UAE Suqia is Exclusive Sponsor of the State of Sustainability Report — UAE 2016

 


Dubai, UAE, 29 February 2016: HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the UAE Water Aid Foundation (UAE Suqia), has announced that Suqia is the exclusive sponsor of the State of Sustainability Report – UAE 2016. Al Tayer reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to sustainability and addressing these issues locally and internationally.
According to Al Tayer, the efforts of the UAE continue to play a major role in supporting and enhancing sustainable development, in addition to other renewable energy initiatives: “UAE Suqia’s sponsorship of the State of Sustainability Report — UAE 2016,’ is an important step towards achieving sustainable development. The report features an extensive analysis of environmental efficiency procedures within the UAE. The current goal is to work on developing these procedures to achieve objectives within the next 15 years,” said Al Tayer.
The Dubai Carbon Centre of Excellence launched the State of Sustainability Report — UAE 2016 in partnership with the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (formerly known as the Ministry of International Cooperation and Development), and in association with the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Authority (FCSA), during the World Government Summit, held on 8-10 February.
The report was launched in participation with HE Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, HE Abdulla Nasser Lootah, Secretary General of the Emirates Competitiveness Council, HE Najla Al Kaabi, Assistant Undersecretary for International Cooperation, Waleed Salman, Chairman of the Dubai Carbon Centre of Excellence, and Mohammed Abdulkareem Al Shamsi, Acting Executive Director of Suqia.
“UAE Suqia falls under the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives. It is the exclusive sponsor of the State of Sustainability Report — UAE 2016. UAE Suqia’s sponsorship of the report supports the directives of our wise leadership, headed by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to support sustainable development in the UAE. The Foundation is supporting sustainable development for all mankind by creating and supporting different initiatives and humanitarian aid campaigns, in line with its commitment to enhance the UAE’s international position, and to improve the living conditions of poor and disaster-stricken areas, as well as support international efforts to provide clean drinking water, as defined by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum,” said Al Tayer.
“UAE Suqia cooperates with different government, federal, and local organisations to support sustainable development and to broaden the UAE’s role in achieving the new UN Sustainable Development Goals, which are aimed at eradicating poverty, protecting the planet, and ensuring prosperity for all. UAE Suqia has greatly developed its role in supporting international efforts to provide drinking water through its strong presence in critical areas, as well as by providing emergency, and long-term aid around the world,” said Mohammed Abdulkareem Al Shamsi, Acting Executive Director of Suqia.
The State of Sustainability Report — UAE 2016 is the first in a series of annual publications that will serve as a tool for analysis and communication with stakeholders and partners to support and enhance future reports and reporting requirements. The report is expected to become a platform for highlighting progress, solutions, and success stories in the sustainable development of the economy, society and the environment. The report also shows the UAE’s contribution towards achieving sustainable goals and the development of other countries. The publication also highlights the progress made by the public and private sectors in achieving the 17 goals for sustainable development, adopted by the UN during the World Summit on Sustainable Development.
 
