Farnek empowered by leading UK electrical accreditation

Total FM company first solely-based UAE company in sector to be accredited by UK electrical authority NICEIC; Firm approved after successful audit of health and safety standards and quality thresholds

Dubai, UAE: Leading total facilities management company, Farnek, has become the first solely-based UAE home maintenance and commercial facilities management company to be awarded accreditation by the UK’s National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting (NICEIC).

NICEIC, the UK’s leading voluntary authority for electricians, has awarded Farnek ‘Approved Contractor’ status in recognition of the technical ability of the company’s highly competent workforce of the technical ability of the company’s highly competent workforce of technicians, stringent health and safety procedures, extensive risk assessment undertakings and various training programs

“International best practice is a major priority for all of the work we undertake. Through ongoing employee training schemes, we are able to ensure our workforce not only meets these high standards but has the know-how to exceed them,” said Markus Oberlin, CEO, Farnek.

“NICEIC accreditation embodies our commitment to provide high quality services and gives our customers and clients the confidence to know that electrical work is carried out to the highest technical standards by a reputable and reliable company,” he added.

Owned by Certsure LLP, NICEIC provides certification to a number of firms from a broad range of sectors by providing training, technical advice, certification and information on the latest industry trends.

“NICEIC has been assessing the electrical competence of electricians in the UK for nearly sixty years and currently maintains more than 26,000 registered contractors. We are delighted to work with Farnek in Dubai, to promote safety and electrical inspection on many levels and bring these high standards, through cooperation, to a range of private companies and government entities in the UAE and the Middle East,” said Emma Clancy, CEO of Certsure.

Farnek underwent a rigorous assessment process conducted by a UK-based NICEIC qualified engineer, who evaluated several examples of electrical work completed by Farnek. He also checked that all documentation was accurate, up-to-date and filed appropriately, all equipment was maintained and of a high standard and that all supervisory staff were trained and have the relevant qualifications and experience.   

“In order to ensure ongoing high-levels of service, we regularly re-assess thousands of contractors to guarantee standards remain at the levels customers of NICEIC contractors have come to expect,” added Clancy.  

Adding to Farnek’s expanding award cabinet, the NICEIC accolade follows hard on the heels of accreditations from another UK-based authority, The British Institute of Cleaning Services (BICSc). Farnek now has eight members of staff with this sought after cleaning certification, in recognition of providing the most advanced, comprehensive and stringent set of standards within the cleaning industry.

Farnek ensures a systematic and measurable approach to excellence being a member of the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) and adopting their excellence fundamentals. Farnek also complies with the standards set out in ISO 9001, OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001, required for Integrated Management Systems (IMS).

IHC Represents the UAE at the UN World Humanitarian Summit in Istanbul, Turkey

How sustainable are covering solutions?

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 24 May 2016 - Over the last decade the introduction of green building regulations and rising consumer awareness are continuing to place increased pressure on the people who create the built environment to ensure that it is fit for purpose.

Add to this the cost of utilities and a clearly stated desire in the UAE to manage energy and water consumption from the demand side too, and you have an environment where sustainable design is set to thrive.

“We could look back to the roots of some past Middle-Eastern architecture, traditional design aesthetics and the practicalities of past design measures used in buildings hundreds of years ago, having evolved for the Middle East’s hot, harsh and dry climate,” says Scott Coombes, director and managing partner at consultancy AESG and chair of The Designers’ Forum day one programme at the Middle East Stone and Middle East Covering shows which are running at the Dubai World Trade Centre from 23 – 26 May 2016.

The Designers’ Forum will cover how traditional design techniques and the region’s architectural heritage can be reintegrated into modern architecture and design processes to enhance their sustainability.

Selecting the right coverings can have a key role to play in this process as manufacturing techniques find new ways to make them both more sustainable and more energy efficient.

“As societies and governments become more environmentally aware, they are starting to demand products and solutions that are more energy efficient and reduce the carbon footprint,” says Syed Abdullah Hassan, Regional Marketing Manager for Kansai Paints, which is sponsoring The Designers’ Forum.

“Sustainable covering solutions are becoming more and more important. Governments across the region are now moving away from dependency on fossil fuel, but there is equal emphasis on managing building energy footprints more effectively. Aside from new legislation and updated building codes, the use of more resource efficient and more durable materials is also being promoted.”

Hassan highlights the work of the Emirates Green Building Council for its active pursuit of a broad-based objective to reduce energy consumption by 30 per cent, in line with the UAE 2021 Vision.

“This means that newly constructed buildings aiming to achieve Nearly Zero Energy Building (nZEB) classification are being designed with sustainable covering solutions in mind, and specifiers are now recommending more efficient products to go in line with this direction,” he says.

Hassan believes that increasing awareness among the construction community about the benefits of sustainable technologies will continue to play an important part in promoting their use.

“It’s also essential that governments continue to update regulations and building codes with consistent regularity, but also provide incentives for developers to move towards sustainable solutions,” he says.

