Two-Week 'Arabic Festival' Opens at Park Regis Kris Kin Hotel Dubai

Showcasing local art, culture and cuisine, a two-week Arabic Festival opened today at the Park Regis Kris Kin Hotel Dubai. The opening ceremony was held at the magnificent Kris restaurant that is the hotel's signature pan-Asian dining outlet. Located on the 19th floor Kris offers panoramic views of the Dubai skyline with a fabulous selection of Asian and Oriental dishes including a wide choice of Arabic delights. A highlight of the inaugural reception was a beautiful art exhibition put together by local artists that was paired with delicious Arabic delicacies and superb live entertainment.     

The Arabic Festival serves as a prelude to the activities lined up at Park Regis for the Holy Month of Ramadan. Commenting on the initiative, Scott Butcher, General Manager, Park Regis Kris Kin Hotel Dubai, said, "The Arabic Festival has been organised to give visitors and residents an opportunity to discover and experience the various facets of local heritage and culture including the region's rich cuisine. BMCE Bank of Africa closes registration for the 2016 African Entrepreneurship Award and prepares to announce the candidates for its second round

8800 entrepreneurs from 105 countries registered with 3900 business ideas

CASABLANCA, Morocco, May 17, 2016/ -- The Group BMCE Bank of Africa announces the closing of Round 1 of the second edition of the African Entrepreneurship Award (https://AfricanEntrepreneurshipAward.com). The AEA is dedicated to inspire talented African entrepreneurs, or originating from Africa, by funding businesses using technologies that transcend borders to create jobs and improve lives. Round 1 opened in mid-February and closed May 6th 2016, attracting about 8800 entrepreneurs from 105 countries submitting 3900 business ideas, that is an increase of +33% in applications volume compared to the Award’s first edition in 2015. From now until May 31st, 130 Regional African mentors are mentoring each business idea to decide who continues to Round 2 “Most Likely to Succeed Across Africa” in each category: Education, Environment and Uncharted Domains. Entrepreneurs from all 54 African countries plus 51 countries in the diaspora competed in Round 1 for “Most Needed In My Region”. Round 1 winners will be announced on May 31st for the opening of Round 2, lasting from May 31st to July 31st 2016. الحمرا للتطوير العقاري تعلن بدء تسليم المرحلة الأولى لمشروع "بيتي" في رأس الخيمة

أعلنت شركة الحمرا للتطوير العقاري، التي تعد أكبر مطور عقاري في إمارة رأس الخيمة، عن بدء تسليم مجموعة من الوحدات السكنية ضمن المرحلة الأولى لمشروع بيتي السكني للمنازل الفاخرة عن والتي تضم 118 منزلاً. وتطل كافة الوحدات السكنية في هذا المشروع على ثلاثة متنزهات ترفيهية وبرك سباحة، بالإضافة إلى ملعب عالمي للجولف وشاطئ خاص بطول 1.5 كيلو متر وعلى مقربة من المرسى الذي يتسع لـ 200 قارب.

UAE and EU trade with Iran could be worth $59 billion by 2018 - regional maritime sector key to unlocking potential

Iran’s imminent re-entry to global trade to headline discussions at Seatrade Maritime Middle East 2016 exhibition and conference; easing of sanctions could see $8 billion EU trade quadruple by 2018 and thaw US$30 billion of Iran’s frozen overseas assets

The opportunities faced by the Middle East maritime industry ahead of the further lifting of economic sanctions on Iran, will be the subject of both exhibition floor and conference debate at this year’s Seatrade Maritime Middle East (SMME) industry event, which takes place in Dubai from 31 October to 02 November 2016.

One of the largest economies in the region, with an estimated nominal GDP of US$ 397 billion in 2015, EU trade with Iran currently stands at around $8 billion, and is expected to quadruple in the next two years according to data from a Q1 2016 Seatrade-commissioned report prepared by global legal practice Stephenson Harwood.