مؤسسة "سقيا الإمارات" راعي حصري لتقرير "حالة الاستدامة: الإمارات 2016"
 دبي، الإمارات العربية المتحدة، 29 فبراير 2016: أكد سعادة سعيد محمد الطاير رئيس مجلس الأمناء مؤسسة سقيا الإمارات، التزام دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة بقضايا الاستدامة والاهتمام بها على الصعيدين الوطني والدولي، ومواصلة جهودها في لعب دورٍ أساسي ومحوري في دعم وتعزيز مبادرات التنمية المستدامة والطاقة النظيفة، موضحاً أن رعاية مؤسسة سقيا الإمارات لتقريرحالة الاستدامة: الإمارات 2016‘ تعتبر بمثابة خطوة مهمة في تحقيق التنمية المستدامة، حيث يوفر التقرير تحليلاً عميقاً لتدابير الكفاءة البيئية التي يجري تنفيذها في الدولة، ومنوهاً إلى أن الأهداف ستتركز الآن في العمل لتحقيق هذه الأهداف على مدار الأعوام الـ 15 المقبلة.
وقد أطلق التقرير بالشراكة  بين وزارة الخارجية والتعاون الدولي (وزارة التنمية والتعاون الدولي سابقاً) ومركز دبي المتميز لضبط الكربون بالتعاون مع وزارة الخارجية والتعاون الدولي (وزارة الخارجية سابقاً)، والهيئة الاتحادية للتنافسية والإحصاء، وبرعاية حصرية من مؤسسة سقيا الإمارات، وذلك أثناء انعقاد القمة العالمية للحكومات في الفترة 8-10 فبراير، بحضور معالي / الدكتور ثاني الزيودي، وزير البيئة والتغير المناخي، وسعادة / عبدالله ناصر لوتاه، الأمين العام لهيئة الامارات للتنافسية والإحصاء، وسعادة / نجلاء الكعبي، وكيل الوزارة المساعد للتعاون الدولي، والمهندس / وليد سلمان، رئيس مجلس إدارة مركز دبي المتميز لضبط الكربون، ومحمد عبدالكريم الشامسي، المدير التنفيذي بالوكالة لمؤسسة "سقيا الإمارات".
وقال سعادة/سعيد محمد الطاير: " قامت مؤسسة "سقيا الإمارات"، التي تعمل تحت مظلة "مؤسسة مبادرات محمد بن راشد آل مكتوم العالمية"، برعاية حصرية لتقرير "حالة الاستدامة: الإمارات 2016"، استجابة لتوجيهات القيادة الرشيدة وعلى رأسها  سيدي صاحب السمو الشيخ خليفة بن زايد آل نهيان رئيس الدولة "حفظه الله" وسيدي صاحب السمو الشيخ محمد بن راشد آل مكتوم نائب رئيس الدولة رئيس مجلس الوزراء حاكم دبي "رعاه الله" في دعم مسيرة التنمية المستدامة في الدولة. وتحرص المؤسسة على طرح ودعم مختلف المبادرات والمساعدات الانسانية لتحقيق التنمية المستدامة للبشرية جمعاء، بما ينسجم مع الدور السامي لإنشاء المؤسسة من قبل صاحب السمو الشيخ محمد بن راشد آل مكتوم، رعاه الله، لتعزيز مكانة دولة الإمارات عالمياً لتحسين الظروف المعيشية للمجتمعات الفقيرة والمنكوبة، ومشاركة الجهود الدولية في توفير المياه الصالحة للشرب والنظيفة."
من جانبه، قال محمد عبد الكريم الشامسي، المدير التنفيذي بالوكالة لمؤسسة "سقيا الإمارات:" "تحرص مؤسسة "سقيا الإمارات" على التعاون مع مختلف الجهات الحكومية والاتحادية والمحلية لدعم التنمية المستدامة وترسيخ دور دولة الإمارات في إيجاد الحلول لتحقيق أهداف الأمم المتحدة للتنمية المستدامة الجديدة لإنهاء الفقر وحماية الأرض وضمان الازدهار للجميع. وقد عززت مؤسسة "سقيا الإمارات" دورها كمؤسسة فاعلة في دعم الجهود الدولية في توفير المياه الصالحة للشرب عبر تقديمها للمساعدات الإنسانية والإغاثة الطارئة وطويلة الأمد في كافة مناطق دول العالم."
ويعتبر تقرير "حالة الاستدامة: الإمارات 2016"، التقرير الأول ضمن سلسلة تقارير سنوية، وسيكون بمثابة أداة للمشاركة والتحليل والتواصل مع أصحاب المصلحة والشركاء المكملين لدعم متطلبات التقارير الرسمية. ومن المتوقع أن يصبح هذا التقرير منصة لنشر وعكس التقدم والحلول وقصص النجاح في مجال التنمية الاقتصادية والاجتماعية والبيئية المستدامة في الدولة، بالإضافة إلى توضيح مساهمة الدولة في تحقيق الأهداف والتنمية المستدامة لدول العالم الأخرى. كما يسلط التقرير الضوء على التقدم الذي أحرزه القطاعان العام والخاص في الدولة من حيث تحقيق أهداف التنمية المستدامة الـ 17 التي اعتمدتها الأمم المتحدة في إطار قمتها العالمية للتنمية المستدامة، والجهود المبذولة لنشر تدابير الاستدامة.
