Prominent Egyptian and international talent to be showcased at the inaugural art fair

Held under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Sheikha Sabika bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty the King of Bahrain and President of the Supreme Council for Women, the first edition of ArtBahrain is preparing to showcase reputed artists and galleries from Egypt as well as the wider Middle East region and international art scene when it opens its doors next month in the Kingdom of Bahrain, from October 13 to 16, 2015. A specially-designed marquee is currently being constructed in Bahrain’s capital Manama to accommodate the artist exhibits, the galleries and a dedicated Bahraini pavilion
Gallery Ward, one of Cairo’s leading art galleries and a key participant at ArtBahrain, will showcase contemporary Egyptian art and introduce works by some of the most dynamic Egyptian artists living and working in Egypt and abroad, including Atef Ahmed, Ayman Elsemary, Nagla Samir, Ahmed Khaled, Ayman Lotfy, Essam Darwish, Ehab Ellaban, Adel Tharwat, Ahmed Kassim, Essam Marouf and Armen Agop.
ArtBahrain will be a melting pot of artists, gallerists, cognoscenti and art lovers from Bahrain and around the world, sharing space, ideas and inspiration. This prominent art exhibition will provide an ideal platform for the local, regional and global art communities to engage, synergize and stimulate creativity, promoting Bahrain’s emerging talent and celebrating the region’s artistic vivacity as a whole.
The inaugural art fair has received very positive support from acclaimed figures and art galleries from the Middle East, Europe, Africa and Asia, and will feature diverse art aptitudes ranging from classic acrylic to sculpture, and digital photography to new age installation.
Countries that will be represented in addition to Egypt include Bahrain, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Oman, United Arab Emirates, Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, Tunisia, India, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Austria, Kenya and Thailand, with more participants being added to the list.
Leading Arab artists who will be displaying their work independently are Mattar bin Lahej (UAE), Radhika Hamlai (Oman) and Nasr Warour (Syria). Global artists include Sacha Jafri (UK), Nespolo Ugo (Italy), Satish Gupta (India), Sujata Bajaj (France), Jaideep Mehrotra (India); international art galleries include Albermarle Gallery (UK), GPL Contemporary (Austria), Gallery Shchukina (UK) and Trade Art Gallery (Italy).
Bahraini participants include Jamal Abdul Rahim, Faika Al Hassan, Sheikha Marwa Bint Rashid Al Khalifa, Shaikha Lulwa Bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, Uzma Dadabhai, Fuad Al Binfalah, Ali Mahmeed and Mariam Fakhro.
Co-founder of ArtBahrain, Kaneka Subberwal, explained: ‘We are delighted with the tremendous enthusiasm and support we have received from renowned galleries and artists, and we are very confident ArtBahrain will become a premiere event regionally and internationally. Events such as ArtBahrain can go a long way in encouraging the next generation of artists in the region and projecting the vibrant Arabian art scene on a global level”.
“Bahrain has a refined level of appreciation and talent for art, which makes it a great location for an international art fair; the Kingdom is fast emerging as a major player in the art world and it is pertinent that we partner with these global institutions to allow the regional arts community to flourish, fuelling investment in the country as a result”, further commented Subberwal who is also the Founder and Managing Director of Art Select, an art advisory that has curated the fair.
Also on the agenda at ArtBahrain will be a series of interactive workshops and forums conducted by experts to encourage new collectors and the next generation of artists. Art investors of various backgrounds will share their first-hand experiences with visitors on collecting with the goal of elevating awareness about the art world. Visitors to the fair will also be invited to enjoy the first ever Art Lounge at an art fair, which aims to be an interactive platform, both social and cultural, encompassing a bookshop, an art supplies store and an artists’ working arena.
As part of the Art Bahrain project a book published by Miracle Publishing and authored by Mr. Renaud Siegmann will be launched especially for the event. This fully illustrated book will serve as a portfolio for 33 of Bahrain’s most prominent artists alongside personal interviews with them. The book offers a unique insight into the Kingdom’s emerging art scene and gives an opportunity to discover the long time commitment of modern and contemporary Bahraini artists as well as the new generations of mid-career and emerging artists.

