Ministry of Health confirms participation at Arab Health 2021

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 6 June 2021: The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) has confirmed its participation at Arab Health 2021, the largest exhibition for the healthcare industry in the MENA region, which will take place at the Dubai World Trade Centre from 21-24 June under the theme 'United by Business'.

The Ministry will showcase a range innovative services, projects, and initiatives that leverage both smart and robotic systems, enhanced digital health practices and telemedicine, upgraded mental health services, big data and predictive models for managing health facilities, and implemented health information systems, among other flagship projects. These underscore the Health Ministry's strategy to deliver comprehensive, innovative, and world-class health services.

This year's Arab Health will provide the perfect platform to spotlight the flagship projects and tremendous efforts being made by the Ministry of Health to deliver healthcare services. It will also shed light on what has been achieved in the fields of health care quality, the implementation of flagship preventive and curative projects, as well as the success in achieving business continuity amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

These efforts are designed to help encourage people to keep faith in the UAE's ability to pass the Covid-19 crisis, cultivate the spirit of optimism that the recovery phase is right around the corner, and that the UAE is moving firmly and steadily towards global leadership leaving behind all crises and challenges. According to the 2020 Legatum Prosperity Index, the UAE has ranked first in the world in the Health Care Coverage Index.

H.E AbdulRahman bin Mohamed Al-Owais, the Minister of Health, said: “The UAE's forward-looking vision has placed healthcare among the most important national priorities, with the aim of providing world-class, comprehensive, and integrated healthcare services fulfilling the requirements of the sustainable development process, under a flexible and sophisticated government system whose foundations were laid by the UAE's wise leadership as a roadmap for country's march towards the UAE Centennial 2071.”

Al-Owais highlighted the importance of Arab Health in strengthening the UAE's status as a prestigious global hub in the fields of medicine, science, and healthcare, and harnessing technology to improve the quality of life and the sustainability of health services.

“Our participation in Arab Health aims to reinforce the UAE’s position as a leading healthcare hub through initiatives and projects focusing on cementing the preventive aspect and combating epidemics and chronic diseases, according to national indicators and performance standards,” he added, 

Al-Owais went on to say: “Arab Health this year comes at a time when the UAE has unlocked significant achievements in relation to the management, governance, and effective response to Covid-19, thanks to the national resilience in readiness, proactive plans, and the efficiency of the health system and the commitment to ensuring the continuity of business and services to maintain the state's gains.”

Al-Owais pointed to the UAE's leadership in providing the Covid-19 tests and vaccines to all community members, in order to enhance the acquired immunity, maintain the health and safety of the individuals, and move steadily and confidently toward the recovery phase.

The Health Minister concluded by commending the dedication, sacrifices, and tremendous efforts being made by the heroic teams in the front line of defense to maintain the health and safety of everyone.

Wouter Molman, Executive Vice President for Informa Markets, said: “The UAE Government and MoHAP have done an incredible job in welcoming the world, without restrictions, and ensuring events such as Arab health can go ahead. A range of strict precautionary and preventive measures have been implemented to ensure that events can go ahead safely.

In addition to MoHAP, other government entities attending the show this year include Dubai Healthcare City Authority, Dubai Health Authority, and the Dubai Government. They will be joined by a host of leading healthcare companies, thousands of medical product suppliers, and the latest innovative technology from around the world.

حلول رائدة في الرعاية الصحية

Mitsubishi Power Concluded Three LTSA Contracts Covering Six Gas Turbines Powering Three 750 MW Class GTCC Power Plants in Egypt at Signing Ceremony

YOKOHAMA, JAPAN (June 4, 2021) – Mitsubishi Power, a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) Group, has concluded, simultaneously, three 16-year long-term service agreement (LTSA) covering six M701F gas turbines, two each delivered, for Sidi Krir Power Station, El Atf Power Station and Cairo North GTCC plants in Egypt. These plants operate natural-gas-fired gas turbine combined cycle (GTCC) generators with a rated output of 750 MW. Mitsubishi Power will ensure stable, high-availability operation of facilities by providing maintenance, management, parts supply, parts repair and remote monitoring services for the gas turbines, and enhance the power supply stability throughout Egypt.

