمرين على مستوى العالم."
