The MoU is one of a series of initiatives from DSG in solidarity with UAE Innovation Week
UAE, November 23, 2015 - Dubai Smart Government Department (DSG) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with MIT Connection Science Group (MITCSG) & Analytics Center (AC) during Smartcon Dubai 2015, as part of a series of initiatives from DSG in participation and solidarity with the ‘UAE Innovation Week’ held from 22nd to 28th November, under the patronage of HH Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed, President of the UAE and launched by HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
The MoU was signed at Smartcon Dubai 2015, a prestigious conference being conducted by MITCSG & AC, which brings together the world’s greatest thinkers and practitioners on Big Data, Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence & Advanced Analytics. The conference was held on the 23rd and 24th of November at Jumeirah Beach Hotel and Dubai Smart Government was proud to be the patron sponsor and strategic partner.
Commenting on the MoU during the signing ceremony at Jumeirah Beach Hotel, H.E. Ahmad Bin Humaidan, DSG Director General, said: “We are pleased to sign this MoU and collaborate with such distinguished partners as MITSCG & AC; so that together we can be aligned with Dubai Smart Government’s strategy, objectives and challenges; and conduct joint academic research on big data, innovation in smart city living and IoT all with the objective of making Dubai the smartest, most innovative and happiest city in the world, in accordance with the desires of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum.”
Bin Humaidan added: "Signing this MoU demonstrates our commitment to innovation by working with world class and leading academics from MIT, to get deep insights into leveraging technology and human networks to design and implement tools to create a happy society to live in a smart city such as Dubai. The MoU will complement and contribute to our strategic mission which is to formulate and implement policies and initiatives for innovative and smart ICT usage contributing to economic welfare, social progress and global competitiveness of Dubai.”
Meanwhile, Prof. Alex Pentland, Faculty Director of MITCSG said: I look forward to discussions with Dubai Smart Government because together we have the possibility of creating a happier, more productive, and more creative city society by better understanding the social ties and relationships that make up the society, and then crafting ICT policies and architectures which build off of and leverage this social fabric.”
On his part, Caglar Gogus, Managing Director of Analytics Center and Co-Founder of the Smartcon Conference said: “We have been following the significant innovation drive in the UAE and vision of HH Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed, President of the UAE and HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, with great admiration. The signing of the MoU was preceded with a keynote address by H.E Ahmad Bin Humaidan, DSG’s Director General. Following the MoU, DSG’s Assistant Director General, Wesam Lootah took part in a panel discussion entitled ‘Big Ideas for Smart Governments’ which discussed the transformational impact of big data on the public sector and how the digitization of government services could have value creation for Dubai.
Other than the MoU, and DSG’s patronage of SmartCon Dubai 2015, DSG also conducted a series of public and private events to create awareness of its innovative smart services and to bolster support and solidarity with the UAE Innovation Week. This included the setting up of a Customer Experience Lab (CX Lab) at Mirdif City Centre for testing user experiences on some of DSG’s smart services such as Dubai Now, mJobs and MyID; with a special focus on those with special needs or the disabled. It also conducted 2 workshops for government employees on DSG’s strategy and Big Data Personalization; a public workshop on information security, a LinkedIn group within Dubai Government to exchange best practices on innovation and a social media smart QA session.

مذكرة التفاهم هي واحدة من سلسلة مبادرات قدمتها حكومة دبي الذكية خلال مشاركتها في "أسبوع الإمارات للابتكار
الإمارات، 23 نوفمبر، 2015 - وقعت حكومة دبي الذكية مذكرة تفاهم مع "أم. آي. تي. كونيكشن ساينس غروب" (MITCSG) ومركز التحليلات (Analytics Center) وذلك خلال فعاليات مؤتمر "سمارت كون دبي 2015" (Smartcon Dubai 2015)، حيث تأتي مذكرة التفاهم في إطار سلسلة المبادرات التي تقدمها حكومة دبي الذكية خلال مشاركتها في "أسبوع الإمارات للابتكار" (UAE Innovation Week)، المقام خلال الفترة من 22 إلى 28 نوفمبر الجاري تحت رعاية صاحب السمو الشيخ خليفة بن زايد آل نهيان رئيس الدولة "حفظه الله"، والذي أطلقه صاحب السمو الشيخ محمد بن راشد آل مكتوم، نائب رئيس الدولة رئيس مجلس الوزراء حاكم دبي "رعاه الله".
وتم توقيع مذكرة التفاهم خلال مؤتمر "سمارت كون دبي 2015"، وهو أحد المؤتمرات المرموقة الذي تقيمه "أم. آي. تي. كونيكشن ساينس غروب" ومركز التحليلات ويستقطب كبار المفكرين والمختصين على مستوى العالم في مجال البيانات الضخمة وإنترنت الأشياء والذكاء الاصطناعي والتحليلات المتقدمة. وعقد المؤتمر في الفترة من 23 إلى 24 من نوفمبر في فندق "جميرا بيتش"، حيث شاركت حكومة دبي الذكية فيه بصفة الراعي الرئيس والشريك الاستراتيجي.