 

The LTSA signing ceremony was held at Sidi Krir Power Station, some 50 km west of Alexandria on the Mediterranean Sea coast, on May 31. Besides Mitsubishi Power and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Regional Executives, the attendees included senior representatives from: the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy, the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company (EEHC), which lead the power generation and transmission operations in Egypt, the Embassy of Japan in Egypt (EoJ), and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Cairo Office.

 

Representing the Egyptian side, Mr. Gaber Dussoki the Chairman of the EEHC, offered the following remarks: we highly trust and appreciate the Japanese Manufactures technology, especially Mitsubishi Power who showed full commitment to fulfil the EEHC requirements through our long and historical cooperation.

 

Speaking on behalf of Mitsubishi Power was Carlos Gonzalez Peton, CEO of Mitsubishi Power Europe, Ltd, the Company’s London-based subsidiary that overseas operations in the EMEA region. “This year marks the 10^th anniversary of Mitsubishi Power Group’s establishment of a local service organization in Egypt. Thanks to the significant support provided from Japan, we provide our local market with safe, timely and high quality power generation systems and services, ensuring results exceed our customers’ expectations. Now, with the conclusion of this 16-year LTSA, we will be able to continue to provide our customers, in Egypt, with optimal responsive services, and by doing so we look forward to further enhancing our ties of friendship.”

 

Today’s ceremony had a dual purpose, to further celebrate and acknowledge the 80% progress of the upgrade and rehabilitation, JICA financed, contract signed in May 2019 to the two power stations at Sidi Krir and El Atf Power Stations. Despite the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, they are expected to be fully completed by November 2021.

 

Sidi Krir Power Station and El Atf Power Station, ordered upgrades increasing the plants’ output, improving their power generation efficiency, and reducing facility downtime, the upgrade to Cairo North GTCC plant was completed in May 2019, and is now in operation with improved efficiency and output.

 

Today, in addition to developing new power generation systems, Mitsubishi Power is also focusing on upgrades and performance improvements at existing facilities, and service business. Going forward, the Company will continue to support the stable supply of power and efficient power generation in locations around the world, thereby contributing to the promotion of decarbonization, economic development and the creation of highly sustainable energy systems on a global scale.

In this favorable context, many key players of the French expertise in energy, mobility, water & sanitation, waste management, health and digital innovation, seized this opportunity to bring on board their best solutions in favor of an Egyptian sustainable development.

Since 2016 and the structural reforms undertaken by the Egyptian authorities with the support of the International Monetary Fund, Egypt has consolidated and developed strong economic relations with many nations, in particular with Europe, currently acting as Egypt’s first trading partner, first foreign investor, and first contributor in terms of development aid.

Since the European Union and the International Financial Institutions (IFIs) are dedicating important financial resources to Egypt’s sustainable economic development, this event contributes to encourage the private sector to play a key role in the Egyptian economic growth while giving the SME’s credit access. 

As the main sector priorities considered by both IFIs’ and Egyptian Authorities’ are the renewable energies, mobility, health, water & sanitation, food security, education, and innovation/digitalization, we selected the following delegation to move the initiative forward: ALSTOM, BEAUDREY et CIE, COPPELIS, ETF, MAIDIS, MASCARA , RAGNI, RATP Dev, SETEC, SNCF, SOFIA EUROPA, STEAM France, SUEZ, TESALYS, THALES, VEOLIA, VINCI and VOLTALIA  .

The French Development Agency (AFD) itself is also strongly assisting Egypt in its transition towards a more inclusive and sustainable growth, mainly in energy (30% of its Egyptian portfolio, Egypt being AFD’s main partner regarding energy investments), water and sanitation (together with EIB and EU), health and social protection.

“As a testimony of the initiative’s relevance, all the IFIs active in Egypt – World Bank, IFC, AfDB, EBRD, EIB, EU, and Agence Française pour le Développement – are joining the event. Altogether,  we count on this three-day event to pave  the path to a wide, fruitful, and long-lasting cooperation for a more sustainable social and economic development in Egypt” commented Philippe Garcia – Director of Business France Egypt. 

