Waldorf Astoria named overall Arabia region winner in hotel category as leading UAE developer recognised for its RAK portfolio of residential, retail and hospitality developments
Al Hamra Real Estate Development (AHRED) has been recognised at the annual International Property Awards, picking up its 11th award in three years for the developer’s hospitality portfolio flagship - the Waldorf Astoria - which was named Overall (Arabia) Regional Winner in the 2015 Hotel Architecture category.
Ras Al Khaimah’s largest developer collected the award at a glittering gala ceremony, held in London on 7th December 2015.
“To be recognised yet again for another of our high profile projects, is testimony to Al Hamra’s capabilities to design and deliver innovative projects. It clearly demonstrates our commitment to developing world-class destinations that continually raise the bar in terms of design, function and commercial appeal,” said Benoy Kurien, General Manager, AHRED.
Sponsored by Emirates Airline and judged by an independent panel of 70 industry experts, the awards follow a strict set of criteria encompassing aspects of design, innovation and originality. This year’s awards were overseen by panel chair Lord Caithness and Lord Best, members of the UK House of Lords.
“Al Hamra was up against more than 490 entries from 75 countries in the architecture category, so to win this accolade is not only a huge honour but also sets us apart as a developer that delivers against the most stringent criteria on the international stage,” said Kurien.
In this year’s Arabian Property Awards, the precursor to the International Property Awards, Al Hamra was recognised in five other categories.
The top award for the ‘Mixed-Use Architecture’ category was bestowed upon Al Hamra’s flagship development, the one billion dollar Falcon Island project, located next to Waldorf Astoria. Launched in 2014 and due for handover in 2017, the 2.2 million-square-foot island project is located within the natural lagoon that forms part of the Al Hamra Village complex and comprises a collection of just 150 luxurious five to eight-bedroom Canal, Beach and Park residences.
The Falcon Island win was closely followed by a ‘Retail Architecture’ category award for its Manar Mall, shopping complex, which is currently under an impressive renovation and expansion plan. Next in line were two awards for its popular Al Hamra Village community, which bagged the ‘Architecture Multiple Residence’ and ‘Golf Development’ categories.
The final award was given to Royal Breeze Residence, which scooped the ‘Residential High-Rise Development’ category award. The development offers a shoreline lifestyle spread across five residential towers with apartments and penthouses offering 42 up to 670-square metres of space, complemented by stunning Arabian Gulf or scenic golf course views.
Commenting on the quality of entries, which came from 12 countries across the region, Stuart Shield, President of the International Property Awards, said: “Once again, Arabian developers have excelled in this competition by entering a select number of simply stunning developments. These projects are architecturally innovative, aesthetically beautiful, highly functional, eco-friendly and feature state-of-the-art technology.”

والدورف استوريا يفوز بالجائزة الرئيسية لفئة الفنادق في العالم العربي مع تكريم شركة التطوير العقاري الاماراتية الرائدة على مشاريعها في رأس الخيمة من المشاريع السكنية والتجارية والفندقية
تم تكريم شركة الحمرا للتطوير العقاري في حفل الجوائز العقارية الدولية السنوية حيث نالت جائزتها الحادية عشرة خلال ثلاث سنوات على مشروعها الفندقي القيادي والدورف استوريا الذي فاز بلقب الفائز الاقليمي الكلي في العالم العربي في فئة التصميم المعماري الفندقي لعام 2015.
واستلم مسؤولو الشركة التي تعتبر اكبر مطور عقاري في رأس الخيمة خلال حفل كبير اقيم في لندن في 7 ديسمبر 2015.
وقال بينوي كورين مدير عام الشركة:" تكريمنا بجائزة أخرى على مشاريعنا الرفيعة المستوى هو تقدير واعتراف بقدرات شركة الحمرا للتطوير العقاري في تصميم وتنفيذ مشروعات مبتكرة، كما ان ذلك يدل بوضوح على التزامنا بتطوير وجهات سياحية عالمية ترفع باستمرار من المستوى النوعي على مستوى التصميم والاستخدام العملي والجاذبية التجارية".
وهذه الجوائز التي ترعاها طيران الإمارات وتصدر نتائجها عن لجنة تحكيم مكونة من 70 خبيرا متخصصا تتبع قواعد صارمة تشمل جوانب التصميم والابتكار والاصالة. وأشرف على جوائز هذا العام رئيس لجنة التحكيم اللورد كيثنيس واللورد بست، عضوا مجلس اللوردات البريطاني.
وقال كورين:" تنافست شركة الحمرا مع 490 مشاركا من 75 دولة في فئة التصميم المعماري، وبالتالي فإن الفوز بهذا التكريم المرموق ليس شرفا عظيما وحسب وإنما يجعلنا مميزين كشركة تطوير عقاري تلبي اكثر المعايير صرامة على المسرح الدولي".
وفي الجوائز العقارية العربية هذا العام التي سبقت الجوائز العقارية الدولية، فازت شركة الحمرا بخمس فئات أخرى.
وذهبت الجائزة الكبرى لفئة "التصميم المعماري المختلط الاستخدام" الى مشروع الحمراء الريادي متمثلا بمشروع جزيرة الصقر الذي تبلغ تكاليفه مليار دولار الذي أطلق عام 2014 ومن المقرر إنجازه عام 2017. ويقع مشروع الجزيرة الذي تبلغ مساحتها 2.2 مليون قدم مربعة في بحيرة طبيعية تشكل جزءا من مجمع قرية الحمرا وتتضمن تشكيلة من 150 منزلا فخما تتألف من خمس الى ثمان غرفة نوم تنقسم الى منازل القنال والشاطئ والمنتزه.
وفاز مجمع مركز تسوق المنار بفئة "تصميم التجزئة" ثم تبع ذلك جائزتين لمجمع قرية الحمرا عن فئة "السكن المعماري المتعدد" وفئة "مشروع الجولف".
وذهبت الجائزة الأخيرة الى "رويال بريز ريزيدانس" الذي حصد الجائزة عن فئة "مشروع البرج السكني". ويوفر هذا المشروع نمط حياة مطل على البحر عبر خمسة أبراج سكنية مكونة من شقق وبنتهاوسات تتراوح مساحتها بين 42 متر مربع و670 متر مربع مطلة إما على الخليج العربي او ملعب الجولف بحدائقه الغنّاء.
وفي تعليقه على جودة المشاركات التي جاءت من 12 بلدا في المنطقة، قال ستيوارت شيلد رئيس الجوائز العقارية الدولية: "مرة أخرى تميزت شركات التطوير العربية في هذه المنافسة بالمشاركة بعدد محدود من المشروعات التي لا يمكن وصفها الا بأنها مدهشة. فهذه المشاريع تتمتع بالابتكار المعماري والجمال الهندسي والمرونة العملية العالية ومراعاة البيئة والتكنولوجيا المتقدمة".