وقال سعادة أحمد بن حميدان، مدير عام دائرة حكومة دبي الذكية، في إطار تعليقه على مذكرة التفاهم أثناء مراسم التوقيع بفندق "جميرا بيتش": "نحن نؤكد التزامنا بالوصول لمدينة ذكية، قائمة على الابتكار والإبداع من خلال توقيع هذه المذكرة وبتعاوننا مع شركاء مميزين مثل "أم. آي. تي. كونيكشن ساينس غروب" ومركز التحليلات، وبالتماشي مع استراتيجية حكومة دبي الذكية وأهدافها الرامية إلى إسعاد المتعاملين بابتكار خدمات ذكية مترابطة وفقاً لأحدث التقنيات وأفضل الممارسات العالمية، بالاستفادة من البحوث الأكاديمية المشتركة حول البيانات الضخمة وتوظيفها، بالإضافة إلى الابتكار في مجال تطوير خدمات الحكومية الذكية فضلاً عن إنترنت الأشياء، كل ذلك بهدف جعل دبي المدينة الأكثر ذكاءً وابتكاراً وسعادة على مستوى العالم، وبما يتماشى مع توجيهات وطموحات صاحب السمو الشيخ محمد بن راشد آل مكتوم "رعاه الله".
وأضاف بن حميدان: "نؤكد من خلال توقيعنا لهذه المذكرة على رغبتنا في العمل مع كبار الأكاديميين على مستوى العالم من معهد ماساتشوستس، من أجل اكتساب معارف وأفكار معمقة حول سبل الاستفادة من التكنولوجيا والشبكات البشرية من أجل تصميم الأدوات والاستفادة منها في تأسيس مجتمع سعيد ينعم بالعيش في مدينة ذكية كدبي. وستساهم مذكرة التفاهم في استكمال مهمتنا الاستراتيجية والتي تهدف إلى صياغة وتنفيذ السياسات والمبادرات من أجل الاستخدام المبتكر والذكي للاتصالات وتكنولوجيا المعلومات بما يسهم في تعزيز الرفاه الاقتصادي والتقدم الاجتماعي والتنافسية العالمية لدبي".
من جانبه، قال أليكس بنتلاند، مدير هيئة التدريس في "أم. آي. تي. كونيكشن ساينس غروب": "أتطلع إلى إجراء مناقشات مع حكومة دبي الذكية، لأنه معاً يمكننا أن نؤسس لمجتمع أكثر سعادة وإنتاجية وإبداعاً من خلال الفهم الأفضل للروابط المجتمعية والعلاقات التي تؤسس المجتمع. ومن ثم صياغة سياسات تكنولوجيا المعلومات والاتصالات التي تضيف مزيداً من التطور وتعزز من النسيج الاجتماعي".
وقال كاجلار غوغوس، مدير عام مركز التحليلات والمؤسس المشارك لمؤتمر "سمارت كون": "نتابع حملة الابتكار المهمة في دولة الإمارات ورؤية صاحب السمو الشيخ خليفة بن زايد، رئيس الدولة، وصاحب السمو الشيخ محمد بن راشد آل مكتوم، نائب رئيس الدولة ورئيس مجلس الوزراء وحاكم دبي، بإعجابِ وتقدير شديدين. ونحن نعتقد أن استراتجية الابتكار الوطنية لن تقتصر على تمكين الحكومة من أن تصبح مثالاً رائداً عالمياً في تطبيق ممارسات الابتكار فحسب، بل ستعزز أيضًا من مكانة الدولة كمركز للابداع ووجهة جاذبة للشركات والأفراد المبدعين من أنحاء العالم".
وأضاف غوغوس:"كوننا شركة لها رسالة واضحة تهدف إلى دعم المنظومة الكاملة للتقنيات الجديدة وعالية الكفاءة للبيانات الضخمة وإنترنت الأشياء والتحليلات المتطورة. ونؤمن أن مثل هذه القدرات سوف تكون عاملاً مهماً في النقلة النوعية المقبلة لدولة الإمارات، كما ندرك أن تعاوننا مع حكومة دبي الذكية يعد مؤشراً على التزامنا بهذه المسألة. ويتولى مركزنا تقديم التدريب والمشورة بشأن التكنولوجيات الناشئة والبيانات الضخمة والابتكار، كما نقوم بتنظيم القمم الاستراتيجية في المراكز المهمة على مستوى العالم تحت علامة "سمارت كون".
وقد أقامت حكومة دبي الذكية سلسلة من الفعاليات لتعزيز الوعي بخدماتها الذكية المبتكرة وتقديم الدعم والتضامن مع "أسبوع الإمارات للابتكار". وتضمن ذلك الإعداد لمختبر تجربة العميل في مردف سيتي سنتر، من أجل اختبار تجارب المستخدمين لبعض من الخدمات الذكية لحكومة دبي مثل تطبيق "دبي الآن" ووتطبيق "دبي للتوظيف" وخدمة "هويتي الإلكترونية" فضلاً عن التركيز الخاص على ذوي الاحتياجات الخاصة. كما أجرت حكومة دبي الذكية ورشتي عمل لموظفي الحكومة بشأن استراتيجية حكومة دبي الذكية وتخصيص البيانات الضخمة؛ وورشة عمل عامة عن أمن المعلومات وهي عبارة عن مجموعة على موقع "لينكد إن" (LinkedIn) ضمن حكومة دبي لتبادل أفضل الممارسات حول الابتكار، بالإضافة إلى جلسة أسئلة وأجوبة عن طريق وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي.
