Abu Dhabi, UAE – 2nd July 2024: The Technology Innovation Institute (TII), a leading global scientific research center and the applied research pillar of the Abu Dhabi’s Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC), will be hosting the world’s leading researchers and quantum technology professionals at the TII Quantum Technology Symposium.

Agility 2023 Sustainability Report Shows Improved Sustainability Performance

Green warehouses, net-zero commitments, enhanced diversity, and digital skill building in the community highlight company’s environmental, social progress

KUWAIT – July 1, 2024 – Agility,  a supply chain services, infrastructure and innovation company, released its 2023 Sustainability Report, showing the company has made significant progress in environmental and social responsibility.

Agility’s latest sustainability report highlights the company's robust efforts in environmental stewardship, strategic infrastructure development, and commitment to diversity and inclusion. 

Environment 

The report outlines commitments by two of Agility’s largest businesses – Menzies Aviation and Tristar – to achieve net-zero emissions. Menzies and Tristar accounted for roughly 74% of Agility’s 2023 revenue. Menzies, which provides in-plane fueling and other ground services for commercial aviation, is playing a key role in aviation industry decarbonization. It is helping to advance lower-carbon aviation by submitting its first net-zero targets to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), and aims to convert 25% of its motorized ground support equipment (GSE) to electric power by 2025. 

Fuel logistics provider Tristar, meanwhile, has expanded its investment in solar energy at its Dubai headquarters, boosting its capacity to nearly 1mWh and eliminating emissions of approximately 650 tons of CO2 annually. Tristar has commissioned the first hybrid bunker barge in the UAE. 

Agility Logistics Parks demonstrated its commitment to energy efficiency, conservation and waste management in the Middle East and Africa by developing the GCC’s first “zero-carbon ready” warehouse in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and West Africa’s first zero-carbon ready warehouse in Abidjan, Cote D’Ivoire. Both facilities received EDGE Advanced “green building” certification.

People 

At the Group level, Agility is making strides in promoting gender diversity. Women represent 16.7% of the company’s Board of Directors and 25.1% of its workforce, significant in traditionally male-dominated industries. Menzies, Agility’s largest business by headcount, has a workforce that is 29% female and aims to have 25% of senior leadership roles held by women by 2025, in line with the 25by2025 targets of the International Air Transport Association (IATA). 

Agility businesses remain deeply committed to health, safety and fair labor standards. Ninety-five percent of the company’s eligible employees have completed human rights training; and 90% took part in health and safety training over the past three years. Tristar’s health and safety performance was recognized with two gold medals at the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents Awards. In 2023, Menzies serviced more than 1.3 million aircraft turns, over 217 million airline passengers, and moved 2 million tonnes of cargo – all while outperforming the industry average for operational safety performance, and with an aircraft damage rate 15 times lower than the industry average.  

Supply Chain Sustainability

Agility has implemented new supplier sustainability requirements that cover two-thirds of its spending on goods, services, and materials for Agility parent company and subsidiaries Agility Logistics Parks, Global Clearinghouse Systems, Metal Recycling Company, and Shipa. All new suppliers for Menzies and Tristar are screened for sustainability criteria. Starting in 2024, all new contracts must adhere to stricter sustainability standards, ensuring a greener and more responsible supply chain. 

Community

Agility's community investments reached over 185,500 people in 2023. They focused largely on education, training, and support for women and young people. Agility-backed programs provided digital skills and job training to more than 93,000 women and girls. In addition, the company continues to support humanitarian aid and refugee assistance, providing critical resources and support in regions affected by crises.

Cumins is the first CEO in the company’s 40-year history who is not a Bentley family member, marking a significant milestone in the company’s development. bp joins forces with Masdar, Hassan Allam Utilities and Infinity Power to explore green hydrogen development in Egypt

Newly Established Consortium Signs Framework Agreement with Egyptian Government

bp has entered into a Joint Development Agreement (JDA) to join the existing consortium comprising of Masdar, Hassan Allam Utilities and Infinity Power to explore the potential development of a multi-phase green hydrogen (gH2) project in Egypt. 

Under the JDA, bp will act as the main developer and operator of the project on behalf of the consortium. The partners are combining their respective gH2 projects in Egypt and will also explore the potential for a single large-scale, multi-phase project for the development of gH2 and its derivatives, with a focus on exports.

The newly formed consortium has signed a Framework Agreement (FWA) with the Egyptian government to start carrying out a set of studies and activities to evaluate the technical and commercial feasibility of the project.

