FGB AND NCB FINANCE ETIHAD AIRWAYS’ BOEING 787-9 DREAMLINER AIRCRAFT

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the UAE, has selected Abu Dhabi-based FGB and The National Commercial Bank (NCB) of Saudi Arabia to provide financing for the purchase of a number of its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, the first of which was on show today at Abu Dhabi International Airport.  

The financing from FGB and NCB is provided through Sharia-compliant facilities following a request for proposal issued in May this year, which saw high levels of interest from global banks and leasing companies.  

FGB and NCB won the mandate for the financing based on very competitive pricing and terms against stiff international competition. Etihad Airways currently has 109 aircraft in its fleet and a further 97 Boeing aircraft on order, including 71 B787s.

The Boeing 787-9 will enter into service next year to operate flights between Abu Dhabi and Düsseldorf and between Abu Dhabi and Doha. The Boeing 787-9 will be introduced on six of the airline’s routes from February to June 2015, including Washington D.C., Mumbai, Brisbane and Moscow. 

ABU DHABI COMMERCIAL BANK PROVIDES FINANCING FOR ETIHAD AIRWAYS’ FIRST AIRBUS A380-800

Etihad Airways, the UAE’s national carrier, has received financing from Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) for its first Airbus A380-800 aircraft, which was showcased to the public for the first time today at Abu Dhabi International Airport.

ADCB is providing financing for one A380-800 aircraft following a competitive global request for proposal.  The A380 is the first of a fleet of ten A380s on order from Etihad Airways to enter service.

Earlier this year, Etihad Airways delivered a series of comprehensive training seminars to UAE banks to share and promote local, specialist knowledge of aircraft financing.

The Residence by Etihad™, exclusively available on the A380, can accommodate single or double occupancy and features a living room, separate bedroom with a double bed, and ensuite shower room. Guests in The Residence will also have a personal Butler.  It will commence operations from Abu Dhabi to London Heathrow from 27 December 2014.

Successful Fire Mock Drill at Abu Dhabi Residency and Foreigners Affairs

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates – Dec.18, 2014  [ME NewsWire]

The Directorate General of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Abu Dhabi carried out a successful mock drill to extinguish a ‘fire’ that broke out at the directorate’s main building.  The drill was conducted in collaboration with the General Directorate of Civil Defense; during which rescue teams evacuated staff members from the building and managed to extinguish the fire in record time.

As per the scenario, the Abu Dhabi Police’s Operations Room received a tip-off at 9:30 a.m. on the outbreak of the ‘fire’.  As soon as the fire alarm sounded, safety officials evacuated the building and escorted employees and workers to the muster points pending the arrival of Civil Defense and rescue teams. The evacuation plan was conducted according to the scenario after notifying the relevant police authorities, Civil Defense and backup entities, which dealt professionally and efficiently with the fire, and provided the injured with the necessary medical care. The drill was concluded at around 10:00 am; staff members returned to their offices and resumed their normal tasks of providing services to customers.

Colonel Salim Ali Al Qattam Al Zaabi, Director General of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Abu Dhabi, noted that the drill is designed to assess readiness of relevant entities in dealing with such emergencies. These measures would boost safety and security and improve preparedness in providing the optimal safety requirements, in pursuance of the Ministry of Interior’s strategy, notably protecting lives and property and ensuring the safety of both staff members and customers.

Canon adds new flagship projector to its leading installation range

Cairo, Egypt, 21 December, 2014 – Canon Middle East, a leader in imaging solutions, today announces the launch of a new flagship install projector – the Canon XEED WUX6000 – offering advanced image quality, connectivity, durability and installation capabilities. The XEED WUX6000 also provides enhanced energy-saving, producing bright and high resolution images while limiting power consumption to just 0.076W per lumen.

Canon has enhanced the image quality, installation capability and connectivity of the XEED WUX6000 by adopting a newly developed image engine and AISYS4.1 (Aspectual Illumination System) optical system. The addition of new LCOS panels also improves the appearance of projected images by offering increased luminance and reflectivity while improving energy savings.

The new LCOS panel has excellent burn-in resistance which makes it possible for the XEED WUX6000 to achieve continuous projection for up to 100 hours of the same image without the pattern of the image being burnt in to the panel, compared to a regular LCD panel which can suffer this issue after just two to three hours. This is particularly beneficial for exhibition-style installations, where customers would seek to display projections for seven hours or more per day.

The XEED WUX6000 is compatible with five different projection lenses – a short fixed lens, wide zoom lens, standard zoom lens, long zoom lens and an ultra-long zoom lens.  All five lenses use the same connector as the XEED WUX 4000 and WUX5000, making them cross-compatible with existing devices, offering system integrators and customers enhanced flexibility during installation.

Images of up to 600 inches / 1,524 cm can be projected with a 16:10 Aspect Ratio from just 13m away using the wide angle zoom lens RSIL05WF. A motorised lens shift function allows users to adjust the position of projected images in all directions using a remote control. In addition, the XEED WUX6000 has an in-built image corrector with an edge blending function, helping achieve precise image superimposing. The projector can also be mounted in a wide variety of angles, enabling customers to realise a variety of video productions at any angle, from floor to ceiling.
