Global Beam and ORBCOMM to deliver complete IoT solution offerings in UAE

Etihad ESCO announces completion of Hatta Solar retrofit project





7,756 photovoltaic (PV) solar panels installed over roofs of 554 Hatta villas


Project to generate 3,612,357-kilowatt hour (KWh) of power annually


Annual reduction of CO2 emissions by 2,159 tons among many benefits




UAE, 13 February 2019 – With DEWA’s support and sponsorship, Etihad Energy Services Company (Etihad ESCO), the wholly-owned subsidiary of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), announced the successful completion of the Hatta solar retrofit project, which included installation of 7,756 photovoltaic (PV) solar panels over the roofs of 554 Hatta villas. The project, which forms part of DEWA’s Shams Dubai initiative, aims to generate 3,612,357-kilowatt hour (KWh) of energy annually out of 554 newly retrofitted villas. The average peak power of the solar PV system installed (kWp) on each villa is 4.5KWp, with the total solar PV system installed for all villas amounting to 2,493KWp.

With the completion of the project, each villa will now generate 6,520KWh of power every year, which will result in the production of 3,612,357 KWh power in total. In addition, an annual reduction in CO2 emissions by 2,159 tons, will be a remarkable achievement of the project. The project is part of the Shams Dubai initiative, which encourages building owners to install solar panels on their rooftops to generate electricity from solar power and link it to DEWA’s grid to allow transfer of surplus generation. The project’s maintenance services will also be provided by Etihad ESCO for a period of one years from completion.

Ali Al Jassim, CEO, Etihad ESCO, said: “We are glad to have accomplished our goal of time-bound completion of the Hatta solar retrofit project. بدعم ورعاية كريمة من هيئة كهرباء ومياه دبي، أعلنت شركة الاتحاد لخدمات الطاقة "الاتحاد إسكو"، الشركة المتخصصة في مجال خدمات الطاقة والمملوكة بالكامل من قبل هيئة كهرباء ومياه دبي، عن إتمامها بنجاح مشروع حتا للطاقة الشمسية، الذي اشتمل على تركيب 7.756 لوحة للطاقة الشمسية الكهروضوئية على أسطح 554 فيلا في منطقة حتا. ويهدف المشروع، الذي يأتي في إطار مبادرة شمس دبي التي أطلقتها هيئة كهرباء ومياه دبي، إلى توليد 3.612.357 كيلو واط ساعي من الكهرباء سنوياً من لوحات الطاقة الشمسية التي تم تركيبها على أسطح 554 فيلا، حيث يبلغ متوسط توليد الطاقة في أوقات الذروة لنظام الطاقة الشمسية في كل فيلا 4.5 كيلو واط ساعي، أما إجمالي متوسط الطاقة التي يولدها النظام في كافة الفلل فيبلغ 2.493 كيلو واط ساعي. 

ومع اكتمال المشروع، سيتم توليد 6.520 كيلو واط ساعي من الكهرباء في كل فيلا سنوياً ليصل إجمالي الطاقة المولدة من كافة الفلل إلى 3.612.357 كيلو واط ساعي. كما سيسهم المشروع في تخفيض 2.159 طن من انبعاثات ثاني أكسيد الكربون، وهو ما يعد إنجازاً كبيراً لهذا المشروع. ويعتبر مشروع حتا للطاقة الشمسية جزءاً من مبادرة شمس دبي، التي تشجع أصحاب المنازل على تركيب لوحات الطاقة الكهروضوئية على أسطح منازلهم من أجل توليد الكهرباء من الطاقة الشمسية وربطها بنظام توزيع الطاقة في دبي من أجل السماح بتصدير الفائض إلى شبكة هيئة كهرباء ومياه دبي. كما ستقوم "الاتحاد إسكو" بتوفير خدمات الصيانة لهذا المشروع لمدة عام من تاريخ اكتمال المشروع.
