HIMSS Analytics created the EMRAM methodology to evaluate the progress and impact of electronic medical record systems for hospitals. The validation measures clinical outcomes, patient engagement and the clinicians’ use of the EMR technology to strengthen organizational performance and health outcomes.

By being validated at Stage 6, DHAMAN is clearly demonstrating its ongoing commitment to improving patient safety and the overall quality of clinical care through the effective use and deployment of Electronic Medical Record technology.

  • The creation of a health academy as a response to the challenge of nursing resources during the pandemic

Saudi Arabia Invests More than US$ 36 Billion on Healthcare in 2022

Expanding Digital Healthcare Innovation a Key Priority, Says KSA Ministry of Health;

Global Health Tech Company, Proximie, Brings Virtually Connected Operating Rooms to Kingdom, Speeding Physician Knowledge Transfer, Surgical Safety, and Healthcare System Cost Reduction

Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, 19th December 2022: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will spend more than US$ 36 billion on healthcare in 2022, with the expansion of digital healthcare innovation a key priority, according to the country’s ministry of health.

To support the Kingdom’s ongoing investment, Proximie, a global health tech company, is currently working with physicians and healthcare networks across the Gulf’s largest economy, sharing its vision for the future of healthcare.

London-headquartered Proximie provides a software platform that allows physicians to virtually “scrub in” to any operating room from anywhere, effectively enabling the world’s very best surgeons to be present in real time for complex surgeries in clinics and hospitals across the Kingdom, meaning that the tens of thousands of patients who undergo surgery each year in the country could benefit from international treatment best practices delivered via virtual operating room technology.

Proximie solutions, say doctors, save patients lives and hospital networks money, but they also enable physicians working inside the country to exchange best clinical practices with new surgical environments faster and easier than ever before. In fact, physicians treating patients in remote areas of the Kingdom can now be guided by leading specialists from excellence centers and hospitals. Thanks to Proximie solution’s ability to technologically link them with collaborating physicians based in other parts of the country, or even the world.

“Saudi Arabia’s healthcare goals under Saudi Vision 2030 – in particular, its Health Sector Transformation Programme launched this year – are truly impressive and serve as a strategic roadmap for all developing nations, and especially those with rapidly growing populations,” said Proximie Founder and CEO, Dr. Nadine Hachach-Haram.

“As a practising surgeon, I know how critical digital healthcare innovation can be to delivering on the promise of extended and improved care across a growing country like Saudi Arabia. By working hand-in-hand with the Kingdom’s best surgeons, Proximie is already being used by leading entities such as the Ministry of Health and SEHA Virtual Hospital to treat patients in remote areas across the Kingdom. Together, we are on a fast-track to safer, more effective care,” added Dr. Hachach-Haram.

The growing health tech company recently closed its Series C funding round, raising around US$ 80 million. The financing was led by Advent Life Sciences, with new investors joining in, including Abu Dhabi’s wealth fund Mubadala, as well as SoftBank Vision Fund 2.

Proximie’s solutions have been used at more than 500 hospitals worldwide and supported more than tens of thousands. The company currently operates in more than 50 countries on five continents.

Meta's Stock Value Plunged 70% in 2022, the Biggest Drop Among the Big Five Tech Giants

2022 has been a rough year for the world's largest tech companies. After a series of disappointing results, the stock prices of Apple, Alphabet, Microsoft, Amazon, and Meta slumped, wiping off trillions of dollars in their market values. Still, the social media giant Meta suffered the most brutal hit.

According to data presented by TradingPlatforms.com, Meta's stock value plunged 70% year-to-date, the biggest drop among the big five tech companies.

Almost $750B Wiped off the Stock Value

Meta's move to the Metaverse dragged down profit, as the company lost a shocking $9.4bn in the nine months of 2022. Investors have been concerned about Meta's rising costs and expenses for some time. In the third quarter, they jumped by 19% YoY to $22.1bn, while profits plunged by 52%. The company's operating income was down by 46% from the previous year to $5.66bn.

The rising costs and plunging profits led to more than 11,000 layoffs, or 13% of Meta's workforce, and caused its stock value to plummet by $750bn since the beginning of the year. More than the loss of any other major tech company. According to YCharts data, Meta's market cap stood at $307bn last week, down from $1.05trn in January.