The FWA agreement was signed on the sidelines of the Egypt-EU Investment Conference by Nader Zaki, bp’s Regional President, Middle East and North Africa; Karim Hefzy, Chief Operating Officer of Hassan Allam Utilities; Andreas Bieringer, Director, Green Hydrogen Business Development and Commercial, Masdar and Mohamed Ismail Mansour, Chairman of Infinity Power, and witnessed by H.E. Dr. Moustafa Madbouly, Prime Minister of Egypt, Dr. Mohamed Shaker, the Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, and Dr. Hala El-Said, the Minister of Planning and Economic Development.

"We are pleased that the signing coincides with our celebration of 60 years in Egypt, which clearly reflects our ongoing commitment to the country. Over the decades, we have been a key supplier of energy in Egypt, consistently working to meet its increasing energy demands while supporting its endeavors for a more sustainable energy future. بي بي تتحالف مع مصدر، حسن علام للمرافق، وإنفينيتي باور لبحث سبل تنمية الهيدروجين الأخضر في مصر

التحالف الجديد يوقع اتفاق إطاري مع الحكومة المصرية

القاهرة، مصر، 1 يوليو 2024: انضمت شركة بي بي لتحالف شركات مصدر، حسن علام للمرافق، وانفينيتي باور لبحث سبل تنمية مشاريع الهيدروجين الأخضر في مصر، وذلك عبر انضمامها لقائمة الموقعين على اتفاقية التنمية المشتركة بين أطراف التحالف. 

ستقوم بي بي بموجب هذه الاتفاقية بدور المطور والمشغل الرئيسي للمشروع نيابةً عن التحالف، حيث سيعمل الشركاء على دمج مشروعات الهيدروجين الأخضر الخاصة بهم في مصر في مشروع واحد واسع النطاق ومتعدد المراحل لتنمية الهيدروجين الأخضر ومشتقاته، مع التركيز على الصادرات.

 وقَع التحالف اتفاق إطاري مع الحكومة المصرية للبدء في تنفيذ مجموعة من الدراسات والأنشطة لتقييم الجدوى الفنية والمالية للمشروع. 

وجاء توقيع الإتفاقية على هامش مؤتمر مصر-الإتحاد الأوروبي للإستثمار، وشهد التوقيع الدكتور مصطفى مدبولي، رئيس مجلس الوزراء، والدكتور محمد شاكر، وزير الكهرباء والطاقة المتجددة، والدكتورة هالة السعيد، وزيرة التخطيط والتنمية الاقتصادية.، 

كما قام بالتوقيع من جانب الشركات كلاً من  نادر زكى الرئيس الإقليمي للشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا لشركة بي بي، وأندرياس بيرينجر مدير تطوير الأعمال التجارية للهيدروجين الأخضر في مصدر، وكريم حفظي  الرئيس التنفيذي للعمليات لشركة حسن علام للمرافق، ومحمد منصور رئيس مجلس إدارة إنفينيتي باور. 

وصرح نادر زكي، الرئيس الإقليمي لبي بي في الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا: "يسعدنا أن يتزامن التوقيع على تلك الاتفاقية مع احتفالنا بمرور 60 عاماً على وجودنا في مصر مما يعكس بوضوح التزامنا المستمر نحو التوسع في أنشطتنا داخل البلاد."

من جهته، قال محمد عبد القادر الرمحي، الرئيس التنفيذي لإدارة الهيدروجين الأخضر في "مصدر": "نرحب بانضمام "بي بي" إلى التحالف ونتطلع الى مواصلة تعزيز علاقتنا الوطيدة مع الشركاء، وذلك في إطار مساعي "مصدر" للمساهمة بدور فاعل في تطوير قطاع الهيدروجين الأخضر العالمي. وتأتي هذه الاتفاقية لتضاف إلى خطط "مصدر" لتطوير مشاريع للهيدروجين الأخضر في جمهورية مصر العربية الشقيقة، وترسيخ التزام الشركة ودولة الإمارات بدعم مساعي مصر للاستفادة من إمكاناتها الضخمة في مجال الطاقة النظيفة والهيدروجين الأخضر وذلك بالتعاون مع "انفنيتي باور" الرائدة في مجال الطاقة المتجددة على مستوى القارة الأفريقية".

تمتلك بي بي حصة قدرها 33٪ في الشركة المتحدة لمشتقات الغاز وهي مصنع للغاز الطبيعي المسال، حيث تستخرج غاز البترول المسال والبروبان بالشراكة مع إيني/إيوك وجاسكو (الشركة المصرية الرئيسية لتوزيع الغاز).

كما أن لبي بي حصة تبلغ 40٪ في شركة الغاز الطبيعي للسيارات – كارجاس التي تأسست في1995، لتصبح أول شركة في إفريقيا والشرق الأوسط لتسويق الغاز الطبيعي كوقود بديل للمركبات.
