Cairo, Egypt, December 29th, 2020 – Signify, the world leader in lighting, announced launching two new locally made LED-based products; Downlight and HighBay. The two innovative lighting products provide corporates with unmatched lighting quality, whilst ensuring high energy efficiency. Both models are easy to install and maintain powerful illumination for over 50,000 hours at a temperature of up to 35 degrees Celsius.
The world is switching to the use of energy-saving lighting systems such as LED. These superior technologies can reduce energy consumption by up to 50% and cut carbon emissions and greenhouse gases by 30% compared to traditional systems.
Karim Mosaad, Commercial Leader at Signify Egypt and Northeast Africa said: “The launch of locally made products is part of Signify’s strategy that was launched two years ago aimed at providing lighting products to various economic projects while ensuring the utmost global specifications. The company’s new products come under the slogan “Made in Egypt” and at a reasonable price for all kinds of projects.”
He added: “Egypt is a major centre for Signify in North and East Africa. In the last period, the Coronavirus pandemic (covid-19) has accelerated the company's plans to expand its business in Egypt; as it proved the importance of local manufacturing. The Egyptian government under President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi has realized the importance of industry, which contributes 12% to Egypt’s GDP, in the development process, providing job opportunities for young people, and exploit Egypt’s unique geographical location to tap new export markets in Africa and around the world.
Prompted by the Egyptian government’s keenness on supporting international investors operating in Egypt, Signify has increased the volume of local manufacturing in Egypt and launched several lighting products and systems for project sectors such as Downlight GreenSpace Gen5 and HighBay headlights.”
The new products are used in a wide range of projects currently underway in the New Administrative Capital and New Alamein. This represents a great motivation for Signify to expand its business in Egypt this year to provide more products to provide affordable solutions to all sectors, including airports, offices, retail, warehouses, factories, and indoor projects in general. It is expected that Downlight and HighBay will sell over 100,000 locally manufactured units in Egypt alone.
Signify has started manufacturing its latest lighting products in Egypt with global international specifications under the slogan “Made in Egypt” in 2018 by offering LED bulbs and panels of various sizes and shapes with a Philips international warranty at prices that commensurate with consumers in the Egyptian market. The locally manufactured panels achieve sales of up to 120,000 locally manufactured units. Signify intends to expand during the year 2021 in the production of all locally manufactured products.
Referring to Environment and society, Signify is proud to announce that it has achieved carbon neutrality for all its operations across the world as well as using 100% renewable electricity. While the company progresses towards its remaining commitments for 2020, it will already embark on a new five-year journey in which it will focus on doubling its positive impact on the environment and society.

القاهرة، 29 ديسمبر، 2020 – قال كريم مسعد، مدير قطاع المشروعات بسيجنفاي مصر وشمال شرق إفريقيا، إن مصر تعد مركزا رئيسيا لأعمال الشركة في منطقة شمال وشرق أفريقيا، وأن أزمة فيروس كورونا خلال الفترة الماضية سرعت من خطط الشركة لتوسعة أعمالها في مصر؛ حيث أثبتت أهمية التصنيع المحلي في كافة مجالات العمل وهو ما ظهرت نتائجه في زيادة حجم التصنيع المحلي لمنتجات سيجنفاي في مصر وطرحها لعدد جديد من منتجات وأنظمة الإضاءة المخصصة لقطاعات المشروعات مثل كشافات Downlight GreenSpace Gen5 وHighBay.
وأكد "مسعد"، أن إطلاق المنتجات الجديدة المحلية الصنع يأتي في إطار تطبيق استراتيجية سجنفاي التي أطلقتها منذ عامين لتقديم منتجات الإضاءة لمختلف المشروعات الاقتصادية، وتوفير منتجات بالمواصفات العالمية تحت شعار "صنع في مصر" وبسعر مناسب لجميع المشروعات، مشيرا إلى إنتاج أحدث أنواع كشافات Downlightو HighBay بأحجامهم المختلفة والتي تستخدم تكنولوجيا LED تتمتع بجودة الإضاءة، وتحقق كفاءة عالية في استخدام الطاقة، وسهلة التركيب ويصل عمرها الافتراضي إلي 50 الف ساعة في درجة حرارة تصل إلى 35 درجة مئوية، وهذه المنتجات تستخدم علي نطاق واسع في المشروعات التي تنفذها الحكومة حاليا في العاصمة الإدارية الجديدة ومدينة العلمين وذلك في إطار اتجاه العالم إلى التحول لاستخدام أنظمة إضاءة موفرة للطاقة مثل إضاءة LEDالتي تخفض الاستهلاك بنسبة تصل إلى 50%، كما أنها تقلل من انبعاثات الكربون والغازات المسببة للاحتباس الحراري بنسبة 30% أقل عن الأنظمة التقليدية.
وأضاف "مسعد" أن قطاع الصناعة يسهم في مصر بما يقرب من 12% من إجمالي الناتج المحلي، وأن الحكومة المصرية تسعي إلي دعم المستثمرين والشركات العالمية العاملة في مصر تأكيدا منها علي أهمية الدور الذى تلعبه الصناعة في عملية التنمية، وتوفير فرص عمل للشباب، وإمكانية تصدير المنتجات المحلية للدول الأفريقية خاصة وأن مصر بمثابة بوابة إلي قلب القارة السمراء؛ وهو ما يمثل دافعا كبيرا لسيجنفاي لتوسعة أعمالها في مصر هذا العام وتقديم مزيد من المنتجات التي تتوجه بها لتغطى كافة قطاعات المشروعات مثل المطارات، والمكاتب، والمخازن والمصانع، والأماكن المغلقة.
وكانت شركة سيجنفاي، الرائدة عالميا في مجال الإضاءة، بدأت في تصنيع أحدث منتجاتها للإضاءة في مصر بالمواصفات العالمية الأوروبية تحت شعار "صنع في مصر" عام 2018 من خلال طرح كشافات ولمبات LED بمختلف الأحجام والأشكال بضمان فيليبس العالمية وبأسعار تتناسب مع المستهلكين في السوق المصري واستطاعت الكشافات تحقيق مبيعات وصلت إلى 120 ألف وحدة مصنعة محليا، كما تنوى شركة سيجنفاي خلال العام عام 2021 التوسع في إنتاج جميع المنتجات المصنعة محليا.
وكانت سيجنفاي قد أعلنت تحقيقها لحيادية الكربون في كافة عملياتها في جميع أنحاء العالم، وكذلك الاعتماد بنسبة 100% على استخدام الكهرباء من المصادر المتجددة ولا تزال الشركة تواصل التزامها نحو البيئة والمجتمع خلال الفترة المتبقية من عام 2020، كما ستبدأ في الفترة القادمة خطة جديدة مدتها خمس سنوات تركز فيها على مضاعفة تأثيرها الإيجابي على البيئة والمجتمع.
