First Chartered Directors headline a landmark year as GCC BDI and The Financial Academy strengthen the region’s board leadership
- 148 professionals complete GCC BDI’s Certificate, Chartered Director, and Board Secretary certifications
- Oman Investment Authority becomes the first in Oman to complete an in-house Director Development Programme with GCC BDI
Riyadh, KSA, 13 October 2025 — The GCC Board Directors Institute (GCC BDI), in partnership with The Financial Academy, has marked a breakthrough year in board development across the region — conferring Chartered Director status for the first time and certifying 148 professionals through its flagship programmes. The Financial Academy serves as the official Awarding Body for all GCC BDI certifications.
This year’s achievements go beyond numbers. GCC BDI’s first Chartered Directors have now completed the full journey from Certificate to Chartered status. This end-to-end pathway equips leaders with the skills and insight to drive board effectiveness across the region. In Oman, GCC BDI delivered a bespoke in-house Director Development Programme for the Oman Investment Authority (OIA), making it the first organisation in the country to undertake this level of board training with the Institute.
His Highness Sayyid Juland Jaifar Al Said, Governor of GCC BDI and Chief of the Governance, Risk, and Compliance Directorate at OIA, said: “OIA’s partnership with GCC BDI underscores our strong commitment to world class corporate governance and board excellence. As the first organisation in Oman to complete an in-house director development programme with GCC BDI, we are proud to set a new benchmark for board leadership and governance standards.”
GCC BDI’s certification programmes are designed to equip future board leaders with the skills and knowledge to:
- Strengthen governance practices: Apply leading board governance principles to enhance effectiveness and accountability.
- Enhance strategic oversight: Develop sharper judgement in decision-making, risk management, and long-term planning.
- Build financial competence: Interpret and evaluate financial information to ensure transparency and sustainable performance :
- Lead with integrity: Champion ethical leadership and cultivate responsible, future-ready boards.
This year’s achievements mark a clear step-change in scale and impact. Building on 129 certified in 2024 and 25 in 2023, 148 professionals have been certified in GCC BDI’s programmes in 2025 to date - reflecting growing demand for structured board development and a deepening commitment to governance across the region. The class of 2025 to date includes 130 Certified Board Directors, 5 Diploma awardees, 3 Chartered Directors and 10 Certified Board Secretaries. Since its inception in 2019, GCC BDI has certified a total of 374 Board Directors, 54 Board Secretaries, 22 Diploma holders, and 4 Chartered Directors.

الرياض، 13 أكتوبر 2025: شهد معهد مجالس الإدارات في دول مجلس التعاون الخليجي، بالشراكة مع الأكاديمية المالية، عاماً متميزاً من تطوير مجالس الإدارة في المنطقة، حيث منح صفة المدير المعتمد لأول مرة وأصدر شهادات لـ 148 متخصصاً مهنياً عبر برامجه الرائدة. وتعدّ الأكاديمية المالية الجهة المانحة الرسمية لكل شهادات المعهد.
وتتخطى إنجازات العام الحالي الأرقام، إذ أتمّ أول مديرين معتمدين لدى المعهد الرحلة الكاملة، بدءاً من حصولهم على الشهادة ووصولاً إلى نيل صفة المدير المعتمد. ويزوّد ذلك المسار الشامل القادة بالمهارات والرؤى اللازمة لتعزيز فاعلية مجالس الإدارة عبر مختلف أنحاء المنطقة. وقدّم المعهد في سلطنة عُمان برنامج تطوير المديرين الداخلي المصمم خصيصاً لجهاز الاستثمار العماني، ليصبح بذلك أول مؤسسة في السلطنة توفّر ذلك المستوى من التدريب لمجالس الإدارة مع المعهد.
وقال صاحب السمو السيد جلند بن جيفر آل سعيد، محافظ المعهد ورئيس الحوكمة وإدارة المخاطر والامتثال في جهاز الاستثمار العماني: "تؤكد شراكة الجهاز مع المعهد التزامنا الراسخ بالحوكمة المؤسسية عالمية المستوى وتميّز مجالس الإدارة. ونعتزّ بكوننا أول مؤسسة في سلطنة عُمان تُكمل برنامج تطوير المديرين الداخلي مع المعهد، حيث نرسي بذلك معياراً جديداً لقيادة مجالس الإدارة والحوكمة".
وصمّم المعهد برامج الشهادات لديه بهدف تزويد قادة مجالس الإدارة المقبلين بالمهارات والمعرفة اللازمة، وذلك لتحقيق ما يلي:
- تعزيز ممارسات الحوكمة: تطبيق المبادئ الرائدة لحوكمة مجالس الإدارة بهدف تحسين الفاعلية والمسؤولية.
