Public voting for a preferred fashion designer is taking place now through February 26
Cairo, Egypt: 22 February 2022 – MARAKEZ, one of the largest mixed-use developers in Egypt, will host the first-ever Egyptian Fashion Awards at Mall of Arabia on February 27 in cooperation with the Egyptian Fashion & Design Council and the British Council Egypt.
“Fashion is a pillar of the MARAKEZ business strategy and we proactively seek opportunities to support the next generation of local fashion designers to elevate young Egyptian talent and the fashion industry as a whole,” said Nadia Ezz, Director of Marketing, MARAKEZ. “As one of Egypt’s largest commercial mixed-use developers with five commercial malls, two of which are opening soon, we are taking the lead by providing industry support for the Egyptian fashion ecosystem and empowering creatives and designers as future leaders of the sector.”
Titled “The London Fashion Experience,” the gala event and awards ceremony will take place at West Cairo’s favorite shopping destination, Mall of Arabia, on February 27 in front of Gala Restaurant. More than 130 entries were received across four categories: Young Designers - 2019 or 2020 graduates in the fashion, accessory or jewelry design sector and up to two years in the business; Emerging Designers – produce commercially available apparel for a minimum of two years and a maximum of eight years; Accessory Designers - produce commercially available accessories for a minimum of two years and a maximum of eight years; and Jewelry Designers - produce commercially available jewelry for a minimum of two years and a maximum of eight years.

Our judges, who will be crowning the 4 winners, represent a mix of highly-respected, professional individuals who are freely giving their time and understand the importance of sharing their expertise in design, education, retail, marketing and business and of course a bit of glamour, all elements of a successful fashion designer's business."
The advisory board selected five finalists in each category:

Through February 26, the public can vote for their preferred designer by viewing their collections and casting their vote at Gate 13 in front of dstore in Mall of Arabia.

At the fashion show in front of Gala Restaurant on February 27, a high-profile jury of fashion industry members and celebrities will select and announce the winners. Mall of Arabia will display the finalists’ collections at a popup location in the mall, while the Egyptian Fashion & Design Council will offer mentorship and business guidance to the winners.

Egypt has always been a center of creativity and style and initiatives like this help put us back on the global map. With support from the British Council, the winner of each category will travel to London Fashion Week in September 2022 to enjoy the ultimate fashion experience, gain firsthand knowledge about a variety of facets of an international fashion week as they plan their own participation in the future.

Over the years we have offered a diverse range of international opportunities, including exhibitions, collaborative projects, educational activities, and specialist visits to the UK. We will continue this commitment to supporting opportunities for collaborations linking designers from Egypt and the UK. We are very excited that, through the Egyptian Fashion Awards, four designers will get a deeper look at the international fashion trade when it gathers at London Fashion Week in September,” said Cathy Costain, Head of Arts at The British Council.
MARAKEZ has been a long-time, proud supporter of the Egyptian fashion industry. In addition to hosting the Egypt Fashion Awards 2022, the company also supported Egypt’s first ever fashion industry delegation to MQ Vienna Fashion Week in 2021, and previously partnered with Alashanek ya Balady Association for Sustainable Development, a local non-governmental organization (NGO), to support their mission and provide them with a booth at Mall of Arabia to sell products handmade by women the organization has trained through their programs. القاهرة، مصر: 22 فبراير 2022 -تستضيف مراكز، كبرى شركات تطوير المشروعات متعددة الاستخدامات في مصر، حفل توزيع جوائز الموضة الرسمي الأول على الإطلاق في مصرEgypt Fashion Awards 2022 والذي يُقام في مول العرب يوم 27 فبراير الجاري بالتعاون مع مجلس الأزياء والتصميم المصري والمجلس الثقافي البريطاني في مصر.

