Teachers Earn Professional Diploma at AURAK

Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates– October 24, 2016 – (ME NewsWire): A number of teacher from the Ras Al Khaimah public school system have earned professional diplomas after completing a professional development program at the American University of Ras Al Khaimah’s (AURAK’s) Center for Continuing Education and Community Services (CCE&CS).

A total of 28 teachers received the diploma upon completion of the one-year program at a graduation ceremony hosted by the university. The program, which was sponsored by the Sheikh Saqr Program for Government Excellence (SSPGE), was organized and delivered in conjunction with the Ministry of Education and RAK Educational Zone. It contained general pedagogical training as well as subject-specific courses designed to enhance effectiveness in the classroom.

Professor Hassan Hamdan Al Alkim, AURAK president, praised the initiative and thanked the SSPGE and RAK Educational Zone for their support. He commented, “Education is the fuel of economic and societal development, and I am delighted to see AURAK actively contributing to the wider Ras Al Khaimah community.”

Ms. Sumayya Hareb, director of RAK Educational Zone, and Mr. Hichem Mezghani, manager of the CCE&CS, also spoke at the ceremony. Both parties reiterated their appreciation for the SSPGE’s support and stated their intent to organize future programs which will contribute to the development of education in Ras Al Khaimah.

The CCE&CS, which falls under the umbrella of the American University of Ras Khaimah, aims to enhance professional and technical skills of the learners to meet their lifelong professional and educational needs with the job market’s requisites. It provides a number of training and professional development courses throughout the year.

و بهذه المناسبة قال البروفيسور حسن حمدان العلكيم رئيس الجامعة الأمريكية في رأس الخيمة ان الجامعة على أهبة الاستعداد والحرص للتعاون مع المؤسسات التعليمية لتنفيذ برامج تمكن المعلم من أداء رسالته الحضارية الانسانية على أكل وجه من خلال مدارس المستقبل التي لا تعتمد على التقنيات الحديثة فحسب بل على معلم يتمتع بالقدرة الفائقة ويتملك وسائل التدريس وادواته العصرية المتطورة التي تجعل من التعليم دافعا للتنمية الاقتصادية والاجتماعية،قائلا :" يسعدني أن أرى جامعتنا تساهم بفعالية في تنمية مجتمع رأس الخيمة على نطاق واسع."

Seaborne oil trade grows by 4.7% in 2015 despite low oil prices

Seatrade Tanker Middle East marks uptick in crude business as operators generate higher profits, but eye an uncertain future; conference expects lively debate amid testing market conditions

The eighth edition of the biennial Seatrade Maritime Middle East (SMME) exhibition and conference, which takes place in Dubai from 31 October to 2 November 2016, at the Dubai World Trade Centre, is organising a conference dedicated to the dynamic and rapidly growing tanker sector.

Part of the Dubai Maritime Week, Seatrade Tanker Middle East, takes place on Tuesday 1 November and is being supported by the International Association of Independent Tanker Owners, INTERTANKO, with managing director Katharina Stanzel, moderating the event.

According to Clarkson Research, a leading provider of data and market intelligence for the global shipping and offshore oil and gas industries, tanker fleet capacity took two decades to double to its current size of 540 million deadweight tonnage (dwt), witnessing average volume growth of 2.2% per annum, in combined crude and products trade. However, the current surge in tanker fleet capacity, was generated during a long period of low oil prices and has recorded an increase of 6.5% since early 2015.

Chris Hayman, Chairman of Seatrade, said, “The tanker sector faced a tough time between 2009 and 2014, but it has now bounced back. Seaborne oil trade grew 4.7% in 2015, the fastest rate since 2009, but operators are still mindful of unpredictable market conditions, moving forward.”

OPEC's decision to allow the market to balance on its own without price support has perhaps been the biggest catalyst for increased tanker business. But add in the lifting of sanctions in Iran, an estimated global increase in oil refining of 7.7 million barrels per day until 2021 and the swinging supply and demand dynamics and it is easy to understand why this market is growing, albeit impulsively.

