WHAT
The School of Continuing Education (SCE) at The American University in Cairo is launching the 13th cohort of The Access Microscholarship Program, teaching English language to 168 talented underprivileged students aged between 13- and 18-year-old. The program, which is powered by the U.S. Department of State, includes students from Cairo, Tanta, Port Said and Aswan and teaches them the English language through a variety of experiential tracks that develop their cross-cultural understanding in addition to their soft skills. Classes are delivered by AUC’s SCE, in partnership with The Regional English Language Office (RELO) of the U.S. Embassy in Egypt.
Opening remarks will be given by AUC President Ahmad Dallal; James Ketterer, dean of AUC’s School of Continuing Education; Lauren Lovelace, U.S. Embassy minister counselor for public affairs; Micah Risher, RELO; as well as two of the Access Program’s alumni.