“As a coatings company, we believe the key to achieving energy efficiency and fast transformation is to provide products that are easy to apply and accessible to society at large, from the local household to the largest of construction companies.”

Important advances have been made in promoting sustainable design and construction practices in the region. What more can be done will be part of the discussions at The Designers’ Forum, to be held during the Middle East Covering and the Middle East Stone Shows.

ASICS opens Dubai subsidiary to expand the brand in the GCC-region

ASICS has today announced that they will open a subsidiary in Dubai, the first fully owned sales and marketing organisation of the true sport performance brand in the Middle East.

ASICS Middle East LLC will launch as part of the brand’s strategy to further expand its footprint in emerging markets whilst reinforcing its premium positioning. ASICS also plan to strongly increase marketing investment in the region as well as developing direct relationships with key retailers.

The Middle East subsidiary will replace current distributor Falaknaz, which has successfully represented the ASICS brand in the Gulf-region since 2003.

ASICS will be based in Dubai and will be setting up efficient logistic operations to allow for fast deliveries to retailers in the region. The operation will be led by General Manager Cengiz Kiray, bringing with him a wealth of sports industry experience.

Kiray and his team aim to optimize existing partnerships with retailers in the region, as well as developing new direct relationships with key accounts. ASICS Middle East LLC will build on the brand’s positioning and growth in the region to date.

ASICS Middle East LLC will start selling for the spring-summer 2017 collection as of May, which will hit shelves in the region in December 2016.

The brand is confident the new organizational structure will deliver accelerated growth in the Middle East region, replicating its success in Europe. اسيكس تفتتح شركة فرعية لها في دبي

24 مايو 2016 - أعلنت شركة اسيكس، أول مؤسسة خاصة لبيع وتسويق العلامات التجارية للأداء الرياضي الحقيقي في الشرق الأوسط، اليوم عن افتتاحها شركة فرعية لها في دبي، وذلك تماشيا ًمع إستراتيجيتها لتوسيع نطاق انتشاره علامتها التجارية في الأسواق الناشئة وتعزيز وضعها المرموق في السوق. كما تخطط الشركة أيضا لزيادة استثماراتها التسويقية في المنطقة وتعزيز العلاقات المباشرة مع تجار التجزئة الأساسيين. ومن المقرر أن يحل الفرع في الشرق الأوسط مكان الموزع الحالي فلكناز، والذي يقوم بتمثيل علامة اسيكس التجارية بنجاح في منطقة الخليج منذ عام 2003.  

وسيتولى سينجيز كيراي، مدير عام الشركة مسؤولية إدارة عمليتها التشغيلية نظراً لما يمتلك من خبرة واسعة في المجال الرياضي. وسيشرف كيراي أيضاً على العمليات اللوجستية للشركة بما سيوفر السرعة اللازمة لعمليات التسليم وإدارة العلاقات مع تجار التجزئة في المنطقة. وسيسعى كيراي وفريقه إلى تحسين الشراكات القائمة مع تجار التجزئة في المنطقة، فضلا عن بناء وتطوير علاقات مباشرة جديدة.

هذا ومن المقرر أن تبدأ اسيكس الشرق الأوسط ذ.م.م بيع مجموعة ربيع وصيف 2017 اعتبارا من مايو، والتي سيتم إتاحتها في المنطقة في ديسمبر 2016.

وعلاوة على ذلك، سيحقق الهيكل التنظيمي الجديد نموا متسارعا في منطقة الشرق الأوسط، على غرار نجاحها في أوروبا، حيث تعد اسيكس حاليا أكبر ثالث علامة تجارية رياضية للأحذية في أوروبا وشركة رائدة في السوق في مجال الأحذية الرياضية المخصصة للركض ولكرة المضرب. وقد حقق النمو المكوّن من ثلاث أرقام للعلامة التجارية "اسيكس تايجر"، أيضا نجاحا باهراً في قطاع الموضة الرياضية.

وتعليقاً على الموضوع، صرح اليستير كاميرون، الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة اسيكس أوروبا والشرق الأوسط قائلا: "سيتيح لنا إفتتاح الفرع الجديد التابع لشركة اسيكس في دبي إمكانية الإرتقاء بالعلامة التجارية "اسيكس" إلى المستوى التالي في منطقة الشرق الأوسط، مع ضمان الحفاظ على مستويات رفيعة من الخدمة المقدّمة للعملاء والمستهلكين في المنطقة. ونود أن نشكر فلكناز على دعمهم الكامل وعملهم الدؤوب وخبرتهم الواسعة التي قدموها لنا حتى الآن. ونتطلع قدما لتكرار النجاح الذي حققناه في أوروبا، إذ تضاعفت ضعف أعمالنا في السنوات الخمس الماضية وقمنا بزيادة الوعي حول علامتنا التجارية في منطقة الشرق الأوسط وبنينا علاقات متينة مع شركاء التجزئة الرئيسيين".