“While some tanker operators remain cautious about the future, many are riding high on the back of storage deals with big refineries – especially offshore Singapore and Malaysia - whereby tankers are used to balance supply and demand by removing tonnage from the market,” said Hayman.

Conference delegates will hear from a sterling line-up of industry players, including Ahmed Al Falahi, CEO, Gulf Energy Maritime; Phrixos Papachristidis, CEO & MD, Hellespont Ship Management; Ali Shehab Ahmad, Deputy Chief Executive, Kuwait Oil Tanker Company; Stavroula Betsakou, Head of Tanker Research, Howe Robinson Partners and Capt. The panellists will open the event discussing the fundamentals of the crude oil tanker market, looking at the pattern of supply growth, the factors influencing demand and what this may mean for earnings. Factors to be considered will include the impact of oil price movements and geo-politics on the pattern of trade and ton-mile demand, the size of the order book and the likely scale of new contracting, slow steaming with a strong emphasis on the Middle East region, and the outlook for its principal players.

The panel will then turn their attention to product tanker trading, analysing the factors influencing the shape of product tanker demand and those driving it, including refining, and the composition of the order book. The debate will also cover how these fundamentals affect rates across all vessel sizes, with a focus on how the market is shaping up in respect of Middle East interests.

The conference will also examine the implications of the digital revolution on the tanker industry. Panellists will address issues such as the impact that SMART shipping and BigData will have on operating cost efficiencies and the way in which ships are managed in the future.

Finally in a changing regulatory environment, the panel will also discuss how upcoming IMO regulations will affect the tanker sector, starting with the ballast water convention, which comes into force in September 2017 which will require the retro-fitting of new technology for the world tanker fleet.

قطاع نقل النفط البحري ينمو بنسبة 4.7٪ في عام 2015 على الرغم من انخفاض أسعار النفط

تنظم الدورة الثامنة من مؤتمر ومعرض سيتريد الشرق الأوسط للقطاع البحري في دبي، والتي تنعقد في مركز دبي التجاري العالمي خلال الفترة 31 أكتوبر - 2 نوفمبر عام 2016، مؤتمراً خاصاً لقطاع الناقلات البحرية الذي يشهد حالة من النمو الملحوظ، وذلك ضمن فعاليات أسبوع دبي البحري برعاية سمو الشيخ حمدان بن محمد بن راشد آل مكتوم، ولي عهد دبي.

وأضاف هايمان بالقول: "لا يزال العديد من مشغلي الناقلات حذرين بشأن المستقبل إلا أن بعضهم يعول على صفقات التخزين مع المصافي الكبيرة وخصوصاً في سنغافورة وماليزيا حيث يتم استخدام الناقلات لتحقيق التوازن بين العرض والطلب عن طريق نقل الحمولات بين الأسواق".

Intertek Partners with Brookfield Multiplex as Quality Consultant on Al Maryah Central in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi, UAE - Intertek, a Total Quality Assurance provider to industries worldwide, has announced it was appointed as enclosure quality consultant on Al Maryah Central in Abu Dhabi by Brookfield Multiplex, the project’s main contractor.

Due to open in 2018, Al Maryah Central is a retail-led mixed-use development owned and managed by Gulf Related, the joint venture partnership between Gulf Capital and Related Companies. Al Maryah Central, combined with The Galleria on Al Maryah Island – Abu Dhabi's luxury shopping and dining destination, will deliver a 2.8 million-square-feet super-regional mall in Abu Dhabi.

As part of its mandate, Intertek’s scope of work is to implement a quality assurance, testing, inspection, and consulting programme to assure the complex building performance requirements of the new mall, and compliance to the UAE Fire & Life Safety Code are fully met. This includes reviewing and approving the submittals of all façade elements such as glass and glazing, stone cladding, Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete Cladding (GFRC) and the different types of skylights to cover 9,000 square meters of glazing on the roof. The work also includes testing to ensure the stone types used meet the mineralogical, chemical, physical and mechanical properties required. Intertek is also providing full time factory quality control inspections for the coating systems of all the façade’s secondary steel structures.

