Cairo, November 22nd, 2016 -- Effective today, Careem has officially extended its operations to the city of Damanhoor. The move was made as a natural extension to Careem’s current operations in Alexandria, benefitting thousands of commuters on their daily travels between Alexandria and Damanhoor.
“Our extension of operations into Damanhoor is both timely and necessary, particularly since we noted that more than 10,000 Egyptians commute on a daily basis between Alexandria and Damanhoor,” stated Wael Fakharany, Managing Director of Careem Egypt and Careem’s Global Senior Vice President of Government Relations; “Commuters deserve a comfortable, safe, and affordable ride, which we are more than happy to offer, based on their demand.”
In celebration of the new extension, Careem has also released a special promocode - DAMANHOOR - which offers Damanhoor residents two free rides at up to EGP 20 each, allowing those new to Careem to try out the service.
Careem now operates in 5 Egyptian cities -- Cairo, Alexandria, and Damanhoor, as well as the North Coast and Hurghada during the summer months. “Every day, we try to sync with the Egyptian people, and serve their needs with new additions to our operations, ” says Hadeer Shalaby, Careem’s General Manager; “The extension not only meets customer demand, but also coincides with the company’s philosophy — by extending operations, we’ve also opened the door to thousands of job opportunities for Egyptians,” she says.
Through recruiting more Captains to meet rising demand, Careem offers stable income to thousands of families, and allows drivers to work on their own vehicles, in their own time.