Amazon follows Meta when talking about the stock value drop. The e-commerce giant narrowly missed sales expectations for the third quarter, but what mostly spooked investors was its guidance for the important holiday quarter, which predicts a significant slowdown in year-over-year sales growth. Immediately after the announcement, Amazon's stock value plunged to its lowest level since early 2020 and down 45% for the year. Although it slightly recovered since then, the tech giant still lost $509bn or 35% of its stock value this year.

Big Five Tech Giants Collectively Lost $2.5T in Stock Value This Year

Apple, Microsoft, and Alphabet also count their losses in hundreds of billions of dollars. In October, Alphabet reported its weakest quarter-over-quarter growth since 2013, except for the period early in the Covid-19 pandemic. Revenue growth slowed to 6% from 41% a year before as the company faced a continued decline in online ad spending. Also, its stock value dropped by $470bn or 28% year-to-date, the third-largest decrease among the Big five.

Microsoft lost $526bn or 22% of its stock value in 2022, while Apple has seen the smallest market cap drop of all five companies, with its stock value falling by $270bn or 10% this year.

The YCharts data show the five tech giants have collectively lost more than $2.5trn in stock value year-to-date. Last week, their combined market caps amounted to $6.5trn, down from $9trn in January.

THE AMERICAN UNIVERSITY IN CAIRO CELEBRATES THE GRADUATION OF THE 13TH COHORT OF THE ACCESS MICROSCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

December 15, 2022, Cairo – The School of Continuing Education (SCE) at The American University in Cairo (AUC) celebrated the graduation of the 13th cohort of The Access Microscholarship Program. The program, funded by the U.S Department of State and managed by the U.S Embassy in Egypt, is a global scholarship program that provides a foundation of English language and 21st century skills to promising but disadvantaged high school students aged between 13 and 18 years old. The two-year program involves a variety of experiential tracks that develop cross-cultural understanding in addition to soft skills. The aim is to empower participants to pursue better educational and career opportunities and compete for future exchanges and study in the United States.

“AUC has a long history of collaborating with the U.S. Embassy on a variety of projects. However, we have always had a soft spot for the Access program,” said AUC President Ahmad Dallal. “We thank our partners for having the vision to create such an impactful program and for their continued confidence in AUC to deliver it to its full potential.”

Since its inception in Egypt in 2006, more than 5,000 students have participated in the Access program. AUC’s School of Continuing Education (SCE) has delivered classes to over 2,000 of these students in more than 16 cities around the country. In addition to English language learning, the Access program includes an immersive skill-building camp and a community service project. This year, students focused on initiatives that complement Egypt’s environmental goals against the backdrop of COP27. They also performed a series of theatrical skits that demonstrated the significance of climate action.

Ambassador Daniel Rubinstein, U.S. Embassy’s Chargé d’Affaires highlighted that the Access program is not simply about learning English. “It teaches life skills that will help you throughout your academic and professional careers,” he said. “During your time as Access students, you have strengthened your English language skills, built self-confidence and developed critical thinking skills. You have become promising young leaders,” he added.

Kareem Mohamed, a graduating Access student from Cairo, reported feeling determined as he finished the program. “I want to do something useful for my community — the kind of work that is written in history books. It may sound ambitious, but I believe we can do it and I will do my best to achieve it,” he said.

Mahmoud Al-Kilany and Marwan Al-Kilany, Access students from Port Said made it extra special for their family to see them both graduate among the 13th cohort of the program. Their father Reda, expressed his optimal happiness and pride, saying: “It felt incredible to see my sons walking across the stage at AUC. It felt like I was rediscovering them. They started the program as children and they matured into remarkable young men throughout it. I’m a very proud father.”

This particular cohort will also be eligible to benefit from the upcoming Bridges Plus Program, which will facilitate for them a smooth transition to college life.

“The Access students are a constant source of inspiration and optimism for all of us at the School of Continuing Education,” said James Ketterer, dean of SCE. “They represent hope and possibility for their families and for the future of Egypt, and I thank parents and teachers for their constant support.”