يُقام حفل توزيع الجوائز هذا العام تحت عنوان "تجربة الموضة في لندن" في مول العرب، وجهة التسوق المفضلة بغرب القاهرة، وذلك يوم 27 فبراير بالقرب من بوابة 15 أمام مطعم جالا. وفي هذا الإطار، تلقت لجنة المسابقة أكثر من 130 مشاركة عبر أربع فئات هي: فئة المصممين الشباب من خريجي ٢٠١٩ أو ٢٠٢٠ في تصميم الأزياء أو الإكسسوارات أو المجوهرات حتى عامين من الخبرة في المجال؛ فئة المصممين الناشئين ممن قاموا بإنتاج الملابس وعرضها تجارياً لمدة لا تقل عن سنتين إلى ٨ سنوات كحد أقصى، وفئة مصممي الإكسسوارات من المنتجين الذين عرضوا منتجاتهم تجاريًا لمدة لا تقل عن سنتين إلى ٨ سنوات كحد أقصى؛ وفئة مصممي المجوهرات من المنتجين الذين عرضوا منتجاتهم تجاريًا لمدة لا تقل عن سنتين إلى ٨ سنوات كحد أقصى .
ومن جانبها تقول سوزان ثابت-عضو مجلس إدارة المجلس المصري للأزياء والتصميم: "بالنيابة عن أعضاء مجلس إدارة المجلس المصري للأزياء والتصميم، أود التعبير عن كامل تقديرنا لرؤية ومجهودات شركة مراكز والمجلس الثقافي البريطاني في مصر وجميع الشركاء الذين أتاحوا لنا من خلال مساهماتهم القيمة تنظيم النسخة الأولى من جوائز مصر السنوية للأزياء، والتي تُعد عنصرًا محورياُ في تحقيق أحد أهداف المجلس والمتمثل في رعاية مواهبنا الشابة وتوجيهها والترويج لها. كما نتوجه أيضًا بجزيل الشكر لأعضاء المجلس الاستشاري الدولي الذين يحظون باحترام وتقدير عالمي في صناعة الأزياء حول العالم؛ فقد منحونا الكثير من وقتهم لاختيار المتأهلين للتصفيات النهائية. هذا بالإضافة إلى لجنة التحكيم التي ستتوّج الفائزين الأربعة، وهي لجنة متخصصة تضم مزيجًا من المحترفين في مجالهم، وقد منحونا الكثير من وقتهم وكانوا على مدركين لأهمية مشاركة خبراتهم في التصميم والتعليم والبيع بالتجزئة والتسويق والأعمال بشكل ممتع وسلس"
هذا وقد قامت الهيئة الاستشارية لمحكّمي المسابقة والتي تضم نخبة من كبار صناع الموضة الإقليميين والعالميين باختيار خمسة متأهلين للتصفيات النهائية في كل فئة وهم:
فئة المصممين الشباب: بسنت ماكسيموس، مارينا عازر، ندى حسني، آلاء أبو الجود، أسماء الدجوى
فئة المصممين الناشئين: ريجاش، معاذ البحيري، ميسون سعدي، Double A، عليا أباظة
فئة مصممي الإكسسوارات: Aliel، The Bag، Jarii، رشا باشا، Jlood
فئة مصممي المجوهرات: منة بودي، ريم جانو، ميمزو، Roknayah Design، Ammanii
يمكن للجمهور أيضًا التصويت لمصممهم المفضل حتى 26 فبراير والإدلاء بأصواتهم أمام بوابة 13 بجانب dstore في مول العرب.
ستقوم لجنة التحكيم رفيعة المستوى من مشاهير صناعة الأزياء والموضة خلال عرض الأزياء الذي سيقام أمام مطعم جالا، باختيار الفائزين والإعلان عنهم، حيث سيعرض مول العرب قطعاً من أعمال المتأهلين للتصفيات النهائية في موقع متميز داخل المول، بينما سيقدم مجلس الأزياء والتصميم المصري الدعم والتوجيه للفائزين.
وتعليقاً على ذلك، تقول عزة فهمي-مصممة المجوهرات المصرية ومؤسس مؤسسة دار التصميم- مجوهرات عزة فهمي: "يسعدني أن أكون من أعضاء لجنة تحكيم جوائز مصر للأزياء هذا العام، كما أتطلع بشغف لرؤية المواهب الشابة التي ستنطلق عبر هذا الحدث الهام."
سيسافر الفائز من كل فئة ضمن فئات مسابقة جوائز مصر للأزياء إلى أسبوع الموضة في لندن والي يُقام في سبتمبر 2022، للاستمتاع بأفضل تجربة للموضة على الإطلاق والمشاركة في الحدث الأبرز للموضة بالعالم والتعرف على الجوانب المختلفة لهذا الحدث الضخم بما يمكّنهم من التخطيط لمشاركة ناجحة في فعاليات مماثلة بالمستقبل.
ومن جانبه قال رامي القاضي-المدير الإبداعي لرامي القاضي Maison de Couture "يشرفني أن أشارك في “جوائز مصر للأزياء-فئة المصممين الناشئين. لقد بدأت في الصغر وحصلت على الدعم اللازم للوصول إلى ما أنا عليه اليوم، لذلك أود أن أقوم بنفس الشيء مع المصممين الآخرين، خاصة في منطقتنا العربية"
ومن جانبها تقول كاثي كوثين-رئيس قطاع الفنون في المجلس الثقافي البريطاني: "إننا نؤمن أن الصناعات الإبداعية تحقق مزايا اقتصادية واجتماعية كبيرة لأي بلد. لذلك نحرص بشكل مستمر على دعم صانعي السياسات والقادة المبدعين، ورواد الأعمال على تطوير أعمالهم، وبناء علاقات مع القطاعات المرتبطة بأعمالهم في بريطانيا، وتوفير مكان لهم على الساحة الدولية. لذلك يسعدنا في المجلس الثقافي البريطاني أن نساهم في تطبيق ذلك المفهوم في مصر من خلال مشاركتنا في مسابقة جوائز مصر للأزياء 2022 في نسختها الأولى.“

إن شركة مراكز تفخر دائماً بكونها داعمًا قوياُ لصناعة الأزياء المصرية منذ فترة طويلة. فبالإضافة إلى استضافة حفل توزيع جوائز مصر للأزياء 2022، قامت مراكز بدعم أول وفد مصري على الإطلاق لصناعة الأزياء خلال مشاركته في أسبوع الموضة في فيينا MQ Vienna Fashion Week عام 2021، كما قامت الشركة قبل ذلك بالتعاون مع جمعية علشانك يا بلدي للتنمية المستدامة، وهي منظمة محلية غير حكومية؛ بهدف دعم أهداف الجمعية من خلال توفير جناح لهم في مول العرب لبيع المنتجات اليدوية للسيدات الذين دربتهم المنظمة في إطار البرامج التي تنظمها.
