Ooredoo Wins Four Honours at CommsMEA Awards 2016

 ‘IPTV Service of the Year’; ‘Network Optimisation Award’ with Nokia; ‘CSR Campaign of the Year’ and ‘Telecoms Technology Investment of the Year Award’

Ooredoo enjoyed success at the CommsMEA Awards in Dubai last week, with Ooredoo companies winning four top honours including the “IPTV Service of the Year” for Qatar’s Ooredoo tv service; the “Network Optimization Award” for Ooredoo and Nokia’s inspiring initiative to enhance the Ooredoo Supernet in Qatar; and “Telecoms Technology Investment of the Year” for Ooredoo Oman’s commitment to providing quality coverage to meet the fast-evolving communications needs of the Sultanate.

In addition, Asiacell, part of Ooredoo Group, won the “CSR Campaign of the Year” jointly with Ericsson and the International Rescue Committee for their “Connect to Learn” project in Iraq.

The awards were presented to operators, regulators and other technology and service providers in recognition of their achievements in ensuring that the Middle East and Africa region stays at the frontier of digital innovation.

The ‘IPTV Service of the Year’ award honoured Ooredoo’s next generation Ooredoo tv service, which was the first 4K entertainment service to launch in the region.

The crystal-clear Ooredoo tv service was launched in February 2016 and was designed as an evolution in home entertainment services, combining apps, on-demand and live television in one easy-to-use box. Utilising the powerful fibre connection of Ooredoo’s Supernet, Ooredoo tv offers incredible 4K TV viewing quality, so that viewers can enjoy a high definition experience even on the largest screen.

For Ooredoo and Nokia, winning the inaugural “Network Optimization” award is an important testimony to the strength, speed and resilience of the Ooredoo Supernet, which the companies have worked together to upgrade throughout 2016. 

Under its Supernet initiative, one of the most significant network evolutions in Qatar’s history, Ooredoo partnered with Nokia to deploy it’s LTE-Advanced carrier aggregation technology to offer subscribers with compatible mobile devices up to 375 megabits-per-second speeds in busy areas of Doha.

Ooredoo and Nokia have also worked to deploy Nokia’s leading 2G, 3G, 4G, 4G+ LTE radio and core network technologies in 2016, so that Ooredoo can expand its Supernet experience across the country and deliver the highest speeds and quality to the growing number of data users.

Ooredoo Oman received the “Telecoms Technology Investment of the Year Award” for its on-going invest in mobile and fixed networks across the Sultanate. The company has invested significantly in enhancing our 4G Internet quality and coverage in 2016 and has enhanced its fibre optic network to span 5,500 km and cover more than 100,000 households.

Today, Ooredoo’s mobile network geographical coverage is high compared to other countries of a similar size, reaching out to 99% of the population to serve customers even in sparsely populated areas.

The “CSR Campaign of the Year” went to the “Connect to Learn” project, which aimed to support refugees and internally-displaced children attending schools in Domiz Refugee Camp, Iraq. It deployed a cloud-based ICT platform, Connect to Learn, made accessible on a 3G internet provided by Asiacell to support the professional development of teachers in schools for refugee children.

Through this technology, teachers have access to teacher training materials that have been developed or curated by the International Rescue Committee, which are aimed at helping teachers to create safe, quality learningenvironments.

In all, Ooredoo Group and its companies were nominated for 14 awards at the prestigious event, reflecting Ooredoo’s innovation in a range of fields, including network development, digital lifestyle, marketing and customer service.

Seventeen awards were presented at a gala dinner at the Conrad Hotel, Dubai, with around 200 ICT leaders and professionals in attendance. The 11th CommsMEA Awards attracted a strong field of nominations, reflecting the different ways communications technology is evolving.

حققت Ooredoo نجاحاً كبيراً في حفل الإعلان عن جوائز مجلة CommsMEA الذي أقيم الأسبوع الماضي بدبي. فقد تم تكريم شركات Ooredoo بأربع جوائز رفيعة المستوى وهي "أفضل خدمة تلفزيون عبر الإنترنت للعام" عن خدمتها Ooredoo tv، وبجائزة "أفضل تحديث للشبكة" وذلك لكل من Ooredoo ونوكيا عن مبادرتها لتعزيز شبكة Ooredoo سوبرنت في قطر، وجائزة "أفضل استثمار في مجال تكنولوجيا الاتصالات في الشرق الأوسط لعام 2016" التي فازت بها Ooredoo عُمان بالنظر لالتزامها بتوفير تغطية ذات جودة عالية لتلبية حاجات الاتصالات سريعة التطور للعملاء في السلطنة.

وبالإضافة إلى ذلك، فازت شركة آسياسل في العراق، وهي جزء من مجموعة Ooredoo، بجائزة "أفضل حملة مسؤولية اجتماعية للشركة" بالاشتراك مع إريكسون ولجنة الإنقاذ الدولية عن مشروع "الاتصال من أجل التعليم"  الذي نفذ في العراق.

وقد منحت جوائز CommsMEA إلى مشغلي خدمات اتصالات، وهيئات تنظيمية، ومقدمي تقنيات وخدمات آخرين تكريماً لما حققوه من أجل ضمان بقاء منطقة الشرق الأوسط وأفريقيا في صدارة الابتكارات الرقمية.