“With the majority of US secondary sanctions and EU sanctions already removed, this is a milestone moment in the growth of our industry, opening up a wealth of trading opportunities as well as investment opportunities to support Iran’s maritime sector, particularly infrastructure development,” said Andrew Williams, General Manager, Seatrade.  

The UAE is Iran’s largest non-oil trading partner and is also Iran’s largest source of imported goods worth around $27.3 billion, in fact the UAE accounted for 96.7% of GCC exports to Iran in 2013. As far as GCC imports from Iran go, the UAE accounts for more than 62% with Oman taking 26%.

“Increased trade obviously means more shipping, extra vessels will require improved port facilities and even the offshore projects will require workboats, so this has the potential to be a defining period for the region’s maritime industry,” added James Willn, Senior Associate, Stephenson Harwood Middle East.

The financial benefits to the Iranian economy are significant too. By lifting energy sanctions it potentially increases Iran’s oil exports revenue to $10 billion by 2017, boosts its GDP growth from zero to 5%, and allows up to $30 billion of foreign reserves, which are currently frozen, to be brought back into the country. Indeed, Indian oil refiners alone owe Iran more than $6.5 billion.

Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, UAE, and part of Dubai Maritime Week, the biannual three-day exhibition and conference returns to the Dubai International Conference & Exhibition Centre to welcome the region’s largest gathering of shipping and maritime industry decision makers.

Attracting nearly 8000 attendees from across 69 businesses, the event is a dedicated platform at which to do business with owners, operators, managers, charterers, superintendents, senior management and other professionals involved in the procurements of equipment and services within the maritime, offshore, oil & gas and ports industries.

Iran’s active pipeline of infrastructure and oil & gas projects will also be tabled for discussion at SMME, including on and offshore oil and gas field developments such as the long delayed Middle East to India Deepwater pipeline, Arvand Oilfield, Changuleh Oil Field Development and Darkhovin Oilfield development; the proposed Iran-Pakistan-India gas pipeline; various petrochem and refining projects like the Lorestan Petrochemical Complex and Mahabad Petrochemical Complex; and its new gas projects covering LNG, LPG, GTL, gas treatment, storage and compressor stations.

“A trillion dollars of investment in infrastructure is required over the next decade, and with plans to increase oil output to two billion barrels per year this year, development of its existing maritime sector and international industry relations to drive FDI will be pivotal in re-energising long-stalled trade movement to achieve its ambitious growth goals,” added Willn.

This year’s Seatrade Middle East Maritime will be its eighth edition and is now firmly established as the largest event of its kind in the regional calendar. For the first time this year, SMME will also welcome partners from the International Ship Suppliers and Services Association (ISSA) and Institute of Marine Engineering, Science & Technology (IMarEST) UAE branch, who will hold their own chapter gatherings and events under the umbrella of the 2016 Seatrade programme.

ويجذب هذا الحدث ما يقرب من 8000 مشاركاً من 69 شركة، ويوفر منصة متخصصة لتعزيز الأعمال مع المالكين والمشغلين والمدراء والمهنيين العاملين في مجال المشتريات والمعدات والخدمات في قطاعات الشحن البحري والنفط والغاز والموانئ.

ويناقش هذا الحدث مجموعة من المواضيع والمحاور المتعلقة بواقع ومستقبل قطاع النقل البحري في منطقة الشرق الأوسط، وخاصة مع رفع المزيد من العقوبات الدولية الاقتصادية المفروضة على إيران، والتي تعد واحدة من أكبر الاقتصادات في المنطقة ويُقدر ناتجها المحلي الإجمالي في عام 2015 بنحو 397 مليار دولار أمريكي. ويبلغ حجم التبادل التجاري بين الاتحاد الأوروبي وإيران حالياً حوالي 8 مليارات دولار أمريكي، ومن المتوقع أن يتضاعف بمقدار 4 أضعاف مرات العامين المقبلين وفقاً لتقرير أعدته شركة ستيفنسون هاروود العالمية في عام 2016.