أول معرض فني لاستعراض المواهب المصرية والعالمية

تحت رعاية صاحبة السمو الملكي الأميرة سبيكة بنت إبراهيم آل خليفة قرينة عاهل البلاد المفدى، رئيسة المجلس الأعلى للمرأة، تجري الاستعدادات لاستضافة النسخة الأولى من معرض فن البحرين (ArtBahrain) ، الحدث الفني الذي سيشكل ملتقى للفنانين وصالات العرض الفنية من مصر فضلا عن العالم العربي ومختلف أنحاء العالم وذلك في الفترة الممتدة ما بين 13 وحتى 16 أكتوبر 2015. وتجري الآن أعمال التشييد على الموقع المخصص للفعالية في عاصمة البحرين المنامة لاستيعاب معروضات الفنانين والمعارض الفنية والتي ستضم عدد من الملحقات الخاصة.
يعتبر معرض ورد (Ward Gallary) احد أبرز المعارض الفنية في القاهرة و أحد المشاركين الرئيسيين في معرض فن البحرين (ArtBahrain)، سيقون المعرض بعرض الفن المصري المعاصر بالإضافة الى تقديم أعمال بعض الفنانين المصريين الأكثر ديناميكية المقيمين والعاملين في مصر والخارج، من ضمنهم عاطف أحمد، أيمن السماري، نجلاء سمير، أحمد خالد، أيمن لطفى، عصام درويش، إيهاب اللابان، عادل ثروت، أحمد قاسم، عصام معروف و أرمين اغوب.
وسيشكل معرض فن البحرين(ArtBahrain) الوجهة المثالية للفنانين أصحاب صالات العرض الفنية ومحبي الفن من البحرين ومن جميع أنحاء العالم عبر مشاركة المساحة الفنية ذاتها وتبادل الأفكار والإبداع. وسيكون هذا المعرض حلقة الوصل المثالية بين المجتمعات الفنية المحلية والإقليمية والعالمية و فرصة لتشجيع المواهب البحرينية الصاعدة والاحتفاء بحيوية المشهد الفني في المنطقة بشكل عام.
وقد حصد هذا المعرض في نسخته الافتتاحية الكثير من الدعم من الشخصيات البارزة وصالات العرض الفنية في الشرق الأوسط وأوروبا وأفريقيا وآسيا، حيث سيشتمل المعرض على أعمال من مختلف أطياف العالم الفني من لوحات الأكريليك والمنحوتات فضلاً عن التصوير الرقمي وغيرها من التقنيات الجديدة في مجال الفن.
وتشمل الدول التي سيتم تمثيلها بالإضافة إلى مصر، البحرين الإمارات العربية المتحدة وسلطنة عمان والمملكة العربية السعودية وسوريا ولبنان وفلسطين وتونس والهند والمملكة المتحدة وفرنسا وإيطاليا بالإضافة الى النمسا وكينيا وتايلاند.
تشمل صالات العرض المشاركة معرض ورد (Ward Gallary) من مصر، بالإضافة الى عدد من كبار الفننانين العرب الذين سيقومون باستعراض أعمالهم الفنية من ضمنهم الفنان مطر بن لاحج، رديكة حمالي Radhika Hamlai (سلطنة عمان) ونصر ورور (سوريا). وبالنسبة للفنانين العالمين: ساشا جفريSacha Jafri (المملكة المتحدة) ونيسبولو أوغوNespolo Ugo (إيطاليا) وساتش غوبتا Satish Gupta (الهند) وسوجاتا باجاجا Sujata Bajaj (فرنسا) و جيديب مهروترا Jaideep Mehrotra (الهند). ومن صالات العرض الفنية المشاركة في الفعالية : ألبرمارلي غاليري Albermarle Gallery (المملكة المتحدة) و جي بي إل كونتمبرري GPL Contemporary (النمسا) وشوجوكينا غاليري Gallery Shchukina (المملكة المتحدة) و تريد آرت غاليري Trade Art Gallery (إيطاليا).
ومن بين المشاركيين البحرينين: جمال عبدالرحيم وفائقة الحسن والشيخة مروة بنت راشد آل خليفة والشيخة لولوة بنت عبدالعزيز آل خليفة وأوزما داداباي وفؤاد البنفلاح ومريم فخرو.
ومن جهتها، قالت كانيكا سوبيرول، أحد مؤسسي معرض فن البحرين (ArtBahrain) والمدير العام لشركةArt Select للاستشارات الفنية، الشركة الراعية للمعرض: "لقد أسعدنا كثيراً دعم واهتمام الفنانين المرموقين وصالات العرض الفنية الكبيرة ونحن على ثقة بأن معرض فن البحرين(ArtBahrain) سيصبح معرضًا فنيًا رائدًا على المستويين الإقليمي والعالمي. ونحن على يقين بان إقامة الأعمال الفنية المماثلة من شأنها ان تحفز الأجيال القادمة من الفنانين فضلاً عن إثراء المشهد الفني الإقليمي والعربي والرفع من مستواه عالميًا."
وأضافت قائلاً: "تمتاز مملكة البحرين بوفرة المواهب الفنية وامتياز أهلها بالتقدير الراقي للفن مما يجعل منها موقعًا متميزًا لاستضافة هذه الفعالية التي توفر الفرص الجديدة للفنانين المحليين والمهتمين بالفن، وأعتقد بأن إقامة مثل هذه الفعاليات سيحفز الاستثمار الفني فيها."
وستُدرج على جدول أعمال معرض فن البحرين (ArtBahrain) مجموعة من ورش العمل التفاعلية والمنتديات التي يجريها الخبراء بهدف تشجيع جامعي الأعمال الفنية، وسيتبادل مستثمرو الفن من مختلف الخلفيات الخبرات المباشرة مع الزوّار حول جمع الأعمال الفنية بهدف زيادة الوعي في عالم الفن، كما ستتم دعوة زوّار المعرض للاستمتاع بأول قاعة فنية من نوعها على الإطلاق والتي تهدف لأن تكون بمثابة منصة تفاعلية، اجتماعيًا وثقافيًا، تضم متجرًا لبيع الكتب ومخزنًا للتجهيزات الفنية وميدان عمل للفنانين.
وكجزء من مشروع (Art Bahrain)، سيصدر خصيصًا لهذه الفعالية كتابًا من نشر شركة Miracle Publishing ومن تأليف رينود سيجمان. وسيتيح هذا الكتاب الفرصة للتعرف على حوالي 33 من الفنانين البحرينيين، حيث سيركز الكتاب على نشر اعمالهم الفنية خلال المراحل المختلفة في مسيرتهم الفنية إلى جانب المقابلات الشخصية،. ويشكل هذا الإصدار إسهامًا فريدًا للمشهد الفني في المملكة حيث يسلط الضوء على الفنانين المتخصصين في الفن الحديث والمعاصر فضلا عن الجيل الجديد من المواهب الفنية والفنانين الناشئين.