On the occasion of this business event, Business France along with the French Embassy in Egypt aim to increase the commercial cooperation between France and Egypt through a series of high-level discussions and meetings.

18 شركة فرنسية تلتقي المؤسسات المالية الدولية وكبرى مجموعات القطاع الخاص المصري

منذ 2016 قامت الحكومة المصرية بإصلاحات هيكلية بمساندة صندوق النقد الدولي وطورت مصر علاقات اقتصادية قوية مع بقية العالم ولاسيما أوروبا التي باتت اليوم أول شريك تجاري لها وأول مستثمر أجنبي بها وأول مساهم في المساعدات العامة للتنمية. 

يخصص الاتحاد الأوروبي والمؤسسات المالية الدولية مصادر مالية كبيرة لصالح التنمية الاقتصادية المستدامة في مصر بالتعاون الوثيق مع السلطات المحلية. ويأتي من ضمن أولوياتهما تشجيع القطاع الخاص كي يلعب دورا رئيسيا في النمو الاقتصادي المصري وكذلك تسهيل توفير القروض للشركات المتوسطة والصغيرة.

وتعد قطاعات الطاقة المتجددة والنقل والصحة والمياه وتنقية المياه والصناعات الغذائية الزراعية والأمن والتعليم والابتكار/ رقمنه سلاسل القيمة من ضمن أهم القطاعات التي توليها المؤسسات المالية الدولية وكذلك السلطات المصرية الأولوية حاليا. وتقدم الوكالة الفرنسية للتنمية (AFD) بوجه خاص لمصر مساندة هامة من أجل مرافقتها في التحول نحو نمو أكثر استدامة وأكثر إدراجا لكافة الأطراف فيها وبصفة رئيسية في قطاعات الطاقة (30% من مجموع الالتزامات المالية المقدمة من الوكالة في مصر؛ تعد مصر أول شريك للوكالة الفرنسية للتنمية في العالم من حيث الاستثمارات في قطاع الطاقة) والمياه وتنقية المياه (بالتعاون مع البنك الأوروبي للاستثمار والاتحاد الأوروبي) والصحة والحماية الاجتماعية.

في هذا السياق الإيجابي وفي الوقت الذي باتت فيه العلاقات الفرنسية-المصرية أكثر كثافة، تتشرف وكالة بزنس فرانس بتنظيم "اللقاءات الفرنسية مع المؤسسات المالية الدولية وكبري مجموعات القطاع الخاص المصري"، وهو الحدث الذي يستقبل أول بعثة تجارية فرنسية في مصر منذ فبراير 2020. ففي الفترة من 7 إلى 9 يونيو، ستقوم 18 شركة فرنسية – ALSTOM, BEAUDREY et CIE, COPPELIS, ETF, MAIDIS, MASCARA, RAGNI, RATP Dev, SETEC, SNCF, SOFIA EUROPA, STEAM France, SUEZ, TESALYS, THALES, VEOLIA, VINCI CONSTRUCTION et VOLTALIA – من ضمن أشهر الشركات الفرنسية من حيث الخبرة في مجالات الطاقة والنقل والمياه وتنقية المياه ومعالجة المخلفات والصحة والخدمات الرقمية بعرض أفضل الحلول في تخصصاتها لصالح تنمية اقتصادية مستدامة في مصر.

وبرهانا منها على أهمية هذه المبادرة، فإن الاتحاد الأوروبي والمؤسسات المالية العاملة في مصر- البنك الدولي ومؤسسة التمويل الدولية وبنك التنمية الأفريقي والبنك الأوروبي للتنمية وإعادة الإعمار والبنك الأوروبي للاستثمار والوكالة الفرنسية للتنمية- ستشارك جميعها في هذا الحدث. فمعاً واعتماداً أيضا على المساندة الثمينة لكبرى الشركاء بالقطاع الخاص المصري الذي يشارك أيضا في هذا الحدث، سنقوم بتحضير مشروعات تؤسس لتعاون مثمر ودائم.
