Abu Dhabi, UAE: 18 May 2022 – The UAE’s Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC) hosted a virtual tour of the UAE’s science and technology ecosystem for Singapore’s business, research and science community. The latest virtual tour, hosted in cooperation with the UAE Embassy in Singapore, showcased the UAE’s Fourth Industrial Revolution strategy and the opportunities that exist for collaboration in advanced manufacturing.
The UAE Sci-Tech Virtual Tours, which was launched in 2021, is one of MoIAT’s initiatives designed to help position the UAE as a global hub for science and technology and an enabling environment for the industries of the future. In addition to offering information on the UAE’s science and technology capabilities, the virtual tours facilitate business-to-business introductions between stakeholders and investors and provide a platform for public- and private-sector stakeholders to exchange ideas and expertise.
More than 50 delegates participated in the virtual tour, which concluded with a high-level pitch session that directly connected Singaporean startups to UAE experts and investors, including senior executives from Emirati defense technology group EDGE, the technology transition arm of the Advanced Technology Research Council Aspire, MoIAT, and the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI). The pitch session connected Singaporean startups to potential investors from the UAE, as well as provided guidance on the relevant technologies needed to ensure maximum profitability and increased productivity and efficiency.
From his side, H.E. Jamal Abdulla AlSuwaidi, the UAE’s Ambassador in the Republic of Singapore, noted: " The UAE is Singapore’s largest trading partner in the region, and bilateral trade reached a record level in 2021 of over 21 billion Singaporean dollars. The two countries have several economic opportunities in the digital economy, green economy, smart cities, fintech, and agritech sectors, among others."
Al Suwaidi added: “Singapore has made major strides in advancing the Fourth Industrial Revolution. This outcome is the result of an exceptional ecosystem comprising the formulation and implementation of a set of policies, strategies, and economic vision. I congratulate the organizers of this virtual tour series, and the UAE Embassy in Singapore will continue to connect the best and most successful companies with various governmental and private institutions in the UAE for the additional exchange of ideas and expertise between our two countries.
Mohammed Al-Qasim, Director of Technology Development and Adoption, Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, said: “The virtual tour series is an essential component of the Ministry’s work to promote collaboration with global counterparts and facilitate engagements with experts and investors around the world to benefit the UAE industrial sector. Forging relationships with leading companies and research institutions and attracting investment to key sectors are fundamental to these ambitions – which is why the virtual tours are proving to be so valuable.
“Through initiatives such as the UAE Sci-Tech virtual tours, the Ministry aims to engage in knowledge and experience exchanges with relevant stakeholders and ecosystems around the world. These initiatives allow us to underline the UAE’s position as platform for collaboration and a hub for science and technology. In turn, they contribute to the Ministry’s overarching objective to transform the UAE’s industrial sector into an engine for economic growth, innovation and diversification.”
Al-Qasim highlighted the long-standing trade, investment and technology ties between the UAE and Singapore, including recent partnerships in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, the Internet of Things, smart cities, 5G adoption and cybersecurity.
“The UAE Sci-Tech virtual tours are proving very popular, indicating the enthusiasm of the global community to engage with the UAE’s industrial sector. We look forward to arranging more virtual tours with our international partners in the coming months. The UAE’s industrial sector has much to offer on a global level and the virtual tours will continue to be an important part of highlighting its vibrancy to potential partners.”
The event followed similar virtual tours held to promote the UAE’s technology and science ecosystem to Israeli, Spanish and Korean delegations. The virtual tours are part of the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology’s mission to promote the UAE’s industrial, technological and research capabilities and present opportunities for further collaboration and growth.

أبوظبي، 18 مايو 2022: استضافت وزارة الصناعة والتكنولوجيا المتقدمة، بالتعاون مع وزارة الخارجية والتعاون الدولي، جولة افتراضية لمنظومة العلوم والتكنولوجيا في دولة الإمارات لمجتمع الأعمال والعلماء في سنغافورة. واستعرضت الجولة الافتراضية، والتي أقيمت بالتعاون مع سفارة الإمارات في سنغافورة، استراتيجية الإمارات للثورة الصناعية الرابعة، والفرص المتاحة للتعاون في مجال التصنيع المتقدم.
وتعد الجولات الافتراضية، التي أُطلقت عام 2021، إحدى مبادرات وزارة الصناعة والتكنولوجيا المتقدمة المصممة للمساعدة على تعزيز حضور دولة الإمارات كمركز عالمي للعلوم والتكنولوجيا المتقدمة وبيئة مواتية لصناعات المستقبل.
وتسهّل الجولات الافتراضية التواصل بين الشركات وأصحاب المصلحة والمستثمرين، وتوفر منصة لأصحاب المصلحة في القطاعين الحكومي والخاص والشركات الوطنية الكبرى لتبادل الأفكار والخبرات، إضافة إلى تقديم معلومات حول القدرات العلمية والتكنولوجية في دولة الإمارات، وكذلك ربط الشركات السنغافورية الناشئة بالمستثمرين من دولة الإمارات.
