Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA), the government authority charged with regulating, coordinating and supervising all aspects of the maritime sector in Dubai, has announced that it will share key insights on the growing importance of Islamic financing in the maritime sector during its participation at the 9th Annual Marine Money Gulf Ship Finance Forum, which will be held at the Emirates Towers Hotel in Dubai on March 6, 2013.
The specialized discussion session about Islamic finance within the maritime sector in the Middle East will take place during the Marine Money forum and with the support of Dubai Maritime City Authority.

The Annual Marine Money Gulf Ship Finance Forum has been a leading platform to discuss key issues in the Middle East shipping industry, including those related to opportunities in shipping investments. DMCA will be highlighting the growing importance of Islamic financing as a viable alternative source of capital in light of the slowdown in traditional shipping financing facilities.

Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, President, Dubai Maritime City Authority, said: "Dubai's transformation into a major maritime hub has opened a huge window of opportunities for maritime industry players to move ahead with their growth plans and expand their reach across new global markets. Shipping companies worldwide, however, have been affected by the slowdown in financing facilities, particularly from traditional sources such as European banks that are still coming to terms with the European debt crisis and the legacy shipping portfolios already on their books.
Bin Sulayem added: "We believe this is a great opportunity to highlight the strategic advantages of Islamic financing as an excellent alternative to traditional financing. كشفت "سلطة مدينة دبي الملاحية" (DMCA)، الجهة الحكومية المسؤولة عن عمليات الإشراف وتنظيم وإدارة مختلف الجوانب المتعلقة بالقطاع البحري في دبي، عزمها على تبادل الرؤى المعمقة والدخول في مناقشات موسعة حول الأهمية المتزايدة لاستراتيجيات التمويل الإسلامي ضمن القطاع البحري، وذلك خلال دعمها ومشاركتها في "المنتدى السنوي التاسع لتمويل السفن في منطقة الخليج العربي" الذي تنظمه "مارين موني" (Marine Money) في 6 آذار/مارس الجاري في فندق "جميرا أبراج الإمارات" في دبي.
وتشارك السلطة البحرية مع مؤسسة مارين موني بجلسة نقاش متخصصة هي الأولى من نوعها التي تعقد حول التمويل الإسلامي ضمن القطاع البحري في الشرق الأوسط. وقالت السيدة ميا جينسن، المدير العام الإقليمي لعمليات مارين موني في أوروبا والشرق الأوسط "نحن في مارين موني نسعى على الدوام على توفير منصة تبادل آراء والحوار مع كبار صناع القرار في تمويل السفن في العالم من جهة، وملاك السفن من جهة أخرى. ومن المؤكد أن يكون للتمويل الإسلامي للسفن محط اهتمام القطاع البحري، لكثرة التحديات على تمويل السفن بالطرق التقليدية. ونحن سعداء للغاية أن نعقد هذه الورشة الأولى في دبي ونشكرالعاملين بسلطة مدينة دبي الملاحية لقيامهم بطرح المبادرة علينا وشراكتهم معنا بتقديمها في دبي للمرة الأولى."
ويمثل "المنتدى السنوي لتمويل السفن في منطقة الخليج العربي" منصة تفاعلية رائدة لمناقشة أبرز القضايا المؤثرة على القطاع البحري في منطقة الشرق الأوسط واستعراض أهم الفرص الواعدة على مستوى
الاستثمار في قطاع السفن. وخلال الدورة التاسعة من الحدث، ستقوم "سلطة مدينة دبي الملاحية" بتسليط الضوء على تزايد أهمية التمويل الإسلامي باعتباره مصدر حيوي وبديل للتمويل التقليدي."
وقال سعادة سلطان بن سليم، رئيس "سلطة مدينة دبي الملاحية": "ساهم تحول دبي إلى مركز بحري عالمي في فتح آفاق واعدة وفرص كبيرة أمام أبرز اللاعبين الرئيسيين ضمن القطاع البحري للمضي قدماً في تطبيق استراتيجيات النمو وخطط التوسعة الطموحة لدخول أسواق عالمية جديدة. لقد تأثرت شركات السفن العالمية إلى حدّ كبير بتباطؤ التمويل لا سيّما التمويل التقليدي المقدم من البنوك الأوروبية التي لا تزال تحاول التوصل إلى حل لأزمة الديون الأوروبية ."
