Conference to throw spotlight on
financial sector’s role in sustainable projects
United Arab Emirates, November 10, 2015 – The Emirates Green Development Council will
host high-level national meeting on sustainable finance with the aim of
defining the development and implementation of the UAE Green Growth Strategy
from November 11 to 12, 2015 at The H Hotel in Dubai. Organized in
collaboration with the UAE Central Bank, the Insurance Authority, the
Securities & Commodities Authority (SCA), Dubai Financial Services
Authority (DFSA), and the United Nations Environment Program Finance Initiative
(UNEP FI), the conference will highlight the important role of the financial
sector and investment in green projects and encourage broader participation.
The seminar is part of the preparations for
hosting the 14th Meeting of the Global Roundtable, in cooperation with the UNEP
FI under the theme ‘Islamic Finance in the Context of Green Economy and
Sustainable Development’ which will be held in Dubai in 2016. To be held under
the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of
Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, the meeting will ensure
positive interaction and participation of the country’s financial sector.
The conference, which will be attended by a
group of international experts, aims to assess the current situation as well as
future investment opportunities in green projects. This will enable them to
bring systemic change in the funding areas of sustainable development sector
through the presentation of the results of the questionnaire "to assess the
current status and future prospects of the financial sector to finance green
investments" supervised by the Board of Emirates Green development.
The agenda for the first day includes a
welcome Note by H.E. Dr. Rashid Ahmad bin Fahad, UAE Minister of Environment
and Water. The UAE President Council calls for seminars on green development to
highlight the concept and importance of green financing as well as assess the
current situation in green investments at the national and international
levels. The Council will organize detailed workshops for the banking sector on
the second day in the green axes and funding by a group of experts from the
UNEP FI in the key areas of innovation in green financing.

"الاجتماع الوطني
رفيع المستوى في مجال دعم وتمويل المشاريع الخضراء" يعقد اليوم في دبي
الإمارات، 10 نوفمبر 2015 - ينظم مجلس الامارات للتنمية الخضراء "الاجتماع
الوطني رفيع المستوى بمجال دعم وتمويل المشاريع الخضراء" بالتعاون مع مصرف
الإمارات العربية المتحدة المركزي، وهيئة التأمين، وهيئة الأوراق المالية والسلع،
وسلطة دبي للخدمات المالية، والمبادرة المالية لبرنامج الأمم المتحدة للبيئة، بهدف
التعريف باستراتيجية الإمارات للتنمية الخضراء وآلية تنفيذها، والدور المهم لقطاع
المال والاستثمار في هذا المجال، وتحفيزه على المشاركة بصورة أوسع في دعم وتمويل
المشاريع الخضراء.
ويأتي
ذلك في إطار تحضيرات الدولة لاستضافة الاجتماع الرابع عشر من اجتماعات الطاولة
المستديرة العالمية تحت شعار "التمويل الاسلامي في سياق الاقتصاد الاخضر و
التنمية المستدامة" بالتعاون مع المبادرة المالية لبرنامج الأمم المتحدة
للبيئة الذي سيعقد في عام 2016 بإمارة دبي، برعاية كريمة من سمو الشيخ حمدان بن
محمد آل مكتوم- ولي عهد دبي - رئيس المجلس التنفيذي. وذلك لضمان تفاعل و مشاركة إيجابية للقطاع المالي بالدولة. وقد تقرر تنظيم
الاجتماع الوطني رفيع المستوى بمجال دعم وتمويل المشاريع الخضراء بدولة الامارات
العربية المتحدة و الذي سينعقد في الفترة
11-12 نوفمبر الجاري في فندق ( The
H hotel) بإمارة
دبي.
ويهدف
الاجتماع، الذي يشارك فيه نخبة من الخبراء العالميين، إلى تقييم الوضع الحالي و
التعريف بالفرص المستقبلية للاستثمار في المشاريع الخضراء بغية إحداث تغيير منهجي
في قطاع تمويل مجالات التنمية المستدامة من خلال عرض نتائج الاستبيان "تقييم
الوضع الحالي والتطلعات المستقبلية للقطاع المالي في تمويل الاستثمارات
الخضراء" الذي أشرف عليه مجلس
الإمارات للتنمية الخضراء.
ويتضمن برنامج العمل للاجتماع في يومه الاول الكلمة الترحيبية
من معالي الدكتور راشد أحمد بن فهد وزير البيئة والمياه رئيس مجلس الامارات للتنمية
الخضراء و حلقات نقاشية في مفهوم و أهمية
التمويل الاخضر و تقييم الوضع الحالي في تمويل الاستثمارات الخضراء على
المستويين الوطني و العالمي ، و يشرف المجلس على عقد ورش عمل تفصيلية للقطاع
البنكي في اليوم الثاني ضمن محاور التمويل الاخضر و التي يقدمها نخبة من الخبراء
من المبادرة المالية العالمية لبرنامج الامم المتحدة للبيئة في مجالات عدة من
ابرزها الابتكار في التمويل الاخضر.