وشارك أكثر من 50 مشاركاً في الجولة الافتراضية، التي اختُتمت بجلسة رفيعة لتبادل الأفكار ربطت الشركات السنغافورية الناشئة بالمسؤولين و الخبراء والمستثمرين الإماراتيين، بما يضم كبار المديرين التنفيذيين من مجموعة تكنولوجيا الدفاع الإماراتية "إيدج"، و"أسباير" ذراع إدارة برامج التكنولوجيا لمجلس أبحاث التكنولوجيا المتطورة في أبوظبي، وجامعة محمد بن زايد للذكاء الاصطناعي.
من جانبه، أكّد سعادة الدكتور جمال عبدالله السويدي، سفير الإمارات لدى جمهورية سنغافورة: " أن الإمارات تعتبر أكبر شريك تجاري لسنغافورة في منطقة الشرق الأوسط. وقد وصل حجم التبادل التجاري بين البلدين في عام 2021 إلى مستوى قياسي و الذي بلغ 21 مليار دولار سنغافوري مما يقارب 15 مليار دولار أمريكي. حيث ان هناك العديد من الفرص التجارية بين البلديين في القطاعات الحيوية تشمل الاقتصاد الرقمي والاقتصاد الأخضر والأمن الغذائي والمدن الذكية.”
وأضاف سعادة السويدي: "حققت سنغافورة نجاحات كبيرة في الثورة الصناعية الرابعة. وتأتى هذا النجاحات بسبب توفير بيئة اقتصادية متكاملة وتطبيق السياسات والاستراتيجيات الاقتصادية الداعمة للثورة الصناعية الرابعة. و عليه يسعدني أن أهنئ جميع المشرفين على تنظيم هذه الفعالية المتميزة، وأود التأكيد بان السفارة ستواصل مبادراتها وبرامجها لتشجيع الشركات السنغافورية الناجحة في مجال الثورة الرابعة، وذلك بهدف تنمية التعاون وتبادل التجارب مع الشركات المماثلة في الدولة وتقوية الروابط والعلاقات التجارية بين دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة وسنغافورة”.
وبهذه المناسبة، قال محمد القاسم، مدير إدارة تبني تطوير التكنولوجيا المتقدمة في الوزارة: "تعد سلسلة الجولات الافتراضية عنصراً أساسياً ضمن نهج الوزارة للارتقاء بمستوى التعاون مع النظراء العالميين وتسهيل التفاعل مع الخبراء والمستثمرين حول العالم لتحقيق الفائدة للقطاع الصناعي الإماراتي. كما وتسهم في إقامة علاقات ناجحة مع الشركات والمؤسسات البحثية الرائدة، بما ينعكس على جذب الاستثمار إلى القطاعات الرئيسية، ويمكن لقطاع الصناعة في دولة الإمارات تقديم الكثير على المستوى العالمي".
وقال: "عن طريق مبادرات مثل الجولات الافتراضية، تهدف الوزارة إلى التفاعل وتبادل المعرفة والخبرات مع أصحاب المصلحة المعنيين ومختلف المنظومات في كل أنحاء العالم. تتيح لنا تلك المبادرات التأكيد على مكانة دولة الإمارات الراسخة كمنصة للتعاون ومركزا إقليمياً وعالمياً للعلوم والتكنولوجيا. حيث تساهم هذه المبادرة في هدف الوزارة المتمثل في تحويل القطاع الصناعي الإماراتي إلى محرك للنمو الاقتصادي المستدام والابتكار ".
وركّز القاسم على العلاقات التجارية والاستثمارية والتكنولوجية الممتدة بين الإمارات وسنغافورة، بما يشمل الشراكات في مجالات الذكاء الاصطناعي وإنترنت الأشياء والمدن الذكية واعتماد شبكات الجيل الخامس والأمن السيبراني وغيرها، حيث حصدت الجولات الافتراضية شعبية كبيرة، مما يشير إلى حماسة المجتمع العالمي للتعامل مع القطاع الصناعي في الإمارات. ونتطلع إلى تنظيم المزيد من الجولات الافتراضية مع شركائنا الدوليين خلال الأشهر المقبلة.
وجاء الحدث في أعقاب جولات افتراضية مماثلة استضيفت لتعزيز المنظومة التكنولوجية والعلمية في دولة الإمارات لوفود إسرائيلية وإسبانية وكورية. وتشكل الجولات الافتراضية جزءاً من مهمة وزارة الصناعة والتكنولوجيا المتقدمة للارتقاء بالقدرات الصناعية والتكنولوجية والبحثية في الإمارات وإتاحة فرص لمزيد من التعاون والنمو.
