• Volvo named Car Technology Brand of the Year for the second year running
• Volvo XC60 wins Best Safety Technology, Best Sat-Nav and Best Safest Car awards
Volvo has again proved its technological leadership, winning four awards at the Car Tech Awards 2018.
Volvo was named Car Technology Brand of the Year for the second year running, while the Volvo XC60 was awarded Best Safety Technology for its revolutionary Steering Support system, Best Sat-Nav for its Sensus Navigation, and Best Safest Car because of its remarkable Euro NCAP crash test result.
The Car Tech Awards celebrate the best in-car technology launched over the past 12 months, as voted for by the experts from buyer's guide Carbuyer and technology website Alphr.
Commenting on the awards, Stuart Milne, Editor of Carbuyer, said: "Volvo's success in the Car Tech Awards is remarkable. The company scooped Car Technology Brand of the Year for the second year in succession. Our judges were impressed by the way Volvo refuses to rest on its laurels, developing a series of products and philosophies that build on its Vision 2020, that no one will be killed or seriously injured in a new Volvo by 2020.
"These include its commitment to stop producing cars powered solely by petrol and diesel starting from 2019 – a scheme recognized by the United Nations – as well as the launch of an evasive steering system in its new XC60 and forging a close relationship with Google to develop better-connected cars. This is in addition to the continual and incremental improvement in new car technology that all customers can enjoy."
Every XC60 comes with Volvo's ground-breaking Steering Support technology as standard. This automatically provides steering assistance in an emergency to help avoid potential collisions. The judges were impressed, saying: "It should come as little surprise that a brand so closely associated with safety should take our Best Safety Technology award. The new Steering Support system is a development of the firm's City Safety system. In situations where braking alone won't avoid a collision, the XC60 can take charge of steering. With the system, Volvo claims a 45 per cent reduction in rear-end frontal crashes."
The XC60 was named Best Safest Car after its outstanding Euro NCAP crash test result, where it scored 98 per cent for adult occupant protection and 95 per cent for its safety assistance features.
The XC60's Sensus Navigation system – also fitted as standard to every model – was praised by the judges as well. "Its display is a model of clarity and uses the same stunning, efficient design the brand is fast becoming synonymous with. It's not style over substance, though. The large screen makes destinations easy to input, and efficient and accurate routes are displayed. The whole system is responsive, simple to use and sets a new benchmark."

"فولفو" تحقق فوزاً كبيراً في "جوائز تقنيات السيارات"
أثبتت "فولفو" مجدداً ريادتها في عالم التكنولوجيا محققة أربعة انتصارات في "جوائز تقنيات السيارت" (Car Tech Awards) للعام 2018.
وفازت "فولفو" بلقب "أفضل علامة تجارية في تقنيات السيارات" (Car Technology Brand) للسنة الثاية على التوالي، في حين حصدت "فولفو XC60" حوائز "أفضل تقنيات السلامة "Best Safety Technology" عن "نظام دعم التوجيه" (Steering Support system) الخاص بها و"أفضل ملاحة عبر الأقمار الصناعية" (Sat-Nav) عن نظام "Sensus Navigation" و"أفضل السيارات أماناً" بفضل نتائج اختبار التصادم المذهلة لـ"البرنامج الأوروبي لتقييم السيارات الجديدة" (Euro NCAP).

وتُعلَن "جوائز تقنيات السيارات" الخاصة بـ"أفضل تكنولوجيا في السيارة" قد تم إطلاقها على مدى الأشهر الإثنتي عشر الماضية، إذ تتم عملية التصويت من قبل الخبراء من دليل مشتري السيارات "Carbuyer" وموقع التكنولجيا على شبكة الإنترنت " Alphr".
وقال ستيورت ميلن، رئيس تحرير "Carbuyer" في معرض تعليقه على تلك الجوائز "إن نجاح فولفو في جوائز تقنيات السيارات هو أمر جدير بالملاحظة. فإن الشركة حصدت لقب أفضل علامة تجارية في تقنيات السيارات للسنة الثانية على التوالي. لقد أُعجب الحكّام بالطريقة التي ترفض بها فولفو الاستغناء عن أمجادها، وتطوير سلسلة من المنتجات والفلسفات التي تبني عليها رؤية 2020، وهي أن لا أحد سوف يقتل أو يتعرض لإصابة خطيرة في فولفو الجديدة بحلول العام 2020".
وتابع "إن هذه الالتزامات تشمل وقف إنتاج السيارات التي تعمل بالبنزين والديزل فقط اعتباراً من العام 2019 – وهو برنامج مُعترف به من قبل الأمم المتحدة – فضلاً عن إطلاق نظام تفادي الحوادث عبر تسهيل الالتفاف بسرعة مفاجئة (evasive steering system) في سيارتها الجديدة XC60 ونسج علاقة وثيقة مع غوغل من أجل تطوير سيارات موصولة بشبكة الإنترنت بشكل أفضل. هذا، بالإضافة إلى التحسين المستمر والمتزايد في تقنية السيارات الجديدة التي يمكن لجميع العملاء التمتع بها".
وتأتي كل سيارة "XC60" مع تقنية "دعم التوجيه" (Steering Support) المبتكرة من "فولفو" كمعيار قياسي. وذلك، يوفر تلفائياً المساعدة في التوجيه في حالات الطوارئ من أجل تجنّب الاصطدامات المحتملة. وقد نال هذا النظام إعجاب أعضاء لجنة التحكيم بقولهم: ليس من المستغرب أن علامة تجارية مرتطبة ارتباطاً وثيقاً بالسلامة أن تفوز بجائزتنا لأفضل تكنولوجيات السلامة. إن نظام دعم التوجيه Steering Support الجديد هو نسخة مطوّرة عن نظام "سلامة المدينة" (City Safety). وفي الحالات التي لا يمكن للكبح وحده تفادي الاصطدام، فإنه بإمكان XC60 أن تتولى القيادة. ومع هذا النظام فإن فولفو تسعى إلى خفض 45 في المئة في حوادث التصادم الأمامية".
وفازت "XC60" بلقب "أفضل السيارات أماناً" بعد اجتيازها بامتياز اختبار التصادم الذي يجريه "البرنامج الأوروبي لتقييم السيارات الجديدة" (Euro NCAP)، حيث سجلت 89 في المئة في حماية الركاب البالغين و95 في المئة في ميزات المساعدة في مجالات السلامة.
كما حاز النظام الملاحي "Sensus Navigation" في "XC60" – الذي تم تركيبه كمعيار أساسي لكل نموذج - على إعجاب الحكّام أيضاً، معتبرين "أن عرضه هو نموذج للوضوح ويستخدم تصميم العلامة التجارية المذهل والفعال نفسه الذي سرعان ما أصبح مرادفاً لها. ومع ذلك، فإن الشكل لم يغلب على المضمون. فالشاشة الكبيرة تجعل الوجهات سهلة البرمجة، إضافة إلى وضوح المسارات بكفاءة ودقة. فالنظام برمّته هو سريع التجاوب وسهل الاستخدام ويشكل نموذجاً قائماً بحدّ ذاته.
من جهته، قال جون واكيفيلد، مدير عام "فولفو للسيارات" في المملكة المتحدة "إن الفوز بمثل هذه المجموعة الكبيرة من جوائز كار تك يبرز مدى اتساع وجودة صناعة التكنولجيا الرائد في سياراتنا. فالميزات المبتكرة قد صّممت لجعل حياة عملائنا أسهل وأكثر أماناً وأكثر متعة، وهذه الجوائز تثبت أننا نقوم بذلك على أكمل وجه".