Intertek has expanded its Building and Construction services to offer a full-suite of product-related testing and certification capabilities, project-related assurance, testing, inspection, and consulting services. Its global network of state of the art facilities and its highly trained scientists and engineers have developed a number of specifications, test methods, and certification programmes applied in the construction industry.

"إنترتك تتعاون مع "بروكفيلد ملتيبليكس" كاستشاري الجودة لمشروع الماريه سنترال في أبوظبي

أبوظبي، الإمارات العربية المتحدة – أعلنت "إنترتك"، الشركة المختصة بتوفير ضمان الجودة الكلية لمختلف القطاعات حول العالم، أنه قد تمّ تعيينها كاستشاري الجودة في مشروع "الماريه سنترال" في أبوظبي من قِبل "بروكفيلد ملتيبليكس" Brookfield Multiplex، المقاول الرئيسي للمشروع.

ويعتبر مشروع "الماريه سنترال" والذي يتوقع افتتاحه في عام 2018، مشروع تجزئة متنوع الاستخدام تمتلكه وتديره "جلف ريليتد"، وهي مشروع مشترك بين "جلف كابيتال" و"ريليتد كومبانيز". وسيوفّر مشروع "الماريه سنترال" مُجْتمِعاً مع مركز "ذا غاليريا" في جزيرة الماريه، وهي الوجهة الراقية للتسوق وللمطاعم الفاخرة في أبوظبي، مُجَمَّع تسوقٍ إقليمي ضخم على مساحة 2.8 مليون قدم مربع في أبوظبي.

وكجزء من المهمة الموكلة إليها، ستعمل "إنترتك" على تنفيذ برنامج لضمان الجودة والاختبار والتدقيق والاستشارات للتأكد من الإيفاء بالمتطلبات المعقدة في مجال أداء المبنى في مجمع التسوق الجديد والامتثال بدليل الإمارات للوقاية من الحريق وحماية الأرواح المطبقة في دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة. وهذا يشمل مراجعة كافة العناصر المقدمة لواجهة المبنى والموافقة عليها مثل الزجاج وصقل الزجاج وتكسية الحجر وتكسية الإسمنت المقوى بالألياف الزجاجية (Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete Cladding – GFRC) والأنواع المختلفة من النوافذ السقفية التي ستغطي 9,000 قدم مربع من الزجاج المصقول على سطح المبنى. وتشمل المهمة الموكلة إلى "إنترتك" إجراء الاختبارات لضمان توافق أنواع الحجر المستخدمة مع الخصائص المعدنية والكيماوية والفيزيائية والميكانيكية المطلوبة. وستقوم "إنترتك" أيضاَ بعمليات تفتيش وتدقيق في المصانع للتحكّم بجودة أنظمة الإكساء لكل واجهات المنشآت الفولاذية الثانوية.

صرّح مايكل لونا من قسم المباني والبناء في "إنترتك" لمنطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال إفريقيا وباكستان: "نحن سعداء جداً بفوزنا بهذا العقد وبالعمل مع ’بروكفيلد ملتيبليكس‘. وهدفنا هو التفوّق على توقعات عملائناطوال مراحل تنفيذنا لأعمالنا. وباستخدام بعض أبرز الخبراء الفنيين والمهندسين في القطاع، سنتأكد من التزام كل الأطراف بالجودة مع مراعاة التكلفة والالتزام أيضاً بالمعايير العالمية."

هذا وقد وسّعت "إنترتك خدماتها في مجال البناء والإنشاء لتقدم مجموعة كاملة من قدرات الاختبار والاعتماد للمنتجات وكذلك خدمات الضمان للمشاريع وخدمات الاختبار والتفتيش والخدمات الاستشارية. وقد طوّرت شبكتها الممتدة حول العالم، والمكوّنة من منشآت حديثة وعلماء ومهندسين يتمتعون بمهارات عالية، عدداً من المواصفات ووسائل الاختبار وبرامج الاعتماد المطبقة في قطاع الإنشاءات.
