WHAT
A special evening dedicated to Eric Rouleau, journalist and diplomat (1926-2015), on the occasion of the publication of his memoirs in Arabic: “The Near East Behind the Scenes: Memoirs of a diplomat and journalist,” organized by The Middle Eastern Studies Center (MESC), AUC, the French Institute in Egypt and Al-Tanany Publishing House.
Born in Egypt, Rouleau covered the Near East for the daily Le Monde for three decades before being appointed ambassador to Tunisia then Turkey.
WHO
Lakhdar Brahimi, ambassador, and Alain Gresh, editor in chief of Le Monde Diplomatique, will be guest speakers. Short addresses will be given by Ambassadors Nabil Fahmy, dean of AUC School of Global Affairs and Public Policy and French Ambassador in Cairo André Parant. The evening will be moderated by Sandrine Gamblin, MESC director.