وبهذا السياق قال أندرو وليامز مدير عام "سيتريد": "ستشهد منطقة الشرق الأوسط فترة نمو ملحوظة بعد رفع عقوبات الولايات المتحدة والاتحاد الأوروبي على إيران، وهذا ما يتيح المجال للاستفادة من الكثير من فرص التبادل التجاري والاستثمار وتطوير البنية التحتية في مجال القطاع البحري في إيران والمنطقة بأكملها".

وتعد دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة أكبر شريك تجاري غير نفطي لإيران، كما أنها أكبر مصدر لإيران من السلع المستوردة التي تبلغ قيمتها نحو 27.3 مليار دولار. وبلغت حصة دولة الإمارات 96.7٪ من إجمالي صادرات دول مجلس التعاون الخليجي إلى إيران في عام 2013. وتبلغ حصة دولة الإمارات من إجمالي واردات دول مجلس التعاون الخليجي من إيران نحو 62٪، فيما تبلغ حصة سلطنة عُمان منها حوالي 26٪.

وقال جيمس ويلن من شركة ستيفنسون هاروود الشرق الأوسط: "تساهم زيادة التبادل التجاري في زيادة نمو قطاع الشحن، وهذا ما يحتاج مزيداً من تطوير البنية التحتية للموانئ ولهذا ستكون الفترة القادمة حاسمة وحيوية بالنسبة لقطاع النقل البحري في المنطقة".

وأضاف ويلن: "يجب استثمار نحو 1 تريليون دولار في تطوير البنية التحتية خلال العقد المقبل، ومع الخطط الحالية لزيادة إنتاج النفط الى ملياري برميل سنوياً هذا العام، فإن تطوير القطاع البحري وتعزيز حجم الاستثمار الأجنبي المباشر سيكون أمراً محورياً في تنشيط الحركة التجارية المتوقفة منذ فترة طويلة لتحقيق أهداف النمو الطموحة".

وسيشهد الاقتصاد الإيراني تطوراً ملحوظاً بعد العقوبات الدولية، ومن المتوقع أن ترتفع إيرادات صادرات النفط الإيرانية إلى 10 مليارات دولار أمريكي بحلول العام 2017، لتعزز بذلك معدل نمو الناتج المحلي الإجمالي في الفترة من صفر إلى 5٪، وهذا ما يوفر نحو 30 مليار دولار أمريكي من احتياطيات النقد الأجنبي والتي تم تجميدها خلال السنوات الماضية بسبب العقوبات الدولية. وعلى سبيل المثال، فإن مصافي النفط الهندية وحدها مدينة لإيران بأكثر من 6.5 مليارات دولار أمريكي.

كما سيتم خلال معرض ومؤتمر سيتريد الشرق الأوسط للقطاع البحري، مناقشة مشاريع تطوير البنية التحتية والنفط والغاز في إيران، ومشروع خط الأنابيب تحت المياه بين منطقة الشرق الأوسط والهند، بالإضافة إلى مشروع خط أنابيب الغاز بين إيران وباكستان والهند، ومشاريع حقول النفط، والعديد من مشاريع البتروكيماويات والتكرير مثل مجمع لورستان للبتروكيماويات ومجمع مهاباد للبتروكيماويات، فضلاً عن مشاريع قطاع الغاز التي تشمل الغاز الطبيعي المسال، وغاز البترول المسال، وتحويل الغاز إلى سوائل، ومعالجة الغاز والتخزين ومحطات الضغط.

وتشهد دورة هذا العام مشاركة مجموعة من الشركاء الجدد بما في ذلك جمعية مزودي السفن والخدمات الدولية (ISSA)، ومعهد الهندسة البحرية والعلوم والتكنولوجيا (IMarEST) في دولة الإمارات، والتي ستقوم بتنظيم مجموعة من الفعاليات والاجتماعات تحت مظلة فعاليات معرض ومؤتمر سيتريد الشرق الأوسط للقطاع البحري 2016.
