Capturing the ima-gination of young people visiting the city, Hotel Savoy is bringing to life with the Pinocchio Experience and the abstract story of the lovable, naughty little pup-pet who walks and talks and whose nose grows longer and longer every time he tells a lie.

During a three-hour workshop taught by Barbara Bersellini, a renowned restorer and member of The Carlo Lorenzino Pinocchio’s Cultural Association, each child will choose a piece of wood to personalise. Decorating their chosen object using arts and crafts skills typical of the artisan culture of Florence, children can draw inspiration from the story of Pinocchio and the city of Florence itself.
The characters in Pinocchio are vivid and memorable. The children might choose to draw ‘Il grillo parlante’ (Jiminy Cricket) on a pencil box, bring the Blue Fairy to life on a jewellery box, or whittle a statue of the frisky feline, Figaro. After the workshop Bersellini will finish the object to a professional standard using safe and non-toxic materials and they will be delivered to the children’s bedroom the following day to take home as a memento.
For families wishing to further explore the city, the Pinocchio Cultural Association has also created a tour of Florentine artisans producing Pinocchio-themed products such as jewellery at Penko’s and la Bottega delgi Zecchini di Pinocchio, wooden toys at La Bottega di Mastro Geppetto or the indulgent cakes at Pasticceria Sieni.
Following a day of exploring, children can continue their Pinocchio-inspired trip at Hotel Savoy and take to their beds with the book while parents can relax at the dining venues and enjoy a specially designed Pinocchio-themed menu.
The Pinocchio Experience at Hotel Savoy includes a Pinocchio book and personalised cotton smock to be worn during the workshop. وخلال ورشة العمل الممتدة على ثلاث ساعات تحت إشراف "باربرا برسيليني"، المرممة الشهيرة والعضو في "جمعية بينوكيو الثقافية لكارلو لورينزينو"، يقوم كل طفل باختيار قطعة من الخشب وتجسيد شخصية منها. ثم يعمدون إلى تزيين قطعتهم المختارة باستخدام المهارات الفنية والحرفية التي يتبعها الحرفيون في فلورنسا، ويمكن للأطفال الاستلهام من قصة "بينوكيو"، ومن مدينة فلورنسا نفسها.
وتتمتع الشخصيات في رواية "بينوكيو" بالحيوية والديمومة. وقد يختار الأطفال رسم "إلجريلوبارلانتي" (كريكيت جيميني) على المقلمة، أو رسم الجنية الزرقاء على صندوق المجوهرات، أو صنع تمثال لـ"فيجارو" القط المرح. وبعد ورشة العمل ستنهي "برسيليني" المادة المصنوعة وفق المعايير الاحترافية باستخدام مواد آمنة وغير سامة ومن ثم إرسالها إلى غرف نوم الأطفال في اليوم التالي لأخذها معهم إلى الوطن كتذكار.
وفيما يتعلق بالعائلات الراغبة بمواصلة استكشاف المدينة، قامت "جمعية بينوكيو الثقافية" بإعداد جولة إلى الحرفيين في فلورنسا الذين يصنعون منتجات مستوحاة من قصة "بينوكيو" مثل المجوهرات في "بنكو" ومتجر "بينوكيو"، والألعاب الخشبية في متجر "ماسترو جيبتو" أو الكعك لدى معجنات "سيني".
وعقب يوم من الاستكشاف، يمكن للأطفال مواصلة رحلتهم المستوحاة من قصة "بينوكيو" في فندق «سافوي»، وأخذهم إلى أسرتهم مع الكتاب، بينما يمكن للآباء الاسترخاء في المطعم والاستمتاع بتناول قائمة من المأكولات المعدة خصيصاً والمستوحاة من القصة.