- الارتقاء بالرقابة الاستراتيجية: تطوير قدرات أدق على اتخاذ القرارات والتعامل مع المخاطر والتخطيط بعيد المدى.
- بناء الكفاءة المالية: تفسير وتقييم المعلومات المالية لضمان الشفافية والأداء المستدام.
- القيادة بنزاهة: مناصرة القيادة الأخلاقية وبناء مجالس إدارة مسؤولة وجاهزة للمستقبل.
كما تمثل إنجازات العام الحالي خطوة واضحة نحو توسيع النطاق والتأثير، فبعد منح شهادات لـ 129 متخصصاً عام 2024 و25 متخصصاً عام 2023، حصل 148 متخصصاً على شهادات من برامج المعهد خلال عام 2025 حتى الآن، ما يظهر الطلب المتنامي على التطوير المنظّم لمجالس الإدارة والالتزام المتعمق بالحوكمة عبر أنحاء المنطقة. وتضم دفعة 2025 حتى الآن 130 عضواً معتمداً في مجالس الإدارة، و5 من الحاصلين على الدبلوم، و3 مديرين معتمدين، و10 أمناء معتمدين لمجالس الإدارة. ومنح المعهد منذ انطلاقه عام 2019 شهادات لـ 374 عضو مجلس إدارة، و54 أمين مجلس إدارة، و22 حاصلاً على الدبلوم، و4 مديرين معتمدين.
وقال جون غوليفر، الرئيس التنفيذي للمعهد: "نفخر بتخرّج أول مديرين معتمدين لدينا من البرنامج، بعدما أتمّوا برنامج المديرين الذي يقدمه المعهد بالكامل. يبرز ذلك الرغبة المتنامية في التطوير المنظّم وعالي التأثير لمجالس إدارة عبر أنحاء المنطقة".
من جانبه، قال مانع آل خمسان، الرئيس التنفيذي للأكاديمية المالية: "تتشرّف الأكاديمية المالية بشراكتها الاستراتيجية مع المعهد ودورها كجهة مانحة رسمية لشهاداته. وإلى جانب منح الاعتمادات، نلتزم بتزويد قادة مجالس الإدارة بالقدرات اللازمة لقيادة تحوّل نوعي، وتعزيز ثقة المستثمرين، وترسيخ مكانة المملكة كمركز مالي إقليمي رائد ذي امتداد عالمي. وانطلاقاً من استراتيجيتها ورسالتها الرامية إلى الارتقاء ببرنامج تطوير القطاع المالي، تكرّس الأكاديمية جهودها لدعم تحقيق رؤية المملكة 2030".
شهادات الخريجين
وأكّدت ريما بطرس، المستشارة الأولى لمجالس الإدارة وحوكمة الشركات لدى سياق للاستشارات: "حوّلت شهادة إدارة المجالس النظريات إلى ممارسة، حيث أصبحت الأطر التي تعلمتها جزءاً من كل النقاشات الدائرة في قاعة الاجتماعات، ما يساعدني على المساهمة بثقة في الاستراتيجية والتعامل مع المخاطر".
كما أضافت لميس التويجري، أمينة مجلس الإدارة لدى شركة التنمية الغذائية: "أعاد برنامج أمين مجلس الإدارة المعتمد تشكيل أسلوب دعمي للرئيس واللجان، إذ أصبحت جداول أعمالنا أكثر تركيزاً، ومحاضرنا أكثر وضوحاً، وامتثالنا أكثر متانة".
وأشار وائل الراشد، عضو مجلس إدارة مستقل: "لخّصت دورة المدير المعتمد سنوات من الخبرة في قاعات الاجتماعات إلى معيار صارم، وصقلت طريقة مواجهتي للتحديات وقيادتي ورعايتي للقيمة من منصبي كعضو مجلس إدارة غير تنفيذي".
على صعيد آخر، كرّمت مجلة Capital Finance International (CFI) المعهد بصفته "رائداً في إعداد قادة مجالس الإدارة للمستقبل –الشرق الأوسط 2025"، ما يبرز ريادته في إضفاء طابع مهني على مجالس الإدارة على نطاق واسع. ومع تخرّج أول مديرين معتمدين وتحقيق إنجاز وطني في عُمان، تجسّد الجائزة ثقة السوق المتزايدة في دور المعهد في الارتقاء بمعايير الحوكمة عبر المؤسسات العامة والخاصة والعائلية.
