NMDC and Swan LNG Private collaborate to construct the first of its kind floating LNG port at Jafrabad


India_ 29/01/2017: His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nayan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, visited as Chief Guest to India's 68th Republic Day Celebration at New Delhi on 26th January 2017, has inaugurated commencement of development works of India's First FSRU based LNG Import Port at Jafrabad, Gujarat, which is being implemented by the National Marine Dredging Company, Abu Dhabi.
Taking the intent forward, India’s emerging energy entity, Swan LNG Private Ltd (SLPL), a subsidiary company of SWAN ENERGY LIMITED (a listed public company), awarded an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract to National Marine Dredging Company (NMDC), a national company of UAE.
The EPC contract is awarded for carrying out construction of the first floating LNG port at Jafrabad, Gujarat, India, USD 316 million. SLPL is developing India’s first all-weather Floating Storage & Regasification Unit (FSRU) based LNG import Terminal in Gujarat with an initial capacity of 5 MMTPA, expandable up to 20 MMTPA. The total capital outlay for this project is estimated to be USD 800 million.

The Indian arm of NMDC, National Marine & Infrastructure India Private Limited (NMIIPL) has already begun construction works with the project and targets to complete the project within three years.
