10th edition of the International Plants Expo Middle East to throw the spotlight on GCC’s AED 556 million horticulture industry

The UAE has been credited with owning 30 per cent of the total number of flowers, plants and trees imported into the GCC in 2014, according to a mirrored figures by the UN Comtrade, a repository of official trade statistics and relevant analytical tables. For the GCC region alone, the horticultural industry has been valued at AED 556 million, further solidifying the region’s position as the leading importer of flowers, plants and trees for the past five years, with the Netherlands ranking as the top country from where the imported horticulture products are sourced from. The industry’s continuing growth is attributed to the UAE’s vibrant hospitality, services and landscaping segments.
Looking to play a key role in the horticulture industry’s continuous growth, the 10th edition of the International Plants Expo Middle East (IPM DUBAI), the most important plant show in the Gulf region, which will be held from October 5 to October 7, 2015 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, is expected to throw the spotlight on the latest market trends, innovations and breakthroughs in the flower and plants market. Being held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Airports and President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, this year's event will be showcasing eight country pavilions, including China, Egypt, Ethiopia, Germany, Kenya, Mauritius, Sri Lanka and the USA, in addition to 96 exhibitors--reflecting a 20 per cent increase from last year. Expected highlights of this year’s show includes China’s first time to host a country pavilion, key exhibitions, demonstrations and talks on timely industry topics such as plants, technology, floristry, garden features, logistics, plant maintenance and garden & landscaping.
“The country's horticulture and landscaping industry, which is worth AED 364 million, continues to demonstrate vibrancy and growth--with active trading in the past two years. It also shows 57 per cent growth as compared to 2011 and 2012. Other industries are also now looking at opportunities from the horticulture business, like the logistics industry, which has expressed key interest via utilizing the transport chain in moving flowers, plants and trees as prime cargo,” said Tarek Sibai, Project Manager, planetfair. “All of these positive developments have given us the confidence to look forward to a successful tenth edition of IPM DUBAI. Over the years, IPM DUBAI has served as a strategic platform to showcase the latest industry trends, discuss challenges while also serving as a key venue for industry players to connect and explore rewarding opportunities.”
IPM DUBAI 2015 is being organized by planetfair and Messe Essen, with support coming from Dubai Airports Cargo & Logistics. Media partners for the show include TASPO, the leading magazine for German Horticulture; and Agriculture Magazine.

احتلت دولة الإمارات رأس الدول المستوردة للزهور والنباتات والأشجار في منطقة الخليج حيث شكلت نسبة ورادتها 30%، وذلك وفقاً لـ"قاعدة بيانات الأمم المتحدة الإحصائية لتجارة السلع الأساسية" (UN Comtrade)، التي تعتبر مرجع الإحصاءات التجارية الرسمية والجداول التحليلية ذات الصلة. وتشير التقديرات إلى أن قيمة قطاع البستنة بلغت 556 مليون درهم إماراتي في منطقة الخليج وحدها ، الأمر الذي يرسخ مكانة المنطقة كأحد أبرز المستوردين للزهور والنباتات والأشجار خلال السنوات الخمس الماضية. واحتلت هولندا قائمة الدول التي تستورد منها المنطقة منتجات البستنة. ويعزى النمو المطرد للقطاع إلى الانتعاش الاقتصادي الذي تشهده قطاعات الضيافة والخدمات وتنسيق الحدائق في الإمارات.
ويأتي "المعرض الدولي للزهور والنباتات في الشرق الأوسط" (IPM DUBAI)، الحدث الأكبر المتخصص بالنباتات والبستنة على مستوى المنطقة والمقرر انعقاده في الفترة من 5 إلى 9 أكتوبر/تشرين الأول القادم في مركز دبي التجاري العالمي لتسليط الضوء على أحدث اتجاهات السوق والابتكارات والاكتشافات في هذا القطاع. ومن المقرر أن يضم المعرض، الذي يأتي تحت رعاية سمو الشيخ أحمد بن سعيد آل مكتوم، رئيس مؤسسة مطارات دبي ورئيس هيئة دبي للطيران المدني ، جناحات وطنية لكل من الصين ومصر وإثيوبيا وألمانيا وكينيا وموريشيوس وسريلانكا والولايات المتحدة الأمريكية، بمشاركة 96 عارضاً بزيادة 20% عن العام الماضي. وستشهد دورة هذا العام للمرة الأولى مشاركة جناح جمهورية الصين بالاضافة الى العديد من النقاشات حول أهم المواضيع الراهنة المتعلقة بهذا القطاع مثل تكنولوجيا النباتات والبستنة والخدمات اللوجستية وصيانة الآلات وتنسيق الحدائق.
تعليقاً على الموضوع قال طارق السباعي، مدير المشاريع في شركة "بلانيت فير": "يواصل قطاع البستنة وتنسيق الحدائق في الإمارات، البالغ قيمته 364 مليون درهم، نموه في ظل الزخم الذي شهده في حجم التجارة في العامين الماضيين، حيث وصلت نسبة النمو إلى 57% مقارنةً بعامي 2011 و2012. وتطلع العديد من الصناعات الأخرى الاستفادة من الفرص التي توفرها أعمال البستنة، مثل صناعة الخدمات اللوجستية التي أبدت اهتماماً كبيراً من خلال تقديم خدمات نقل الزهور والنباتات والأشجار كبضائع أساسية عبر شبكات النقل لديها". وأضاف قائلاً: "منحتنا جميع هذه التطورات الإيجابية الثقة في النجاح الذي ينتظر الدورة العاشرة من "المعرض الدولي للزهور والنباتات في الشرق الأوسط". واثبت المعرض مكانته الرياديّة إذ وفّر منصة استراتيجية لتسليط الضوء على أحدث اتجاهات هذا القطاع ومناقشة التحديات وملتقى رئيسي لأبرز الجهات للتواصل واستكشاف الفرص المثمرة".
الجدير بالذكر أن "المعرض الدولي للزهور والنباتات في الشرق الأوسط" يأتي بتنظيم من شركة "بلانيت فير" بالتعاون مع شركة "مسي أيسن"، ويحظى بدعم مركز" الشحن واللوجستية" في مطارات دبي. ومن بين الشركاء الإعلاميين للمعرض مجلة تاسبو (TASPO)، المجلة المتخصصة في مجال البستنة والزراعة في ألمانيا.
