Bürgenstock Resort on track for 2017 summer opening

Bürgenstock Resort is the largest fully-integrated development project in Switzerland with an investment of over CHF 500 million.  A unique, holistic, future-oriented resort located 500m above Lake Lucerne on 60 hectares of natural beauty. 



Opening summer 2017, the Bürgenstock Resort will generate an annual gross value-added of CHF 140 million in central Switzerland according to a BAK Basel study, and will directly and indirectly create jobs for 1,100 people.

Built with sustainability at its heart the Bürgenstock Resort is CO2 neutral with energy from lake water covering 70-90% of the resort’s heating & cooling requirements. Reforestation has been a priority, with over 4,360 sqm of mixed forest planted, and stone baskets have been used instead of concrete walls to encourage flora and fauna habitat.

The Bürgenstock Resort will offer the largest array of leisure activities in one resort in central Switzerland including a 9-hole golf course; 2 indoor and 1 outdoor tennis courts of Davis Cup standard; 70 km hiking and biking trails; horse stable and petting zoo plus skating rink for the winter season.  Cultural activities include a hotel museum as well as regular arts and cultural events for guests and the local community.


The resort itself comprises 3 hotels: Bürgenstock, 5-star superior with 102 rooms and suites; Palace, 4-star superior with 108 rooms and the Waldhotel for Healthy Living with 160 rooms.  The Bürgenstock Residences and Suites consist of Panorama with 28 residence suites of flexible floor plans from 126 sqm to 321 sqm, all with south facing terrace with mountain and valley view.  The 29 Grand Residence Suites are located in the former Grand Hotel and vary in size from 55 sqm to 445 sqm.  The 10 Lakeview Residence private villas of 538 sqm to 814 sqm offer privacy and breathtaking views over the lake and mountains.  A modern 4,000 sqm conference center equipped with the latest technology offers spacious meeting points designed to provide an outstanding framework for successful events.

The 10,000 sqm alpine Bürgenstock Spa features 3 pools, 15 treatment rooms, 3 private spas and alpine sauna landscape.

The complete resort extends roughly 1 km from one end to the other and is a car-free zone with a total of 383 rooms and suites, 68 residences and 12 restaurants, bars and lounges.

The resort will be represented at Arabian Travel Market 2016 on Stand HC 0850 (Katara Hospitality) and EU 6220 (Switzerland Tourism)