وكانت جائزة "أفضل خدمة تلفزيون عبر الإنترنت للعام تكريماً لخدمة Ooredoo tv التي تعتبر إحدى خدمات الجيل القادم، والتي تعتبر أول خدمة ترفيهية بتقنية 4K يتم إطلاقها في المنطقة.

فقد أعلن السيد/ وليد السيد، الرئيس التنفيذي لـ Ooredoo قطر، في فبراير 2016، عن إطلاق خدمة Ooredoo tv التي تتميز بالجودة الفائقة، وصممت الخدمة لتكون من أحدث التطورات في خدمات الترفيه المنزلي، وتجميع بين التطبيقات والبث التلفزيوني المباشر والبث حسب الطلب في جهاز استقبال واحد سهل الاستخدام. وتوفر خدمة Ooredoo tv جودة عرض بتقنية 4K لا مثيل لها مستفيدة من شبكة الألياف الضوئية القوية عبر شبكة  Ooredoo سوبرنت، بحيث يتمكن المشاهدون من الاستمتاع بتجربة مشاهدة عالية الوضوح حتى على أكبر الشاشات حجماً.

أما بالنسبة لكل من Ooredoo ونوكيا، فقد كان الفوز بجائزة "أفضل تحديث للشبكة" بمثابة شهادة مهمة على قوة وسرعة ومرونة شبكة Ooredoo  

سوبرنت، والتي عملت الشركات على تحديثها خلال 2016.

وفي إطار مبادرة شبكة Ooredoo سوبرنت، والتي تعتبر أحد أهم تطور لشبكات الاتصالات في تاريخ قطـــر، اشتركت Ooredoo مع نوكيا في استخدام تقنية تجميع ناقلات لشبكة LTE المتطورة، لتتمكن من تزويد عملائها بأجهزة اتصالات جوالة متوافقة مع سرعات تصل إلى 375 ميغابت بالثانية في المناطق المزدحمة في الدوحة.

كما تعاونت Ooredoo ونوكيا بهدف توسيع استخدام تقنيات 2G و3G و4G و4G+ LTE اللاسلكية، وتقنيات الشبكات الأساسية خلال 2016، بحيث تتمكن Ooredoo من توسيع نطاق استخدام شبكتها سوبرنت في مختلف مناطق قطر، ولتوفر أعلى سرعات وأفضل جودة للأعداد المتزايدة من مستخدمي البيانات.

كما حصلت Ooredoo عُمان على جائزة "أفضل استثمار في مجال تكنولوجيا الاتصالات في الشرق الأوسط لعام 2016" وذلك تكريماً لاستثمارها المستمرة في شبكات الاتصالات الجوالة والثابتة في أنحاء السلطنة. فقد استثمرت الشركة الكثير في تطوير جودة وتغطية خدمة الإنترنت عبر شبكة 4G خلال 2016، وقامت بتعزيز شبكتها للألياف الضوئية بحيث أصبحت تمتد مسافة 5,500 كم، وتغطي أكثر من 100,000 منزل في السلطنة.

الجدير بالذكر أن تغطية شبكة  Ooredooالجغرافية تعد كبيرة بالمقارنة بالدول التي توازيها حجما، حيث تغطي الشبكة حاليا 99% من الكثافة السكانية في السلطنة وتتوفر حتى في المناطق عداد السكان فيها قليلة.

وحصل برنامج "الإتصال من أجل التعليم" على جائزة أفضل حملة مسؤولية اجتماعية للعام"، ويهدف المشروع إلى دعم الأطفال اللاجئين والنازحين للالتحاق بالمدارس في مخيم دوميز للاجئين في العراق. واستخدم البرنامج نظام اتصالات وتكنولوجيا معلومات يعتمد على الحوسبة السحابية، فقد توفر برنامج "الإتصال من أجل التعليم" عبر الإنترنت من خلال شبكة 3G التي توفرها شركة آسياسل لدعم التنمية المهنية للمدرسين في مدارس الأطفال من اللاجئين.

وتوفرت للمدرسين من خلال استخدام هذه التكنولوجيا القدرة على الوصول إلى مواد تدريبية طورتها لجنة الإنقاذ الدولية، التي تهدف لمساعدة المدرسين على إيجاد بيئة تعليمية آمنة تتميز بجودة التعليم.وكانت مجموعة Ooredoo وشركاتها قد رشحت للحصول على 14 جائزة في حفل جوائز CommsMEA مما يعكس مستوى الابتكارات في Ooredoo في العديد من المجالات، بما في ذلك تطوير الشبكات، والحياة الرقمية، والتسويق، وخدمة العملاء.

وقد تضمن حفل جوائز CommsMEA تقديم 17 جائزة في حفل عشاء كبير أقيم في فندق كونراد بدبي، بحضور أكثر من 200 من كبار المسؤولين في قطاع الاتصالات وتكنولوجيا المعلومات في المنطقة. وقد ترشح للفوز بجوائز CommsMEA الحادي عشرة مجموعة كبيرة من أقوى العاملين في هذا المجال، مما يعكس تعدد الطرق التي تستخدمها تقنيات الاتصالات لتخطو خطوات واسعة نحو تحقيق تطور شامل في هذا الميدان.
